Allt och Eva (2024)
It's a YES from me !
It's not even my kind of show. But I love it. The acting is on freaking point. I'm often criticized for complaining about poor acting. But this is so good! These people must know each other previously, how else can it be explained? The dialogue is so smooth and real. Or did they all co write the script? I need to know.
Only seen 2 episodes but had to praise and rate it anyways.
Although the music is driving me nuts, yet I kind of like the "recap song" (you will get what I mean if you wach it), I guess Im a bit ambivalent on this topic. I have to emphasize that I normally don't like shows like this. Specifically not Swedish ones.
The high quality keeps me interested.
Maskineriet (2020)
It's a NO from me
Why ? Complicated plot (for no good reason) and way too many characters. Adding more and more ingredients don't make a better result. Keeping it simple and cutting out 80% of all the unnecessary crap could have saved this one.
This is not by any means a low budget production. Boats, action shots, helicopters, well known actors and numerous locations must have cost a lot. But most of it doesn't really add anything to the storyline (that is very hard to follow)
The positive is that the main roles are well casted. Overall good acting from the main characters. Something that can't be said about the rest.
Script on it's own isn't bad, it's just the plot and storyline that spoils it. It's a shame really.
Veronika (2024)
It's a NO from me.
This is not watch worthy at all. Absolute waste of time. Exept for the main characters the acting is horrible. The filming is way too dark, background music is always gloomy. Even if it's a crime/theiller show there is no need for that.
There is nothing that hooks the viewer. I have tried to watch this two times and I can hold on to the third episode. After that I can't stand it anymore. Some of the actors are so bad and cringe worthy. I dont understand why, did they spend the whole budget on the main roles and got some extras to act or is it really bad directing?
The script is questionable, so many annoying details that would never happen irl and you don't understand what the red thread is. Not even in the third episode is it clear. I absolutely hated this show and I really wanted to love it. It has all the attributes to make a great show but unfortunately it's a train wreck.
The Woman in the Wall (2023)
Excellent!
Intriguing show that circles around a powerfull theme. I was hooked right from the start. The plot is really good and has several layers. The main characters are interesting and well casted. Specially the female lead actress is fantastic and plays the part believably . Acting is truly on point and the locations chosen fit the story.
Many shows have too many characters but this one had the right amount, each adding something to the storyline. Story it self moves forward with a good phase and is easy to follow and has unexpected surprises. Overall a great show, if there will be a second season would definitely watch.
The Gentlemen (2024)
Watch this !
Easy to follow, great plot and a story that moves forward in the perfect way. The characters have a clear line, they are almost cartoon like villains. In a good way. Guy Richie has a specific talent to create characters and "Gentlemen " is a perfect example of that.
Acting is on point and the scirpt is unusually smart and well written. There are no boring parts and I was hooked after 10 minutes. There is no way of telling what will come next.
In other shows I will get annoyed when somethings are not believable or don't make sense in the "real world" but I don't mind it at all in this show. Watch it !
Kin (2021)
I didn't love this
This should be exactly my kind of show. I had high hopes. But for some reason I didn't love it. It might be too slow for me, it didn't really engage me.
I was getting bored even if it has a strong story and the plot is seemingly good. Acting is overall good and the script as well. But it did not move forward in the right pace (for me) and I was not hooked to the story. Maybe they failed to build the characters or something. It seems like my opinion is not how most people rate the show. But it just wasn't the right pick for me. I do find it strange since it has all the ingredients that I usually like.
White House Farm (2020)
Watch this !
Do not pay attention to the bad ratings. This show is excellent! Somewhat slow in the beginning but it takes off pretty soon. How the show starts does not give an clear indication on how the rest of the show will continue. That might make someone quit before it gets good.
The plot is really good and the storyline is intriguing. Acting is overall good with some exceptions. A few characters don't follow their own "frame" (lack of a better word) and feel as they are fluctuating and its hard to tell what to make of them. Other than that.
This show really kept me on my toes the whole time and built excitement throughout the episodes.
Yellowstone (2018)
Excellent!
This is not a show I would normally pick. I was not an early adopter. After visiting Park City where the first few seasons are filmed we started to watch and it took a few episodes before I was hooked. If you are not convinced after one episode, give it some more time. It's worth it, I promise !
Yellowstone has the old school way of telling a story. There is a hero and the antagonist is clear to the viewer. For example the heroes/good guys drive Dodge ram and the bad guys drive Ford trucks. There are plenty of these kind of examples how the production emphasizes and makes a clear line between the good and the bad.
1923 (2022)
Watch worthy !
