First of All with Victor Blackwell (2023)
Why
First off I want to say I love Victor Blackwell. He's one of the smartest commentators on TV. However I have an issue with his Saturday morning show on CNN. Why does CNN and Victor feel we need a show only about people of color? While I understand the reason, I don't understand the why. Where's the show with just women? The disabled? With men? With Caucasians? I'm sure there's more groups but these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I guess what I'm trying to say is this show would have been much more relevant twenty years ago but I think people of color are being represented well. I'm watching a show on MSNBC right now that has a woman of color and her two guests are also people of color and they're discussing today's issues. What I'm trying to say is when I turn on a "news" channel that's what I'm interested in watching is the news not a taped show that doesn't keep me up to date on what's happening in the present time.
La Brea (2021)
10,000 BC was like nothing I ever read in a history book!
I don't understand why La Brea only received a 5.8 on IMDb. I thought it was a fantastic show. The twist and turns were some that I never would have thought of so kudos to the writers of the show. I absolutely love shows about time travel so this one was right up my alley. I always thought it would be cool to be able to close your eyes and open them and be able to see what everything around you looked like in that year. The actors were wonderful in their roles. After going through all of them and the parts they played and how they played them, I think Scott was my favorite part in the whole show. He was so smart he didn't know all the things that he knew, and started off as a nerd and scared of everything, but when it came down to it , he showed his strength. I guess looking at the rating I can understand why the show has been canceled but I really hate to see it leave. There are so many horrible shows on network TV now I would think they would keep this one running. I'm not going to give any spoilers away but, as you can imagine, being the last two episodes of the series they're very emotional.
Harry & Meghan (2022)
Against All Odds
I just finished this documentary and while the tears of happiness are running down my face, I need to give this review. I've been a witness (through TV and magazines) to the royal family from before Charles and Diana. I watched as Charles broke Diana's heart when he told the press, "Whatever Loves Means." And I watched as Diana slowly lost herself in the family. I noticed right away the same thing happening to Meghan and thought, not again! But Harry being his Mom's son, said this WILL not happen to another woman I love and with Meghan's love found the courage to tell the "firm" no. What a love story!
Dirty John (2018)
Love to hate people
Eric Bana plays one of the most vile, disgusting human beings and he nails it! There's nothing to like about his character and Eric plays him so well, I want to throw something at my TV at least 5 times an episode. And Connie Briton plays her character so well, I want to slap her across the face and yell get with it girl; stop being so naive! Both of the daughters play their characters brilliantly too. This is a show that makes you so mad you want to turn it off but can't. Love it!
A Clüsterfünke Christmas (2021)
A parody done right!
As an avid lover of Hallmark movies, I have to say this is one of the best parodies I've ever seen. To be able to pick up on all the nuances, you really have to know your Hallmark movies. All I can say is Rachel and Ana must have watched a million of these movies because they were able to capture the words and scenes perfectly. And the overacting by Holly was spot on. Cheyanne Jackson was great as Frank and I loved Percy! This will be on my list to watch every Christmas. Comedy Central you need to play this every year.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
READ THIS!
Stop what you're doing right now and watch this. I'm not going to spoil anything for you because it's too good. Kristen Bell is absolutely wonderful in this series. Is she crazy or isn't she? Watch now and find out!
The Girlfriend Experience (2016)
First two seasons great
I loved the first two seasons but the third season was horrible! The first two, I felt a part of the experiment. Very sexual and stimulating. The third season left me cold. I tried to watch the full season but couldn't make it past episode three. I never felt connected with Iris. If I said anything else, it would be spoilers. Just watch the first two and forget the third. It's such a disappointment because I looked so forward to the third installment but it didn't deliver. Boring!
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Needs captions
I'm loving the show but the accents are sometimes very hard to understand. Captions would make the show even better than it is.
