Primer (2004)
Great movie, bad execution!
I think the movie is not very well made. They have made this movie much more complex than it should be. It took me a while to gather what was going on, and not that I didn't got it, it's just that it could have been better. Definitely a good blueprint for future movies.
Acting felt realistic, only if the director could tell the story in a better way, the movie could have been a solid 10 from me.
Titli (2014)
Not your usual Bollywood movie, a hidden gem I must say.
Solid performances by both actor and the actress. Ranveer shorey was great as well, the story and the environment the movie created was really well made. Must watch in my opinion.
Bahut Hua Sammaan (2020)
Breath of fresh air
Really good movie, great acting by raghav and sanjay mishra. Good for a one time watch. Just get some popcorn and chill kind of movie.
Review kya dekhta, jaake movie dekh 😜
Army of the Dead (2021)
Batista's daughter Kate was the real villain!!
I had high expectations from the movie and am disappointed heavily. Kate's character was so annoying people died from her ignorant attitude of saving her idiot friend geeta while sacrificing the full team.
The story is very simple as well, just like your average heist movie.
Gather a team-> try to get the money - > Run for your life.
Donnie Darko (2001)
One of a kind movie, must watch!
Complex movie which is very well directed.
Interesting plot, gripping character, mysterious, and one of a kind!
Make sure to give it a watch :)
Under the Skin (2013)
This movie doesn't spoon feed you, that's why the low rating. Do me a favor and watch this!
Not really a simple movie per say, a great movie imo!
Under the skin wasn't simply an adaptation of a book in which an alien comes to earth in order to harvest the organs of man. It was a social experiment. In order to understand this you must accept that what you saw was a movie with no real plot, and that what you watch was experimental.
The i'm 5 version: the film makes you the passive protagonists and exposes your hypocrisy about violence in movies and moral right-from-wrong.
The full analysis: Let me start off by looking at how the book ends. In the novel, she goes about harvesting the organs of men the same way, but the ending is different. On picking up one of her last victims, she comes to empathize with him as the share the same feelings. The way the book ends is that she feels conflicted about killing her last victim, but before deciding what to do she gets into a wreck which kills the man and severely injures her. Knowing that she can't be exposed, she detonates the car and thus incinerates her own body, but before doing so she stares into the sky and imagines that as soon as her body burns, those atoms will become part of this earth and thus part of the cycle of human life.
You can see how this differs greatly from the movie, and let me tell you why. First note that they never mention her name in the movie (in fact, i think at one point she even avoids answering it, and why would she considering her whole shtick is to lie to men in order to kill them?). Now consider the way it was shot. The majority was done in POV (Point of View of the spectator/movie-goer). Now recall the very first shot. It looks as though you're being forced to look out of someones retina, no? And finally, recall the last thing she sees when she sheds her skin. She sees herself looking at you, the spectator. The movie was in effect commenting on you. You were under the skin. All the horrors you watched her commit (leaving the baby behind) were things you don't protest because you convince yourself it's merely a movie.
That's all good and well, but how does it all make sense and how is this more than just arbitrary speculation? How does it expose your hypocrisy? Consider the first couple of men that sunk into that gooey mess before they disappeared? Weren't those scenes shot... beautifully? Weren't they stylistic? It is completely unrealistic in that the room they undressed was non-existent. It was an exaggeration of the violence and seduction that took place. It was a glorification of it.
Now consider how you felt when she left the baby to die. If you had any doubt that who you were watching wasn't a complete monster, this scene should have dispelled that immediately. The movie builds her up to be monstrous, but then changes the tone when she meets the guy that wants to help her out. When this happens, the movie begins to humanize her. It begins to give her some sort of personality, and the scenes that follow in which she nearly gets raped make her the victim. Now, when she is being chased, was this about her getting what she deserves? Of course not. She never chased anyone like that. They all came to her. The success of what the filmmaker was trying to do depends on your emotions in these final moments. Did you hope that she would get away? if so, then I believe the film did it's job since it exposed the way you'll correctly identify a character that should never be trusted or forgiven, but then forget that the moment you sympathize with them once for the sake of a thrilling movie experience. The statement it makes, as I said before, is that the person you judged throughout the movie, the person you felt disgust towards, should have been you the whole time.
If you didn't care if she got raped, I'd argue it still makes the same statement except that it would likely be lost on you since you achieved the gratification of yet another act of violence but this time on some character you decided deserved to die. Just keep in mind the type of act you had wished on someone in that moment.
American Psycho (2000)
Not everyone will understand what this movie is trying to say.
The author of the novel and the director of the film both say that it wasn't in his head. All of the yuppies dress the same, act the same, have the same job position (vice president), and have the same haircuts, which is why everyone always confused Patrick with someone else. Additionally, the satire was to show that everyone at the time was extremely narcissistic and superficial. The landlord of the apartment cleaned up all of the bodies and gore that Bateman left behind in order to protect the property value. The point is that Bateman is an actual psychopath who lives in a society that's somehow even more crazy than he is.
Hereditary (2018)
Overhyped movie
I wish, it was as good as people here are claiming.
Sex Education (2019)
Colorful, energetic, funny, crazy, all in all must watch!
Great acting, great script, great characterization, binge worthy!
Can't wait for the season 2!!