I loved Yellowstone, but did not enjoy "1883". This one has great storyline (unlike 1883). The characters are interesting and have several layers. The plot is strong and the script is well thought through. The story is intriguing and this show has kind of two parallel storylines but both equally good and they made sense to the viewer. Much like yellowstone the good and the bad are very clear but like in any good story the "good" have some "bad".
The story moves forward in a satisfying pace since both the parallel storylines are equally intriguing.
I generally enjoy shows that take place in the 1920's and one of the storylines gives plenty of 1920's fashion.
Quarry (2016)
Excellent in so many ways!
This show has that "something" the plot is well made and writing is extraordinary. Characters in this show have several layers and each add something extra to the storyline. The script is on point in this show, each character have their own way of expressing themselves . "Quarry" is filmed in a very satisfying way, sometimes handheld camera that gives the scene something extra. Locations picked for the scenes are amazing and you can really feel the time and place.
I can't believe it took me this long to find this show, I have never heard of it and no one has recommended it to me. This one is a must watch !
Defending Jacob (2020)
Lost interest
This show is beautifully produced and overall well made. The acting is great and the story itself is interesting and intriguing. How ever I found it to be way too slow, and too dark and quite fast I lost interest. Also the characters whispered their lines and even if the story requires some darkness its weird and not believable that ppl whisper all day, everyday.
How the story unfolds and moves forward was lacking something. I found the characters to be way too pale. The show did not build up the main characters and relied only on the story.
I stopped watching after 2/3 my hubby continued and he did not like the ending at all. He was very disappointed how the show ended.
Bad Sisters (2022)
Great plot !
I really enjoyed this one. The plot is brilliant and I love how they chose to tell the story. It was captivating and intriguing. Even tho there are several main characters it worked well in this show. Normally I find that to be confusing and annoying. But in "Bad Sisters" it actually was not an annoyance. My hubby was initially skeptical to watch a show about sister/family drama. But he changed his mind quite quickly.
Overall a great cast, good script and nice surroundings and locations.
It was a a few months since I saw the show (I rated it directly after watching) there must have been something now I can't remember anything to complain about. That's a good thing I suppose.
American Nightmare (2024)
You can't write this....
This documentary is really captivating, pulls you in immediately. You just have to figure out what the hell happened, who is lying, who is telling the truth and how all of this is possible. It's really a well made true crime documentary. Many documentaries fail in so many areas.
The story in it self is unlike anything I've ever heard and I have watched a lot of true crime documentaries. You can't write this kind of storyline, it wouldn't be picked up by any streaming platform, because it's hard to believe even if you know its a true story behind it all.
I can really recommend this one. You wont regret it, I promise!
Griselda (2024)
I was hoping for more
I'm disappointed despite a great cast, exiting story and I love show's that take place in the 70's and early 80's.
I can't put my finger on it, what actually is wrong with this one. It's just dull, it is missing something crucially important. It's probably a combination if things.
For some reason the show fails in keeping me interested and it does not build up the main characters. I'm contemplating watching the 3 episodes again (after that I gave up) to give a food reason why this show did not tick my boxes. It just didn't. I would have continued to watch if I was on a long flight. It's not that bad....
The wardrobe and the locations where the show is filmed look great and they don't fail in mKing me believe it's late 70's.
The Bear (2022)
It's a vibe !
We watched this before the hype, before the nominations and awards. Never heard of "The Bear".
Wow.... it took a few minutes to know that we would live it . In the first season (I think) Jeremy Allan whites character Carmy has a monologue.... It's very long and captivating. It's also made in ONE take... one camera, one angle.
It's easy to say, great acting makes the show. That is not true, or only partially true. The production/creators have nailed "it", they had a clear vision and held on to the core throughout. (That's a very hard thing to do). The lighting is great, filmed in very high definition, and (as far as I can tell) extremely light makeup.
All of those single aspects added together gives this show an edge, it feels like you are there.
Do I have to add, I loved it or does the rating speak for it self ?
Swarm (2023)
Amazing!
I loved it immediately, my hubby did not. But quite soon he was happy he kept watching. One of the best shows we seen in a while.
Definitely weird and different, but in a good way. Very unique style of filming and storytelling.
The plot is unreal (meaning good) and the casting is on point. The main character is so weird and disturbed and interesting and entertaining.
I love shows who keep the number of characters on the low end, many shows have too many characters, this one had the perfect amount to keep the story moving forward without unnecessary characters.
I can't find anything bad to say. And that says alot, Im very picky. Watch this !
The last episode is gonna blow your minds!!!
Hand of God (2014)
Amazing - watch this !
