Volatile Earth (2017)
Interesting but not completely accurate
This 2017 miniseries of "killer" natural phenomena surprisingly does not have an episode on earthquakes.
Rehashed versions of the three episodes were screened in season 44 of the US documentary series Nova.
The episodes on hurricanes and volcanoes were interesting as far as they went, but there is so much more evidence that could have been covered about the enormous influence volcanoes have had on the shaping of the earth and on life upon it.
The episode on floods was most fascinating, but I have seen criticism by geologists that it was misleading and somewhat inaccurate. The impression was given that only recently had the formation of the Washington scablands by a massive flood been explained. In fact, however, the water source had been identified in 1910 by J T Pardee. The way the flood happened was deduced in the 1920s by J Harlan Bretz. Neither person was mentioned in this production. The description provided was actually less accurate than Bretz's.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the presentation and recommend it. 7 out of 10.
Seatbelt Psychic (2018)
Mildly Amusing Fraudster Comedy
Other reviewers seen to have taken this "medium" seriously. He supposedly drives around picking up passengers who never tell him a destination, never remark on the cameras filming them and never pay him anything.
As soon as they enter the car, he tells them there are ghosts of their relatives telling him messages to pass on.
At the start of the program is a statement that he has never met the passengers before. Maybe not, but they all happen to be actors. Sometimes overactors. And their characters happen to have families with Mafia connections or murder victims, etc. Come on!
The car is clearly not moving. Out of focus backgrounds are projected outside of the windows as he pretends to drive. Cameras film from multiple angles, including from outside the windscreen and closeups of the passengers.
This guy turned from being a drag queen performer to doing this "medium" schtick in this show and on stage. Google him.
Everyone claiming to be a medium is a fraud.
The Investigator: A British Crime Story (2016)
Twenty minutes stretched into four boring hours
Spoiler alert: you won't learn much and nothing interesting happens.
Another example of those infuriating "documentaries" which have little or nothing to say and take forever to expound their "information".
The story of a dimwitted murderer and fraudster, his dimwitted mistress and accomplice, the dimwitted police who investigated and a dimwitted man who takes it upon himself to re-investigate but finds nothing useful.
Never mind. He still can make some money from a deadly slow, repetitive four part series.
