Dunkirk (2017)
A different Nolan but a good movie regardless
One of the things that I can understand why someone does not like the movie is the fact that there is no protagonist or much dialogue so it can be boring for some people, but in my opinion the movie is a gem.
The Last Duel (2021)
Guess Ridley is really back
The movie recreates the historical injustices that women have suffered and luckily this time justice triumphed but at a brutal cost. Great performances, great dialogues and great staging.
Sex Education (2019)
Very funny and good story telling
The show also affectively manages drama too, without coming off as heavy-handed, and you might even find yourself a little choked up in the last bunch of episodes. Once again, the Brits show that they understand budding sexuality way better than us yanks do.
Taxi Driver (1976)
It is an unbelievable film
He transformation of Travis from a low-life into a vigilante is portrayed with extreme detail. The character development was believable and entertaining. The acting was top notch
Fargo (1996)
Genuis of the Cohen's.
This is a very good, darkly comic film. Its maybe a bit too short and rushed at the end, but then most Cohen films are that way. It has two great performances, by Steve Buscemi and Frances McDormand. The rest of the cast are good, but not quite as up to the standard. Follwing a vagurly sinister beginning, the plot gets way and it is a crazy one, crazy like Raising Arizona and the Big Lebowski. What follows is violence (one scene involving a woodchipper), the odd moment of humour, and a whole lot of whacky scenes, making for an entertaining film.
A Very English Scandal (2018)
Smart acting but that's about it
The first episode is excellent, but then the tone shifts dramatically in episode 2 and it loses its footing. Redeems itself a bit in the last episode but the slapstick and dumb-guy jokes suck the air out of the drama.
