3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Very Good Remake
I do not know whether to call this western a true remake as it is based on a story by Elmore Leonard and therefore it may be better to be called an adaptation of that story, just as the previous film version was its own adaptation of the same. In either case I would still say the filmmakers did a terrific job and the acting is spectacular. There have been a few westerns like this that have come out over the past couple of decades which we will call newer adaptations of earlier works, and this one is my favorite.
Infinity Baby (2017)
Wow!
I am actually pretty surprised that this film received such a mediocre score. It should be much more famous. To be clear I had my fair share of trepidation before watching the film and was not expecting to finish it or enjoy it.
But I was sucked in. It is nice and short and to the point. It is funny. It is unique and original. The premise is so simple so as to seem obvious even, but it is one I had never seen before on film or anywhere else.
The only reason I give it nine stars instead of ten was because I do not care for some of the actors in this film and feel they were possibly miscast. Although they all did a decent job in their roles I feel they could have gotten better actors who are not as annoying. I stand by my scoring. It is good.
Dope (2015)
Surprisingly Good
I was not expecting to like this movie. I didn't know anything about it other than the title and the cover. And based on those two things I thought I would probably turn it off within the first five minutes, let alone sit thru the entire thing.
But I kept an open mind and I popped it in the player. And I am happily writing a good review for it now. Within the first five minutes I was totally drawn into the story and had completely forgotten that I had ever had any qualms about it to begin with.
I was so engrossed in the film that I forgot I didn't even want to watch it! It's not a second too long or two short, and the story flies by and leaves you wanting more. It was almost two hours long, but it felt like it was over in forty-five minutes because I really just got into it so much.
