My first review of 2019 goes to Escape Room. I didn't expect much and I didn't get much, but that's not saying this is a bad movie; it was actually quite good for what it is. Six people trapped in different escape rooms trying get out can be really tense at times depending on what's going on. The acting and dialogue can be very meh at times, but other than that, it's a pretty solid movie. 7.5/10

Bird Box (2018)

I got tired of hearing about "Bird Box", so I decided to see it for myself. One word. Awesome. It was so great seeing so many good actors in the same film, two of those being Sandra Bullock and Trevante Rhodes (who is great in anything he plays in). It has a very Quiet Place feel, and if you enjoy that movie, then you'll probably enjoy this. I think Bird Box is a fantastic film and quite possibly one of the best films I've seen all year. 10/10

The Mule (2018)

Clint Eastwood strikes again with "The Mule". Earl sort of reminds me of Walter White. A man who knows you can't buy time. Some people might find this film "racist" or "sexist" and if you do... well I feel bad for you. I will admit this movie isn't for everyone, but ignore the hate that it is getting. This is a brilliant and well directed film that I think most movie goers should see this year. Any fan of Clint will most likely be happy. 9.5/10

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Fans of Goodfella's and Casino should definitely check this one out. The Wolf of Wall Street is blunt, vile, and sometimes in your face, but that is what makes it great. Leonardo DiCaprio's portrayal of Jordan Belfort is on point (in my opinion should have been the role he won an Oscar for). Definitely a fun ride if you enjoy Scorsese films. 10/10

Pet Sematary (1989)

If you're a fan of Stephen King's work then Pet Sematary is a must watch. The acting isn't the greatest but the story and how it makes you think is what makes this movie. A classic horror film indeed. 9/10

I really wanted to like this movie. When I saw the trailer, I thought it wouldn't be that bad. It was, and wasn't. I admire that they at least put effort into the Leprechaun. Sure, he might not look like the original, but I think he looks damn good. I will say there was a lot of cringy scenes, but that has to go with the writing. If you have seen all the Leprechaun films then check this one out. Fans of the first will probably enjoy that this is a direct sequel, but it doesn't live up to the hype.

The Raven (I) (2012)

I don't know all too much about Edgar Allen Poe, and if you're looking for something to watch to find out more information on him, then this is not the movie. With that being said, the movie is still really good. It's a compelling mystery with twist and turns you won't see coming. I will say the resolution isn't really what you'd expect, but the rest of the film makes up for that in great acting, atmosphere, and story. If you're already a Poe fan definitely give this a watch, there might be something to be found. 8.5

King Kong (2005)

I remember watching King Kong when it first came out and I loved every second of it. Watching it now, not much has changed, but I will say I do feel different about some things. While visual effects and atmosphere are great, I feel like certain scenes are rushed, and given the movie is over three hours long that would almost seem impossible. If you want a long epic tale then you will find it with King Kong. If you have seen the recent Kong Skull Island Movie, then definitely give this one a watch. 9.5/10

Full Metal Jacket (1987)

Full Metal Jacket is another classic war movie I think everyone should watch. I will admit that the first hour or so is the best, but that doesn't rule out the rest of the movie. Split into two distinct parts, boot camp training, and combat in Vietnam, Full Metal Jacket doesn't fail to suck you into the experience. It might not be as action packed as other movies in its categories, but it will play with your mind from time to time. 10/10

Casino (1995)

Casino is a wild ride from start to finish. Being a fan of Goodfella's and Wolf of Wall Street was enough to get my blood pumping before watching this film. Martin Scorsese makes amazing films and this is one of his best yet. There is something going on in every scene, and I would seriously recommend watching this film if you love any of the previous films I listed above. One classic movie indeed. 10/10

Francis Ford Coppola never disappoints. If you love war movies Apocalypse Now is a much watch. Even if you don't like war movies I still think there's a lot enjoy from this film. An amazing soundtrack, some of the best acting I've ever seen, and I story that will keep you wondering until the very end, Apocalypse Now is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Mandy (I) (2018)

Mandy is a hell of a movie, and I guarantee you won't find anything like it. Nicholas Cage made a wise choice choosing something different, and different this movie is. I will say I didn't understand much about the story, but that's okay considering I think it's best you don't know what's going on half the time. The reason to watch this movie is because it's trippy and very atmospheric. The movie is a slow burn, but it's one of those movies that you need to see to understand how different it is. 8/10

Battlefield V (2018 Video Game)

Battlefield V takes us back to WWII (which in my opinion is a bad thing) but finds a way to work really well. The story lacks in a whole lot of content, and I don't understand why a lot of content is locked at release (because it is 2018) I still find Battlefield V to be an enjoyable game. Grand Operations is what saves Battlefield V in my opinion. It consist of several days and different game modes. It gives Battlefield that gritty war feel and I can appreciate that. I can see this game getting better with content, but right now we have to deal with what we have. 8/10

