The Dead Files (2011)
Second most favorite paranormal show
I've been watching The Dead Files since it began. I find Amy to be very believable.
One reviewer gave one example of why he felt Amy was a fake. Amy said a helicopter crash involved it "spinning", yet he researched it & it clipped a mountain & exploded, instead.
Any is seldom 100% accurate. There are, more often than not, some inconsistencies between her information & Steve's research. It is for that reason that I find her credible. If she were spot on every time, I would be suspicious. I doubt any medium is 100% accurate. Her accuracies & inaccuracies both convince me she's the real deal.
Yes, she does have a potty mouth sometimes & yes, she's a little quirky at times. Sometimes she's on the show with makeup & sometimes with no makeup at all. The fact that she's not polished tells me she's not putting on any acts; just being herself. The first season, she was waaay out there. I don't know if the producers urged her to act that way, but it didn't last long.
Secret Space UFOs: Part 1 (2022)
Amateurishly done but interesting
I'm never sure how much is fabricated and how much is legitimate in these types of shows. It was still interesting nonetheless. I always keep an open mind. I referred to it only as "ameteurishly done" because they spelled "a lot" as "alot". There is no such word as "alot", & a well done show would never make that mistake, which makes me wonder how much truth there is. And no, the error wasn't in the closed caption.
I would still recommend it, but certainly not automatically assume everything is the truth.
Red Island (2018)
Slow burn Sci-fi
I think it is more sci-fi, than horror. I'm not sure why some are baffled as to why it's science fiction. The red-eyes monster definitely looks like it's not from this world & obviously has some kind of influence over the man's girlfriend.
If it's blood, gore & a fast-pace you're looking for then it's not for you. It's definitely a slow burn movie. I thought the acting was decent & the director did a good job of creating an ominous ambience of the beautiful forest (filmed in Vancouver, BC, & Washington state).
Paranormal Haunting: The Curse of the Blue Moon Inn (2011)
What was the producer & director thinking? They were't
I think this was filmed with a damaged, vintage cell phone. I wasn't sure if the blurred, odd colors were deliberate or an attempt at spooky ambience.
The acting was elementary school Christmas school play, & some scenes that suddenly came out of nowhere, that lasted for 15 seconds & then jumped to another scene or a sudden bedroom scene with comedic sex talk that popped in out of nowhere & then was gone left me wondering if these people had any experience whatsoever in making a film or had even attempted to learn about what makes a good movie.
The first several minutes were basically nothing but loud, distracting music...so loud, I couldn't understand a word the "actors" were saying. I can understand why closed caption was given.
There was nothing frightening or suspenseful about this movie. Unless you're in the mood for a D movie, I'd pass.
Black Files Declassified (2020)
Americans should NOT have access to everything
The show is well done, in my opinion. My primary issue is they appear to give off vibes indicating the American people have a right to know everything the government is up to. Freedom of information, they say. I find it shocking that so many of those in this series are either so ignorant, stupid, (or willing to make money at any costs), not to understand that if all of America knows everything our government is up to then ALL the world would know too. Do we really want ALL the world to know our government's secrets? Really? Or are people so incredibly naïve to think as Americans, we'll keep it all secret?
Despite what some say, I don't find it politically biased. Some seem to have meltdowns because they think it is & claim it is skewed, which means it's not skewed to their own political beliefs.
Haunted (2017)
Comedy or horror?
The main actor does a decent job, but the character Chris is a joke. I suppose the actor who played this idiot would be a good actor in a bad comedy or even a good actor in this movie if he wasn't portrayed as an irritating moron. I was impressed with the suspense scenes & the main actor, but then they throw in the ridiculous, over the top, terrible comedy. Because of that, I completely lost interest. It ruined the movie for me.
The Haunting of Margam Castle (2020)
Could have been a good movie, if...
...better actors, better producers. I didn't find anything frightening or dramatic in any way. It felt disjointed & completely failed to engage me or make me feel any attachment to any characters. Even with the poor acting, it would've been worth watching if those responsible for making this movie were more experienced or were naturals at writing, editing, & producing movies.
