This movie has a coming of age feel. Stong family values. Movie also explores parent and child relationships as well as friendships, family legacy, leaving behind a legacy as you get older , identity and individualism vs community/family. Movie did not have as many funny jokes as Afterlife or the 84 movies, in my opinion . Acting was good. Action was good. Practical effects were awesome! See Adam Savages videos. Some takeaways: take advice from people who know and care about you. Don't write off your family. Don't communicate with occult.

a more consistent Batman story than The Batman

An interesting take on Batman and his universe. The setting ( time period) was interesting. The interpretation of the villains was well done. But I would have wanted to see more batman in 1920s. Would have wanted to see Catwoman and Constantine. Story kept the core of what makes Batman/Bruce a hero. Story was easy to follow and kept me entertained. It did not seem predictable as other Batman stories are sometimes. Animation was well done and should age well unlike CGI and live action. I got the comicbook soon after watching the movie because I wanted to see more of the story and compare with the movie. Definitely will rewatch.

There is this idea that movies have to be entertaining, fun, and Academy Award level or they get dismissed (e.g., The 15:17 to Paris). This movie along with the others in the series, in my opinion, is not meant to be those things but meant to inspire discussion on truth, morality, government, religion through stories that are based on real events and current events.
