We can't forget Mr Pandit! no, never!
19 April 2023
Not a masterpiece but certainly not a bore or a let down or a cliche either. The film revolves around an innocent school teacher and then ofcoarse showcases his journey to a totally different path. Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla play their parts very very well and it's something you haven't seen them into before.

The journey throughout the film is something to witness from start to end and every single cast member has delivered well, be it the leads or the antagonists and along with them, the people who supported.

And last but not the least, the exotic locations! Simple yet captivating.

Overall, one of the most engaging films to come across and once you come across the protagonist, you just cannot forget him. Trust me!

A refreshing take on horror from Bolly!
23 March 2021
If something really grabs you right from the first frame, it is the atmosphere! Indeed a genuinely chilling atmosphere keeps you hooked throughout and the next big thing is this sneaky peaky witch!

What makes this film amazing is the amazing combination of comic events and terror all the time. The three dudes deliver a fabulous performance, followed by a spine chilling act by the female lead.

What I primarily liked about the film is its original refreshing take on horror and indeed a break from the Ramsay pattern.

Good direction, amazing performances and a spine chilling storytelling makes this film worthwhile.

I will go with a 9.5 out of 10!

Ps : Definitely awaiting a sequel sometime in future.

An absolute chill out film! Get your popcorns and chips ready guys.
13 March 2021
Indeed, a refreshing change from the regular garbage offered in the name of films in Bollywood. Now, Zoya is a person to adore and the specially the fact that being a lady, she is really familiar with male perspectives.

Performance wise, the three dudes have an amazing chemistry, no doubt about that. But, what really surprised me was Katrina Kaif in a refreshingly fresh performance and wish she would pick up such roles in future, as it is rare to see open minded female characters.

Overall, a really joyride with good music and amazing chemistries

My rating would be 9.7 out of 10.

Freaking laugh riot packaged with great action!
10 August 2020
Crazy, insane and hilarious would be the words to describe this film. I try hard to see a flaw in this film, but! Nope, its impossible to find one!

Normally it appears to be a don crime oriented drama, but is executed in an unapologetically funny way, right from the very beginning. Coming to the cast, every single dude and chick delivers a mind-blowing performance. Also, watch out for Om Puri in a short cameo.

However, if there is one person to steal the limelight, it is Paresh Rawal, who can kill you by tickling your bones to laughter. Rest everyone is equally good.

The film provides great comic relief, alongside some excellent action sequences!

My rating would be 9.7 out of 10!

Drugs, romance and action, a thrilling joyride!
10 August 2020
Gumrah is one of those films that start off slow, but soon gain a rapid pace. The best way to describe would be the word 'unpredictable', as what starts as a normal drama, ends up being a crime thriller.

Now, coming to the performances, Sridevi is the light of the show! The character she plays, does total justice to this talented expressive actress, specially when we witness her transformation from this jolly naive girl to the combative chick!

Supporting her, are a group of very talented cast including Anupam Kher and Sanjay Duty, who lend great support. however it is Rahul Roy, who will surprise you in a brief yet effective role.

Speaking of the music, most songs are fabulously executed and are honey to the ears.

Overall, the film is a great joy ride, though sometimes dragging, it nevertheless entertains to you unbiasedly.

My rating would be 9 out of 10.

A worthy sequel, but not perfect!
11 July 2020
The prequel shook many beliefs and grounds. However, this sequel does make sence!

The very fact that the protagonist in the film gets inspired from the prequel, is itself a very scary and creative aspect of the film. To be very honest, the film does provide a compelling and engaging atmosphere around, but as compared to its prequel, it gets a bit extreme and over the top!

Long story short, The cast performance is excellent and Martin totally steals the show!

Tom Six once again showcases the innovative concept in a new form, and manages to impress again. However, Beware of the gore out here!

Overall, a worthy sequel and my rating would be 8.4 out of 10

A refreshing take on horror and the notion of 'what is a scary movie'
11 July 2020
Normally we are used to horrifying elements such as vampires, zombies and perhaps to some extent, even cannibalism. However, this film crosses limits and thinks out of the box!

Tom Six is one helluva innovative guy, who brings a very capable cast with a totally wicked script. But what makes the film engaging is the extremely haunting atmosphere around and the realism of the terror happening to the victims.

Definately one should look forward to a film like this and engage in this new territory of fear!

My rating would be a 9.5 out of 10.

A very innovative movie from Hassan!
11 July 2020
Normally I am a huge fan of Kamal, and somehow this film also managed to grab my attention!

Alavandhan successfully showcases the extreme talent of Kamal Hasan, as pulling off two very different roles is no less than a challenge. The music is pretty good and what really engaged me was the gripping atmosphere throughout.

However, I would not give the film a full rating as the concluding elements really drag a bit!

Anyhow, it's a great experience! My rating would be 8.2 out of 10. Definitely worth a watch.

Takes you back to the lavish era of Lucknow!
26 December 2018
First of all let me start with a famous old quote "Love blossoms in Lucknow"!

