In the Dark: Power Trip (2021)
Writer Seems Like a Wistful Teenager
I'm sorry, but this storyline is utter drivel. The writer comes across as either a high-school girl living in fantasy land or a middle-aged virgin. The romantic entanglements between people who've known each other for less than 48 hours is comical. Depressingly bad writing for what started out as an interesting show.
Complete Strangers (2020)
Appallingly Acted
Regardless of strength of story, the lead actor is excruciatingly difficult to watch. He's flat and just not good. The pitch of his voice also had me itching to turn the movie off.
As for the story...eh? As others have mentioned, it has a really big twist at the end. Is the twist good enough to justify watching the movie? I guess if you're not paying for it and you can get past the poor performance of the lead. Then sure. Overall though, the story is weak, Hugo abusive, and the lead pathetic.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Remember Me (2018)
Progressively getting worse.
I understand SVU is short staffed but the level of involvement in the nitty gritty the Lieutenant in COMMAND has is beyond ridiculous. If the writers wanted to keep SVU the Olivia Benson show, they should never have promoted her. The newer episodes clash so glaringly against the first seasons. My review for this particular episode? I get Lourdes is a victim, but she committed murder. Olivia needs to stop giving the ADA disgusted eyes because he won't put his head in the sand like she does.
Sex Education: Episode 3 (2021)
Unnecessary
Having scenes that are questionable is not new in this series. But I agree with others - the opening scene with the cat was entirely unnecessary, started the episode with a negative, and was a misstep by the writers. Despite the rest of the episode, this one deserves low marks.
Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears (2020)
A Poor Follow Up
This movie was really quite awful. I've watched the series a few times through waiting for the movie to finally come out. There is very little to redeem this attempt at continuing the story. Not sure why it was even made. It lacked all the charm from the series. Miss Fisher's antics were more over the top than usual.
