How to Fall in Love by Christmas (2023)
Not very good
I started watching this movie with high expectations because Teri Hatcher brings me so many good memories from her days as Lois in Lois and Clark. Unfortunately, this movie is very boring, has no soul, and the protagonists have no chemistry whatsoever. I do not know why, but the role didn't suit Teri at all (she seemed forced) Her on screen partner looked too young to play her love interest, and both of their parts were lukewarm and bland. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the role of her sister, who did a much better job than Teri bringing her part to life. I also enjoyed the part of the nephew played by a very talented young boy. The movie would have benefited from more interaction between the protagonists, the sister, and the young boy which were the best parts since the romance was not there. I cringed when the man and boy need a place to stay, and the sister offers them her house, but the protagonist didn't like the idea and looks even upset (how on Earth would she have been upset when she's supposed to like him and has the chance to be close to him) In the end, every conflict got solved in a matter of five minutes, they kiss (with no passion at all) and lived happily ever after as in every predictable Christmas rom com ever made. It honestly took me like 4 times to be able to finish watching this. Teri is a talented actress, but I felt this was not her cup of tea. I feel sorry to say this, but unfortunately she hasn't aged well, and the rom com leading lady doesn't suit her anymore. She needs strong roles, and maybe a screen partner with more chemistry, and who looks a little older to make it credible.
Modern Persuasion (2020)
Oh my God, Jane Austen is turning in her grave
There's very little that's good about this movie, but the worst are the protagonists. No chemistry, no charm, nothing. The actress playing the lead honestly made me cringe. Even teenagers in school plays can act better. She seemed plastic, childish, clumsy (that way of dancing and walking) and just generally bad. Not a sign of the strong lead that Jane Austen wrote. Don't lose two hours of your time watching.
The Celebrity Dating Game (2021)
I really wanted to like it but...
Zoey seems like a very sweet person, but she is just too bubbly, artificial, and forced here. Michael Bolton seems like a last minute addition. He is kind of annoyed by being there and we are too. It is a show that you can just turn on and keep doing chores around the house with it as background noise.
When Calls the Heart: The Kiss (2021)
A great finale for season 8
The last episode was everything that a fan could have hoped for. Rosemary writes her first newspaper edition, Lee will run for mayor. Henry seems to be going on a trip to find his love Abigail. Hickman gets to manage the oil company. Carson leaves town to complete his fellowship. Faith stays to run the infirmary. Jesse is found, and he and Clara go on a second honeymoon, having recovered their money. Bill asks Molly to have a coffee. Ned returns to join Florence, and seems to have invented and patented the bandaid. All of the students come to school, including Angela, and show support for her being in the classroom with them. Fiona will invest in the oil business with Hickam. Nathan and Elizabeth's talk reassures him that she loves him as a friend. The best part was that Elizabeth seems to have finally been able to move on to express her love for Lucas, and takes off her rings. The scene on the bridge was perfect. Their kiss was passionate, and reflected all the years that they had waited to express their love. The bonus scene with them inside the library, as a gift of her to him, was icing on the cake. They profess they have fallen for each other, and we get a final passionate kiss. In my opinion it was the perfect finale for the season. Great writing and many story lines left to be developed in the next season.