As the above quote says love really did blossomed in Lucknow in the Tawaif era, which is very clearly highlighted in this movie. The entire culture, the entire set up and everything from the cosmetics to the acting easily glues you to the screen.

Now coming to the direction, Ali does a fabulous work here and brings the urdu old feeling brilliantly out here.

Performances wise Rekha is brilliant. No words to express her role in here. She is a wonder to see. Her chemistry with every single lead be it Raj Babbar or Farooq Sheikh is a pleasure to watch.

Supporting her is a wide range of actors like Prema Narayan, Dina Pathak and Yunuz Parvez.

Overall a brilliant experience of old Lucknow.

Amitabh at his heroic best!
24 December 2018
As we all know Amitabh had started with a fantastic Zanjeer then progressed to Sholay, evolved to Agneepath and now finally concludes his Hero venture with this wonderful film.

This film has its moments and the very best part of this movie is its music. The rythm sense of this movie is fantastic and it only excells the chemistry between Amitabh and Soundarya who plays the better half very well.

The rest are good and lend good support to the two leads including a brilliant comic timing by Anupam Kher and Kader Khan, the two seasoned stalwarts.

Overall a very enjoyable film! Must for Amitabh fans.

Silent yet loud!
22 December 2018
This is surely one of a kind film that has no linguistic restrictions and yet manages to convey multiple emotions!

Saying that Kamal hassan has done a fabulous job will be an understatement because he is open to all emotions here without uttering a single word.

This film is very relatable to the average indian who will understand every scene and has the freedom to imagine his/her own dialogue at that particular moment.

The other co stars give excellent support to Kamal throughout the movie.

Overall a wonderful experience!

The Amitabh Rekha journey!
22 December 2018
This film really blew me away! Something about this film that really helps you relate to its situations and Amitabh was somehow the best choice for this film.

His role of Amit has two diverse sides. One in the first half and the second one around interval. Both sides are played brilliantly by Amitabh brilliantly.

Rekha and Prem provide great support and so does Utpal Dutt!

One of the best films you will ever come across!
18 December 2018
Gone are those days when films were more about storytelling and that too simple stories that one can relate to.

Well Katha is one such film that grabs your soul right from the beginning and neither tries to impress nor amuse you randomly. It just shows the events as they could appear.

Performances are outstanding and the entire cast is too perfect with Naseer and Farooq being the perfect leads.

Overall a great experience and really worth watching!

Surprisingly a good film!

An interesting film that focuses on female exploitation. Shabana did very well as the lead lady. One cannot help but be amazed at her changing from one form to other as she gets deep in life.

A good one.

You cannot dare to miss this film!
13 December 2018
What makes this film unique?

Firstly it challenges the contemporary notions of Bollywood where the savior and the Messiah is only the male actor or actors, and alsow the notion that females have to be subservient to the male.

This film however manages to flip to the other side of the coin and offers us a female protagonist! That is Nandini played brilliantly by Karishma.

Contrasting her is this rural beast Narsimha played to perfection by Nana. The next best element is the rural setting that almost scares you even in broad daylight.

Sanjay Kapoor gives in good support to the entire scenario and the chemistry between him and Karishma is mind blowing!

Very sweet yet strong at the same time!
12 December 2018
Being a fan of Benegal I decided to give this film a chance and wow I was absolutely surprised!

The primary thing in the movie is obviously the fantastic performance by none other than Boman! This guy has revived the definition of what really good acting is in this current generation.

Joining hands with him is the talented and gorgeous Minisha Lamba who gives a great hand in glove support.

Speaking of the rest, everyone has done a really great job of their roles. Oh yes there is a fabulous performance from Ravi Kissen here supported aptly by Sonali Kulkarni.

Overall a really good film that deserves to be appreciated and this is really one of those films that irrespective of plot and grandeur casting, still manages to impress you

Not your typical joint family venture
11 December 2018
Anupam Kher once again proves that he can easily manage roles that are even beyond his age range. He was a delight to watch and his mannerisms are easily relatable.

Coming to the next best thing is the wonderful chemistry between Raj Babbar and Rekha! Even though the couple doesn't indulge in a typical romantic song or a romance situation, they are still a delight to watch because the couple looks very very real!

The third best thing is the overall cast collaboration! One of the very few films I have seen where there is good emphasis even on the extras that support the leads.

There are a lot of fabulous actors in this film apart from the leads, so much that mentioning them will make me write an essay!

Watch it!

Ana amazing film that gives you a very very warm experience!
10 December 2018
Well firstly the film had a lot of surprises and one of which was the amazing concept of innocent con co-stars. The father son duo was a great treat with Amitabh giving a great timing and Abhishek giving a good contribution to the overall film.

And yes ofcoarse Rani! She is too good to ignore and too cute for a con girl. What excells in the entire film are the fabulous dialogues and that too delivered with good timing.

Shaad is a very amazing director and I do hope he comes back with something soon.

Overall a great watch! And totally fun to watch!