Fallout 76 (2018 Video Game)

If you're a fan of Fallout prepare to be disappointed. Fallout 76 is a buggy mess that shouldn't have even been released in the first place. I will admit the game has a great atmosphere, but if you want a great story, characters, gameplay, and any other thing that makes a game great then you won't find it here. There's is some minor fun to be had in Fallout 76, but that is just it. 5/10

Call of Cthulhu is what you make of it. The story and replay ability is somewhat strong, but lacks in the graphics and fun department. If you've played a walking simulator or a survival horror game then you know what you're getting yourself into. The games is not bad, there's just not much to it. 7/10

There's a chance I might be in the minority, but that's okay. I thought this movie was bad. Aside from having amazing special effects and an extremely strong opening, this movie has nothing going for it. I was a huge fan of the first movie, and thought this had potential to be as good, if not better. We have to go through this movie to get to the others, so check it out if you're a fan, and only a fan. 5/10

I rarely watch animated movies, so I didn't expect much going into this one. I have to say I like the original and Jim Carrey ones better, but this is still fun. For a family movie, or just a movie to go see with a friend or girlfriend, I think this is a good flick to see going into the holidays! 7/10

I saw this film when it first came out and loved it! After watching it again after years I have to say it has aged pretty well. If you are a fan on "Groundhog Day" type movies then you'd really like this! 9/10

Overlord (2018)

Okay, first off I want to say that this movie almost has the best opening title sequence I have ever seen. The film follows a group of soldiers as they try and shut down a tower occupied by the Nazi's. From there, all hell breaks loose. The film starts off strong, but struggles as it progresses. It's like a slow burn that picks up, but then slows back down as the movie moves forward. Sometimes it can become inconsistent, but gets made up for by the great acting and awesome atmosphere. Overlord is a fun take on the "Nazi zombie" genre even if it's slow from time to time.

Interstellar (2014)

So far Nolan has not disappointed. Interstellar is a mind twister. From its beautiful visuals, to its great and superb acting Interstellar is a much watch. The world is coming to an end and Matthew McConaughey (who is easily the best actor in this movie) must try and find humanity a new place to live. Without getting into spoilers definitely check this film out. You will not be disappointed. 9/10

Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

Watching the tale of Queen on the big screen was an absolute treat. The cinematography and acting was amazing and seeing how the band came together and claimed their fame was entertaining. The story itself was more about Freddy Mercury than anything, but that's not to say the rest of the band didn't have a huge role themselves. The level of detail was amazing and they couldn't have found better actors to use to portray everyone involved. Bohemian Rhapsody is a must watch for any Queen fan. 9/10

Gaming doesn't get changed in big ways often. Red Dead Redemption 2 exceeded all my expectations and more. You follow Arthur Morgan this time around, a raging outlaw who can either be the baddest of the bad, or the nicest of the bad. From the compelling story, vast and beautiful open world (probably the best in console gaming today), and exciting soundtrack, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a must play for all gamers. Definitely the best game I've played all year.

Dunkirk (2017)

I'd be lying if I said I knew a lot about the real events that inspired "Dunkirk", but I think the film summed it up just fine. Christopher Nolan has still got it, and I think any Nolan fan should see this. The one thing this film doesn't rely on is acting. Sure, you have to have good acting in a film, but in this case it's different. The epic cinematography and tense scenes are what makes this movie. With that being said, I would be lying if I said the movie wasn't a little bit boring and kinda suffers for it at times. Dunkirk is an enjoyable film with some rough edges, but pays off in the end. 7/10

Halloween (I) (2018)

Halloween 2018 was definitely my most anticipated film of the year. Even though I was mildly disappointed, I won't deny that this was a good and well made film. 40 years has passed and Michael Myers has escaped. Unlike the original, Laurie Strode is prepared and ready to take on the man that tried to kill her long ago. First off, I loved the score. I would honestly go as far as saying this has the best soundtrack in the series. The music was perfect for every scene. Also, the cinematography and atmosphere was great, but didn't give me the vibe from the original. What made the movie was Michael and Laurie. Their two characters stole the show and was a blast to watch every second. With that being said, I thought some of the decisions for the movie were pointless and as much as I'd like to hate on the comedy, it was a nice addition. My main thing was the ending. I thought the ending was not good at all, but I won't get into spoilers. Halloween is a good movie, I do believe it is a worthy follow-up to the original, but it does have its flaws. 8/10

Life (I) (2017)

One thing I can say about Life is if you're a fan of Alien, you will love this. The film follows a group of astronauts as they find a life form from Mars. The characters make this movie and you can't help but feel for each one as the movie progresses. Tension is around every corner as these characters try to survive in the emptiness of space. Life is a great alternative to Alien, and with great tension, characters, and atmosphere, this will go down as a classic for sure. Oh and that ending! 9/10
