A Picture of Her (2023)
A pleasant surprise, and great chemistry!
This film blew me away. Kudos go to Rhiannon Fish and Tyler Hynes, who were so in sync with each other, it was a beautiful thing to watch. And the director allowed room for quiet moments, like when Tyler was using the camera. And unlike other other movies utilizing a camera, Tyler looked like he knew how to use one correctly. In addition, the pacing and rhythm is different from other Hallmark movies, which is a welcome pleasant surprise. It felt like their story was real, and I was invited in to witness the special moments. I'll definitely watch this one again, and again. Make more movies like this, Hallmark!
Marry Me in Yosemite (2022)
A coffee table book cannot be made in five short days.
As a professional photographer this movie is very flawed. Middle of the day glare is not what pro photographers strive for. Backpacking and sleeping in a tent lead to capturing the greatest exposures at sunrise, not in the harsh light portrayed. A coffee table book is made with multiple exposures over time, not just one click and you have it. This could have been so much better with even slight adjustments and thoughts to these details. Cindy's character would have come off so much more mature, and more in keeping with the groundedness of someone who lives in nature. Also, when holding a camera it should not be slightly tilted when creating a landscape image. And don't crop off the top of a mountain!
Christmas at Grand Valley (2018)
Angela Asher's voice
I think Hallmark should be more careful when casting actors with deep, throaty voices. What works in dramas where the husky voice can be useful, just does not work for Hallmark. At :38 minutes, when Angela's character invites the children to her shop across the street, I was cringing.