The start was a bit weird, but already in the first episode I was hooked. I can't believe I never heard of this show before. The plot was really good, even if it shouldn't have been, what I mean is that the description of the show wouldn't make me initially interested.
I loved the cast, great acting overall.
Storyline was good and i really liked the dark side in many of the "good" characters. That adds an extra layer to any tv series. . Overall production, casting and wardrobe in point. Worth mentioning is that the music in this show was amazing. The production team really succeeded in the whole package!
Marcella (2016)
Watch worthy ish
Overall we have enjoyed this series (only seen season 1 and 2).
The plot is sometimes too complicated and it is hard to remember all details. A major flaw is the casting. Many characters look way too similar and lack uniqueness that separate them from each other, that alone complicates things for no good reason,. Also the number of characters is way too many. For the story to unfold and keep moving forward the number of characters could have been at least 30% less. Some parts in the story don't make sense, or they don't follow the red thread. Suddenly new ppl are introduced without a natural link to the story.
The chosen cast is overall of good quality. Only there are too many of them.
So many holes in the story in both season 1 and 2. Season two is way too far fetched, we ended up not watching the last episode. Not watching season 3. It's a shame really, the show had potential.
Sanningen (2023)
Good start
Great cast, many well known Swedish actors. The plot is initally interesting. Good characters that each bring something to the storyline. A few episodes in something happens with the whole show. In one episode everything just fell apart. The story was unfolding really quickly without any explanation. The detectives came to conclusions that had no ground. Like fast forwarding without explanation.
We stopped watching all together. It was really weird , did they change production team, directors, or did they run out of budget? I can't believe that the script and the plot was written like that.
Very disappointing and unusual.
Fool Me Once (2024)
Not bad!
With few exceptions I love shows written/based on Harlan Cobens novels.
The plot was a bit weak in this one. Overall the series was entertaining, DS Sami Kierce was a great character. That one (both character and the actor) has enough to carry his own series.
For most parts I liked it. The end did not really land well with me. Or maybe it was just how it was produced. Hard to say.
Some parts were totally unnecessary and did not need a long backstory to have little or no significance to the story line and plot,
It seemed like the writer really really loved some parts of the story even if they did nothing to bring the storyline forward.
Trigger Point (2022)
Would recommend!
I'm picky with the shows I watch and this was definitely one of them. I would even recommend it to friends.
After seeing the poor score I was hesitant to even give this one a chance. But beeing a huge Vicky McCLure fan we gave it a chance.
Personally I loved it, I don't understand how anyone can give this show a low score or a bad review just based on stupid details like the police car driving too slow when sirens are on??
Great plot, good acting and (for me) believable setting for how I would imagine a bomb expert would act. Of course, because the show is fictive and not everything is exactly like in real life.
Bc it's not a documentary.
Line of Duty (2012)
Epic....absolutely the best!
This is by far the best tv series I've ever seen.
Two reasons that I even started to watch it was Vicky Mclure and that the IMDB rating was above 8. Because this show didn't seem at all like a show I usually like. Boy was I wrong, the plot and storyline is on point, the acting is superb. The script is impeccable. Character development is really good and the core characters are fantastic. I have nothing but good things to say about Line of Duty. I've watched all seasons and only one of the seasons was a bit weaker than the rest. But only by an inch and the next after that was back to the same level as before.
Poker Face (2023)
Slowly declining
The first episode was amazing. The cast is great. Second episode was not as good but still pretty okay. After that it gets worse. The storyline is loosing quality, is seems like the red thread is lost somewhere. After episode 3 i get a "nancy drew" vibe. All the high quality feel is gone. I wont even bother to watch more episodes. I gave this series 6 rating solely because of the first and second episode. It is such a shame. What happened? How did such a great start just crash and burn. The loss of quality is so obvious. Episode 5 is like a kids show. I'm so disappointed, it had such great potential.
Without Sin (2022)
I should have loved this
I should have loved this. I usually do. But it was way too slow and dark. It is lacking something. I can't put my finger on it. Love the cast, not impressed by the wig tho, who thought itt was good enough to pass as real hair. Good overall plot and it had its moments. I did watch all of it and it was even intriguing at times.
But I would have loved a B plot with something not as dark and depressing.
It's not realistic that everyone in the village is that sad and grey and overall lacking color. I see the artsy side of things but it's just too much.
It was dragging too long, no need for 4 apisodes.....
Inventing Anna (2022)
It's a shame
Good story and a great plot. The acting is really bad. Not believable. This story could be engaging.
Who ever casted this show, did a bad job. With a few exceptions the acting is horrible.
