Eating History (2020)
Great concept, educational yet lacks that punch.
The whole show is a pretty fun concept, it gives you an insight into the history of food as well a bit of entertainment. Josh (co host) does a great job and you can see his excitement when he begins to get deeper into the historical side of things. The co- host known as "Old Smokey" while he is Informative and possesses great knowledge in regards to foods history particularly that of World War MRE rations. However, his bland and wooden presenting fails him, when you have someone with clear high energy and excitement like Josh giving you entertainment and someone like Old Smokey seeming to let off a no nonsense approach it draws away from the value of it. If the concept was tweaked this could work, however with the approach with the approach they opted for Old Smokey just doesn't fit the fitting, the curtain don't match the drapes, so to say.
I'll continue to watch the show, I just hope that they tweak the concept a little more to show some actual personality from Old Smokey as he does have great knowledge.
Joker (2019)
Brilliant, Raw and intriguing take on The Joker.
The movie is dark, it's gritty and intense at times. Its a movie that gets the discussion going on so many questions that we ask within society today. Todd Phillips has done such a sublime job he not only handled the entire movie with care and attention to detail but he raised topics that are still being spoken and debated about today. Joaquin was perfection, DONT go into this thinking it's going to be the in the same realm as Heath Ledgers Joker it's so different. Almost like two different genres.
Overall this is the best movie I've seen 2019, I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. It's slower burner of a movie and the pay off is brilliant.
10/10.
This is a fantastic route for DC to follow. Stay on this path.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Visuals great, story horrendous
Character development thrown out the window, story a mess, this is lost level quality. Glad my watch has ended.
The Nun (2018)
It had potential..but it went down the drain.
This isn't your generic horror movie, it's much worse. Without stepping into spoiler territory I'll keep it to the point.
The first 20mins starts off pretty decent but after that it just becomes sad. Typical jump scares throughout the movie you can literally see them all coming, crusafix turning upside down, it's just more of the same stuff. The acting was good, there is a particularly over dramatic character who did a pretty good job.
When James Wan created this universe of horror and paranormal it was fantastic, I honestly feel that the director Corin Hardy done a half assed job. This movie could of been HUGE! But he failed at being original and instead tried to be comercial. Literally nothing amazing or worth remembering comes from this movie. You will forget 99% of it by the time you go to bed. I actually think Corin Hardy may have just ended the conjuring universe. However we do have Halloween soon.
My opinion keep Corin Hardy away from horrors and leave him to his fairies and more. If there is a sequel find someone else. This was an insult of a movie to those horror fanatics!
avoid.
Londyn (2018)
Really scraping the barrel.
Straight in at episode 2, I gotta say the acting in this show is ridiculous, literally zero emotion and believability. Sure they look good but this is kinda insulting to people who care about art of acting. I can't get over how poor the script is!! The actors sound so robotic there it's as if there is zero confidence in the atmosphere. The story is pretty generic and basic, very predictable don't expect to be shocked or blown away it's easy to see it from a mile a way. I won't say much to avoid spoilers, but believe me. The only thing this show will spoil is your whole day. Some of the locations were pretty nice.
The woman who plays Londyn has a nice voice. The guy who played Effiel was possibly one of the poorest peformers I've been seeing, looked like he was randomly found and told to repeat lines or else he wouldn't eat for a month.
Wouldn't recommend.
