Killing Eve: Hello, Losers (2022)
Season 4, Episode 8
1/10
The worst ending in history
13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I read in an article that Laura Neal said "I hope that when 'The End' comes up (viewers) think that Eve is going to go on and have this amazing life," ERM WHAT? Does Laura even know the characters? Eve will not go on to live an amazing life after all the trauma and grief of losing the true love of her life. Especially after being betrayed. Eve would have to get revenge or give up on life herself. Leaving us with this aftermath and all these questions on the finale series is just cruel. I guess we are 'losers' as the title suggests. We all loved the acting and the production, but unfortunately, decent television is all in the writing. The original book ending is far better and would recommend that everyone reads it.

Help (2021 TV Movie)

Powerful Social Realism Drama
16 September 2021
I had a lump in my throat the whole time I watched this. Care homes are constantly open for positions due to the stigma and fast turn around of staff, yet it's one of the most emotionally and physically demanding jobs out there. Many people get jobs as carers and continue to struggle financially, and get burnt out. This film highlights this, alongside the stresses and moral dilemmas within a broken system during the pandemic and beforehand.

Overall a tremendous TV drama, and very hard hitting due to the aspects of realism. The acting, the cinematography, and the writing is some of the best I've seen in a long time. Stephen Graham and Jodie Comer's talent and on-screen chemistry is very rare. I cannot wait to see more films/series with them both together again. They better win a few awards for this one.

Workin' Moms (2017–2023)

I love this series - and I don't even have kids yet!
19 June 2021
There's not really much I can say other than to go and watch it! I binge watch every season when they come out. It's got this really awkward and sarcastic sense of humour about it which satisfies my British humour perfectly. It reminds me a LOT of another series I love called Motherland.

I love that the producers of Workin' Moms always add little shocking storylines which the viewer doesn't expect as well, it makes it even more ridiculous and amusing to watch.

Ps. I promise you do get over Catherine Reitman's lips after a while and I think they add something to her character anyways.

Didn't enjoy series 2 at all - I hope a series 3 will save it!
18 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Review of the show:

I only gave this 5 stars because I actually semi-enjoyed the first season. It had some more interesting elements to the storyline, especially relating to the themes of deceit.

However series two wasn't great at all! Robyn's character becomes a really unlikeable and frustrating character to watch. I don't mind a series that explores drug addictions, however I think it just went too far by the second series as we don't see any other interesting character developments. Just an awful lot of annoying flashbacks (a couple of these would have sufficed) and repetitive scenes that show us nothing new about the characters. I'm really frustrated they basically dropped the old boyfriend/ love interests from series one.

Overall series two really did fail on the celebrity PR crisis storylines and all other character development, when compared with the first series. Disappointed.

Potential spoiler/theory:

I'm really hoping that Robyn didn't actually lose her baby (even though she thinks she had a miscarriage), as her sister (Ruth) was talking about how her baby "just held on" so maybe this is also the case with Robyn as well? Series 3 might just save it!?

Too Close (2021)

Gripping TV Drama bringing awareness to the fragility of mental health
28 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this slow burn tv drama, although I admit it may not be for everyone. Firstly, I would not recommend this series to anyone that is currently in a dark place. I'm pretty shocked that itv didn't put specific guidance warnings, for topics of suicide as this is a very clear undercurrent throughout. It just says "Guidance: Contains strong language and upsetting scenes."

Secondly, I don't think that viewers without lived experience of mental health or known of others close to them that have, would enjoy or understand the series as much. I've noticed that some people feel this series is boring and/or unrealistic. With lived experience of mental health issues personally, I feel it's actually very accurate in many aspects. I admit it is on the extreme end (it is a TV drama after all), but I have known many people that have experienced crisis moments.

I feel the psychological aspects of this series are important, because it shows how easy it can be for someone that appears to have the "perfect" life, to change so quickly. Connie is a character that slowly becomes more isolated from her family and loved ones, and no one around her intervenes soon enough. The scenes where the husband discusses "feeling numb" and having a decreased sexual satisfaction with Connie, were very interesting as this is often a contributing factor as to why many people stop taking their medication. I've also experienced what it's like to be put on different medications, and how quickly doctors just prescribe them without offering any therapeutic services soon enough. Doctors rarely call up and check on patients, unfortunately it often takes patients themselves to come forward or present a serious risk. Overall the series presents a depleting and authentic reflection of how poor mental health services can be in this country.

On the flip side the series presents that even the therapist herself is suffering and dealing with grief, however she is equipped to manage her overall wellbeing. Even with the knowledge and tools that the therapist has, you can see that nothing will ever "treat" the pain. The therapist relates with Connie's experiences very deeply.

The ending scene doesn't bring that 100% satisfying "oh everything is ok now" equilibrium moment, because life is never going to go back to normal. Instead we get the feeling that the characters can move on with their stories. However I do wish they gave us a few more scenes into the future - Did Connie divorce her husband? Did she continue to manage her mental health and get out of the facility? Perhaps the writers kept it open for a possible series 2, or for poetic reasons. Either way it is a little frustrating (-1 star).

Overall a really interesting story and fantastic acting from the lead female actors. I only wish they developed the other characters even more (-1 star).

Slow paced but worth it
26 February 2021
Excellent TV drama and did the story justice. Don't be fooled by the low scored reviews, as it seems a lot of people do not realise that it's not meant to be an investigative documentary. It is a simply a drama based on the events. Well done to the entire production team and actors involved who approached this story with sensitivity and respect.

Overall a really interesting watch, albeit rather slow paced. I recommend adjusting the playback speed while watching if you need to.

One of the worst films ever
29 July 2018
What the heck did I just watch. Such a weird storyline- not only is it unbelievable but it's not even funny. It's just so beyond strange all these men after one crazy girl. And then you randomly had Lee Evans in it??

Weirdest film ever. Avoid.
19 May 2018
It was beautiful in some parts and I'm sure it's poetic in its meaning. There were so many plot holes and the characters weren't relateable or have much depth.

The ending was so so weird not in a way that I liked either. Waste of time. Oh and I believe the director was taking some strange drugs in order to have made this.
