Mr. Robot: 407 Proxy Authentication Required (2019)
Perfect
This episode of mr robot is litterly perfect. The acting was some of the best I've ever seen. Rami Malek deserves the hype.
This episode comes with a massive twist, one I could never see coming. A twist laying out proving Elliot's father sexually molested him thus why Elliot blocked out memories. Causing his memory loss. All with the help of his therapist and of course the man who stole the show, Vera.
Absolutely beautiful writing in this episode, with Vera winning the hearts of the viewer over by the end of the episode. Bringing the "I see you now" story fully circle. Of how Vera broke down Elliot (exactly what he said he was going to do) but does it in the most heart warming way possible. As Elliot battles his inner demons Vera calms him and shows what a genuine man he is.
Only for him to be stabbed in the back physically but also metaphorically as once we actually start liking him he's killed off. In a fantastically shocking end to a perfectly written episode. Each act better than the previous all climaxing in act 4 and 5.
Absolutely brilliant.
Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022)
So much to work with, thrown out the window
This ending was way better than the last ending, and of course I'm going to compare. But that being said this ending was trash. It was dog water. I mean they had so much to work with, the first 40 minutes were so good, so unpredictable. It was going so well utill he escaped from prison.
But like what was the point of angel Bautista coming back, the fact that they added him in this episode was pointless.
They really needed 2 more episodes to tie up loose ends. Like it kinda just ends with so many questions, like what's audrey's reaction to Harrison leaving. And are they even going to look for kurt?
The whole bay barber butcher plot was pointless and should of just left it behind if they weren't going to use it in the end.
They should of done the trail to realise dexter was in fact the bay harbour butcher.
And don't get me started on the OFF SCREEN DEATH OF DEXTER. I mean yeah it's poetic justice for his son to kill him. And dexter needed to die obviously. But Harrison killing him and it doesn't even show the bullet going into him. Like the camera just pans on Harrison's face and then cuts to dexter already on the ground.
Disappointed to say the least.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Proof netflix can make a good movie
This movie was good, it was funny and I couldn't predict any of it. The story was full to the brim of turns and comedy. The characters were so well written as an ironic version of earth. I loved it. So many cameos that made me laugh and also when is Ariana releasing that just look up song on spotify.
9/10.
The Gentlemen (2019)
Guy Richie is back in "the game"
I'll keep it short and sweet. This movie is incredible. The story unfolds beautifully and the acting is brilliant. My only problem was with the dialogue, I didn't like the little quotes they had, the little metaphors, it just wasn't for me. The use of cgi bugged me, there was no need for it. But That's just a scratch on the surface compared to this masterpiece of a film.
Overall 9.3
But you can't give ratings with points in it so I'll have to round off with a 9
Power (2014)
Lack of original content
Power s1, 2 and 3 were all good. I'll give it that....good. The acting isn't the greatest but it's a new perspective of the drug dealing business and it was new and fresh.....at the time.
After season 3 you realise it's just (("oh this guy isn't as good as we tought, let's kill him. Oh no there is an obstacle in my way." Gets over obstacle. Kills bad guy.)).
Literally every season has this exact story line.
The characters are kinda annoying. Tommy tries way too hard to be "cool" And Angela Valdes is the definition of "annoying."
The only good character was lobos because he was clever and witty. He had At least a bit of character development if you can even call it that.
They would kill off characters as a shock factor and not mainly for story. This show is a 7 being generous. There's plenty of other tv shows about the drug scene better than this.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Classic Tarantino
Can I just say straight off the bat, The dialogue in this movie is top notch. The acting, the cinematography, the score. This is a character development flick. Very "boring" for some people. Other like me love this type of movie. From chapter 4 onwards is so intense. Samuel L Jackson can be an actor that either is brilliant or awful. In this he was brilliant. The movie takes place really in two locations (90%) the carriage and the house. I got vibes of 12 angry men. I highly recommend this movie to somebody who liked once upon a time... in Hollywood or Jackie brown. 10/10
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019)
No need honestly.
(Minor spoilers)
There was no need for this movie. And I dock one mark for that simple fact. Classic vince gilligan being a sell out (joke but not really). Fat todd was so distracting and took me out of the story at times. Amazing writing, acting, cinematography and in my opinion the dialogue was top notch. Jesse and Todd talk about the weather for about 2 minutes and it's so interesting. It's dark with humour. I hated Bryan Cranston's bald cap. It was so obvious. This movie is a tribute to the character. Another excellent character study. I feel as though it should of been a mini series. I get that it was from jesses point of view but why did they not show what skinny and badger did after Jesse left.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Amazing everything
The acting is unbelievable the editing is so peculiar and I think it's very good, very interesting approach to editing. Pulled it of perfectly. So many themes. Dialogue and script is beautifully done. Plot is super and camera work is amazingly done. NEVER WATCHING AGAIN, 10.
Dexter: Remember the Monsters? (2013)
Lazy writing
I give it a 4 because debs death is sad but she died so bad. Basically natural causes. When it showed dexter being a lumberjack it should of hinted at him still killing. Because if he isn't killing anymore he can go back to Harrison.
Also now that people think dex is dead and deb is dead. Where do they think Harrison is. For them Harrison just disappeared.
A man hunt would of been so much better in season 8.
I give it a 4 because it is open ended. They can still make a s9 so idk if the show is over.
Dexter: This Is the Way the World Ends (2011)
What a way to end the season
This was and amazing ending. Season 6 was strong. The only bad thing in my opinion was the AWFUL cgi (snakes coming out of body, locusts that fly out from the angle body, the gun dexter shoots in ep 7 and the explosion in the ocean) that's really all the bad cgi. Dexter as a show never used cgi but it's not going to dock marks from the cgi.
This ending (deb witnessed Dex killing) is what was missing from season 5. Remember (deb walked away in the final episode after she had a gun aiming at dex and lumen. Anyway this season was very good. 10/10 episode finale
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
So many opportunities missed
I give it a 5 because it's not going to be the same rating as "sharknado" but it had good visuals and music. But I give it a 5 because they missed SO many opportunities it's actually unbelievable. BRANNNNN!!! Like why bran and Daenerys' death could of been written by a 12 year old. What did tormund do and and Davos since ep 3.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
This episode is defiantly in top 10 best ever
This episode was unreal. Everyone voting it 1 voted before the episode was out. I know d and d are stupid idiots who ruined the show in episode 4 but trust me this episode was very good. Extremely satisfying and felt like classic GOT.
