Percy Jackson and the Olympians: We Find Out the Truth, Sort Of (2024)
The show needs to do better with tension and suspense
Like the title says. The show needs to do better with the tension and suspense. This is there third trap that the trio have figured out. It just ruins the experience if the characters know everything. There is also no urgency with the deadline passing. Like at all. There wasn't even any leasing up to the deadline passing. It's just falling flat. I'm still really enjoying the series, but Season 2 needs to do better. More showing less telling, less exposition, more tension and suspense, and more action scenes. Don't dumb things down and skimp out on certain "gory" aspect. For example the Medusa scene. We didn't see the head cut off. Kida can take a decapitated head. And Procrustes (a wasted scene honestly). We should've seen Percy wit and intelligence play and see him kill Procrustes. If you can't show Percy killing Procrustes, how the hell are you going to show him killing props later on? You can't keep it at this PG level. It doesn't work. Kids can take it. Rick said he's open to suggestions on how to do better in Season 2, well this is it. Also Percy figuring out Kronos is behind everything this early on?? That's a HUGE change. Anyways, the show is still entertaining, but there are glaring issues, that die hard fans aren't really seeing because they're just so happy for a Percy Jackson adaption that is much closer to the source material. I hope once the rose tinted glasses have been taken off, fans will see the issues that many others have seen and ask for Season 2 to be better. Because it can be. This is not a bad show by any means, but there are issues that need to be addressed if this is going to be a franchise like Harry Potter.
Anyways, that's my sorta review about Episode 7, but also about the previous 6 episodes. I hope Episode 8 really isn't like Episode 6 or 7 and goes out with a bang. :)
Supergirl: Rebirth (2021)
A strong final premiere!
I knew Kara was going to the Phantom Zone. It just made sense. I feel like she's going to be a traumatized when she gets back. Can she go to therapy?? She needs it.
I love that Lena used myriad to erase Lex and Lillian's minds. And she told Alex and J'onn about it. She's all about trusting now.
The Lena and Brainy moments were amazing. They are so similar and I love their scenes.
Kara telling Lena that she's the only person in the galaxy she trusts to do right with Myriad was amazing. It really shows that Kara and Lena are building back that trust.
How exactly did Lena's Krypto-Suit shatter?? It's fabric. Lol.
I wonder if M'gann will masquerade as Supergirl's for a bit just so the citizens of National City dont question where their resident hero is.
I love Alex's vigilante name. But really, she needs a mask. That make up ain't it.
I really hope Brainy and Nia turn out okay.
Lena telling Alex that Kelly is her person when talking about secret identities....interesting choice of words.
Of course Lena had a back up plan! She even upgraded the drone thingy and added a yellow sunlight for Kara!
All in all, this was a solid episode. Definitely a 10/10. A very strong premiere. If this had been the finale and it had aired as it should have, I would definitely not have been able to wait this long for answers. Lol.
The Wilds (2020)
I can't wait for Season 2!
The Wilds is such a great show and I would recommend people don't judge it on just one episode. The characters are fleshed out and each have their own backstory that shows why they act the way they act and who they are on the island.
The Wilds is definitely a cross between Lord of the Flies, Lost, and Pretty Little Liars. But it's also it's own show and it's cultivated that. Even if you didn't like Lost or a pretty Little Liars, it's nowhere near what they are, it just has similar aspects taken from each show.
I also love the relationship between Toni and Shelby and think it was developed really well. Shelby is also one of the characters who's backstory was just incredible and definitely made how she act make so much more sense.
The Wilds is definitely a show that leaves you with questions and wanting answers and I hope we see most of them answered in Season 2. I also have heard that Season 2 will still be very much focused in the girls and not the boys from The Twilight of Adam. I'm sure we'll see one or two episodes on them, but I'm glad that Season 2 will still be focused in the girls and we can see them, presumably, still in the island for a bit and off the island in the bunker.
I 100% recommend this show because of the challenges the girl's face, the relationships that are created, and the overall sense of mystery and suspense.
Supergirl: Immortal Kombat (2020)
A great makeshift finale.
5x19 "Immortal Kombat" made a great makeshift finale. Though I am kinda annoyed that Lex and Leviathan will go over into Season 6, I did love that Lena is back with Team Supergirl. Lena and Kara teaming up is one of my favorite things on the show and I'm glad that we'll be getting that back.
Of course we couldn't have a Supergirl finale without one of Supergirl's famous hope speeches. While Rama Khan and Gema weren't the strongest villains in my opinion, everything else that happened in the episode made up for it. And that Lillian appearance at the end doesn't bode well for Team Supergirl. I can't wait for Season 6!
