Believe (2007)
I Believe
As indie mocumentaries go (meaning anything not done by Christopher Guest) this is actually pretty decent. I think pretty much the entire planet can relate to this film. Who hasn't been hit up for one of these businesses?
The film has it's flaws but not many. It's obvious these guys did their homework before they made this movie because it's exactly what these MLMers are like! The movie flows and culminates nicely and it has a decent soundtrack. I think what stands out the most about this movie, besides its accuracy, is the acting. Wow! There's not really a bad one in the bunch.
If you've ever been in an MLM or wonder what the people are like then this movie is for you.
I think I finally found a way to get revenge on those people who have hit me up for their MLM pyramid scheme... buy them a copy of the movie and give it to them as a "gift". :)
Way to go!
Suits on the Loose (2005)
Why do they keep releasing this stuff?
I don't know. There's not much to say about this film. It's probably one of the better films Halestorm has released (aside from the excellent "Best Two Years") but, let's be honest, that's not really saying much.
It's a nice premise that goes astray with one dimensional characters and, again, overplayed jokes taking prominence over story. The soundtrack isn't half-bad but that's not why you go and see a movie.
Two questions: 1) What's the deal with the lady in the airplane - she's pointless? 2) How many paint ball battles are we going to have to subjected to in Mormon films?
Like "Mobsters", a good concept led astray by poor execution on the script.
