Ham on Rye (2019)
Isolation at pivotal ages
This is how it feels for anyone whose life is derailed and is forced to omit crucial rites of passage. There's this overwhelming fear that you'll be a townie irreversibly if you take a year off before going to college and everyone seems to vanish. This movie summarizes that feeling perfectly.
Station Eleven (2021)
Deceptive First Episode
I think structuring the show around these jarring time jumps could have been interesting but I really only cared about the outbreak. It's a story about a girl who was a child actor in Shakespearean plays, then the world ended, and then her skill set continued to be extremely important to everyone left in the world according to this show. This is mostly a show about a theater troupe arguing about how to do Shakespeare in the post apocalypse. If you read that previous sentence and thought "that sounds cool" and "it makes sense that a group of creative artistic theater people are great survivors in the apocalypse and acting is the most coveted resource" then watch station eleven.
No Exit (2022)
This movie is hilarious
I was laughing so hard at the "twist". I don't think the creators of this movie have ever met or talked to a person or been in an uncomfortable situation. The stakes elevate and plummet rapidly depending on if the movie remembers certain things it set up. I want to give it a 1 or a 10 for how funny the climax is.
The Mandela Effect (2019)
Imagine an alternate reality
Where a guy who just made a reddit account and started listening to Joe Rogan got to make an entire movie.
The House on Pine Street (2015)
Scary...!
It's really scary to watch a movie made by people that have never interacted with another human being in their entire lives! If someone can explain to me ONE message that exists in this movie I would love to hear it. It is nothing but loose ends spilling out of bad actors mouths.
He's Out There (2018)
Hilarious
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Everything they set up has no payoff. I think the director is just scared of the outdoors and thinks showing a lake warrants a jump scare noise. There are no characters in this movie. Just mistake machines. No one has character traits and there's no reason for anything that happens.