Not very adequate! But nevertheless very enjoyable!
8 December 2018
Well honestly I really really enjoyed this film a lot. The film is the only hindi contribution from Ray and the other exception being Sadgati.

Now coming to the performances, the casting is brilliant from Attenborough to Saeed to Amjad and yes ofcourse the brilliant Sanjeev kumar! They all provide apt and superb performances.

In a very brief small surprise we have Shabana and Victor joining the leads, who give equally well hands!

One must look out for Amjad Khan specially! His role as this very silent, feminine and demure king is something you will really really love.

And well ofcoarse Shabana as the frustrated wife of the nawab is simply fun to watch. Her role is very brief but very very aptly executed!

Overall a fun film to watch out for!

A simple, sweet and a totally enlightened movie!
7 December 2018
Very very rare are the totally simplified films these days in the era of exaggerated and technology oriented movie making. Ferrari ki sawari is one such film that really makes you believe that simple movie making does really exist.

Okay, now for the performances, Sharman Joshi gives a fabulous performance as the dad going to any deapth to uplift his talented son. However the real show stealer is none other than Boman Irani.

Irani plays his role with such honesty and explicitly that one can't help but can either admire him or relate with him. His is simply phenomenal.

Supporting both the actors is this young kid who plays the role of the son of Sharman. He is just amazing!

Oh yes! Not to mention Paresh Rawal in a brief surprising role.

Overall this film is really worth watching!

The real and the reel life!
1 December 2018
Well nothing much say except that the film really blew me away. What made this exceptionally brilliant is the amazing huge star cast but moreover their amazing appearance gradually.

Smitha Patil is breathtaking as the main protagonist, one of her ever best films on female centric characters. She will surely be remembered for this role. Supporting her is the amazing Amol Palekar who is brutal but human at the same time as Keshav.

Following them is a series of great performances from Anant, Naseer ,Agashe and Sulbha Deshpande. However the biggest surprise was Amrish Puri! Who was really really spellbinding as this calm gentle yet patriarchal man who is very much into his own principles.

Overall worth watching and a total 10 on 10 from my side.

One of the most realistic films to come out in recent times!
26 November 2018
Its very rare today to see a depressing, distressing and realistic film, where every other film around is so full of vanity, colors, wardrobes and ofcourse happy endings!

Even throughout the depressing moments and the tensions around, this film manages to maintain a dim light of positivity that seems to come from some small hole in the dark walls that surrounds this film.

Speaking of performances, this is my very first film of Rajkumar Rao and frankly speaking I was very very impressed by his presence throughout the film. Something about his innocent yet smart (not the street one) character that really captured me.

The guy and the lady who plays his brother and mother respectively are totally brilliant and believable.

Overall, all I have to say is that I really enjoyed the film and yes the dialogues are music to the ears.

Ps : a brief role from Kk Menon will surely surprise you!

Nishant (1975)

Spectacular film that enlightens and frightens at the same time!
26 November 2018
I have seen very art films and this film is one of those very few. Normally films based on rural India are raw and real, well this film is no exception.

Now, I got introduced to Benegal through 'Zubaida'. Ever since then I got addicted to his works and eventually came across Nishant. Somehow what blew me away was the brilliant cast performances that makes the whole scenario very believable.

While Anant and Agashe play the cruel, sarcastic and womanizer brothers, its Nasser who gives you a breath of relief. On the other hand are Shabana and Girish who are a very devoted couple but then something just breaks through them.

On the third hand are the landlord Amrish, the shoe licker cop Kulbhushan and the innocent convict Sadhu.

Now these are the three sets of teams which sum up the entire film very very well. And oh yes how can you forget the lady of mysteriest Smitha!.

A very minor but strong credit goes to the lady who played 'Pochamma'. Her presence is very brief but strong at the same time.

Overall, please do watch this film and trust me you are gonna remember this piece for quite a long time.

Not exactly a sequel! But not a bad one either!
24 November 2018
Okay well quite a few surprises out here. Good ones though. Even though the film cannot be compared with Gangajal, it somehow appears as a very female version of the former.

Okay now for the surprises, Priyanka succeeds in becoming the female version of Ajay's character. She is very believable and really good. Its good to see a female solo in films stand out really well.

The second surprise is Jha himself! We have all known him as this very determined director.....well now presenting actor Jha! He really stands out as the corrupt cop who gradually recovers into a good one.

Overall, see this film for its fine performances and really well made characterizations.

Not perfect! But not bad either!

That young dashing cutie called Govinda
23 November 2018
You are gonna really love every aspect of this very unheard, unhyped but totally mildly entertaining piece of cinema.

The first lovable factor is the actor Govinda himself. No wonder in the 80s he looked his cutest. In support is the wonderful and remarkable Kader Khan who gives an immensely brilliant support. You will be blown away by their comic chemistry!

Opposite him is the gorgeous Mandakini and she and Govinda makes a great pair on screen.

Amongst the other supporters Nirupaji lends a good hand.

Long story short, if you are looking forward to a good light hearted film, go for this!