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Wonder Woman 1984 was a decent film.
Wonder Woman 1984 was a decent movie, but it wasn't nearly has good as its predecessor. At times the movie lacked a little oomf. It was a little cheesy, but honestly in the times we're in right now, being cheesy isn't necessarily a bad thing. I did like how Steve Trevor did help with Diana's growth as a character. He didn't take the focus from her. I do think Cheetah was underutilized. Maxwell Lord was a great villain. The overall message of the movie was everything comes at a price and to be thankful for what you have. Overall the movie was entertaining and I do hope they go forward with the already planned out third movie that will take place in modern day.
Supergirl: It's a Super Life (2020)
Amazing episode!
This episode was truly amazing. I loved seeing all the different timelines. I'm glad that kara was able to see different outcomes if she had made different decisions.
In the two we do see Lena come around in the end. In the first one, Kara died in the first one because Lena couldn't save her in time. Though I did love how Sam made sure Lena and o think even the audience knew that Lena was a hero and not a villain when she saved same and made kryptonite. Also, Kara yelled out to the TV that Lena was a villain and how could she think that and then at the end said Lena will be treated like a villain which showed me the ending scene was to get Lena to snap out of it. Kara truly doesn't think Lena is a villain. But she has the capacity to be one.
In the second one, Lena died after Reign killed her, it showed that Lena will come around in the end even if it truly doesn't seem like she will. Seeing Lena die in Kara's arms was horrible. And if you notice closely, her last words are, "Kara." Then Mon-El went on a rampage and killed Sam while in turn getting killed himself. And Kara told Mxy to bring her back.
The third one has go to be my favorite. It really showcases how it would be like if Kara and Lena a Super and a Luthor were working together. Though, I don't think Agent Liberty killing off all her friends was the right way to go. I think there could have been different outcomes. Also, why did the public have to know that Lena knew Supergirl's identity. If they didn't, I think this timeline would have played out differently. But anyways, the third timeline didn't work as well. Though it was my favorite.
I have to say, I liked Mon-El's advice to Kara regarding Lena. I hope it sticks with her.
Regarding the ending, it was needed to be said. Lena's worst fear is becoming the villain and like Kara said, if Lena continues down this path, she will have now choice but to treat her like one. Kara wasn't calling Lena a villain at the moment. But, having Lena hear this from her (ex) best friend, has got to hurt. I definitely think we will see Lena second guessing herself in the upcoming episodes. Robert Rovner abd Jessica Queller, Supergirl's showrunners, did an interview with Entertainment Weekly and Rovner said that we will see Lena second guessing herself and contemplating what she's doing.
I truly don't think Lena will go through with Non Nocere. Yes, I know in 5x14 she moves forward with it. But who's to say at the end of the episode she stops herself? She'll have to do it quietly though because Lex definitely has plans for Non Nocere.
So yes, I do think by the end of the season, Lena will have come around or be close to fully coming around. Rovner said they (Kara and Lena) will come full circle at the end end of the season. So that's my hope. That they will become friends again. This interview just cemented it.
10/10 episode. Great performances by all! I loved seeing all the cameos! I've missed Odette so much! Sam was a very missed character. I'm sad Calista want able to make her schedule work to appear in the episode, but I'm glad they referenced her.
I'm hopeful for the rest of the season. :)
Supergirl: Back from the Future - Part Two (2020)
Not an episode I would rewatch.
I don't really enjoy this episode. I mean it was good, but I wouldn't it rewatch it. There's also the fact that they advertised this episode as a romance episode and that turned a lot of people off, and I'm not talking about just shippers. Go under the promo for 5x12 on YouTube and you will see causal viewers saying they aren't interested in the storyline. They could have promoted Winn or Brainy, but instead they promoted a romance storyline that wasn't even in the forefront of the episode and quite honestly isn't really needed. Basically they need to do better. I would only rewatch this to see the cliffhanger that would lead in the 100th episode, "It's a Super Life."
Also, Kelly only having like two scenes in these past few episode is annoying. And where was Nia?! I know the actors had other things, but they could have easily filmed a scene or two.
Some good things from this episode where Kara and Alex finally teaming up again, Winn getting closure with his father and the Leviathan plot moving forward finally.
So yeah, I hope they do a better job at promoting the 100th episode since it's the biggest episode ever. I'm pretty excited for it. I can't wait to see Kara see different timelines and outcomes. It seems like it be one hell of a ride.
