Matilda: The Musical (II) (2022)
9/10
This is how you make a movie based on a musical
1 January 2023
This is one of the best adaptations of a musical i have seen on the big screen. Beautifully shot, stunning sets and designs, a superb and diverse cast, especially Matilda and Trunchbull. As someone who has seen the a few different stage products of the musical, this production is definitely one of my favorites. It feels like a stage production, but is shot like a movie. It truly looks and feels like a Roald Dahl story. Yes there are things that could be different, but thats the case with a lot of Movies. I hope future adaptations of musicals will remember what was done right with matilda, to be able to perfect the art of afdapting.

What you can expect but still entertaining
25 June 2022
It is a quite stereotypical musical with a predictable storyline and all that, but overall a cute little musical to watch. It is an 80s-style high school-themed musical so do not expect too much of it.

Diana (I) (2021)

Not the best but could be worse
1 October 2021
Textbook Broadway. Reminded me a bit of a school play. Songs are okay, acting mediocre, but lighting, stage, costumes etc. Are great. It has its moments but ends up being more of a parody than a life story. Doesn't do Diana justice.

Heartbreaking depiction of what went down in Waco
5 June 2021
I watched one of the documentaries on the case a few years ago and decided to watch the series. I must say that I had to pause halfway through the last episode. This inside depiction of what went down in Waco, shown from inside the ATF and FBI and the Davidians building, is fantastic. The slow nerve-wracking build-up up until the point of my return and is incredible and heartbreaking at the same time. I can only recommend this for those who have followed the case.

Downton Abbey (2019)

Good story but maybe not for everyone
13 August 2020
In general a beautiful and good movie, but maybe not one for all Downton Abbey fans.

The cinematography has been adapted to the classic motion picture style, and is therefore different from the style used in the series - but it is something you get used to quickly

The movie does not have the same kind of drama as the series had. It is more light and sweet if you may say so. But it is still a good movie. Just not an exact copy of the series, cut down into a two-hour movie.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark (2020–2021)

Might not be what you expect, but worth it!

Warning: Spoilers
As someone who just finished the series and has seen a lot of negative reviews, I have this to say:

As someone who was not aware of Michelle McNamara, I was confused as to why this documentary about The East Area Rapist / Original Night Stalker, was about Patton Oswalt's late wife.

I thought I was about to watch a six-part documentary on what happened between 1976 and 1986 and maybe other facts about EAR/ONS. Even though it was not what I expected, I really enjoyed it!

I found it interesting to be following Michelle throughout her investigation of the case. It gave me a bit more than if it had been a six-part documentary on just another cold case. What I get from this documentary is that Michelle and her friends and colleagues had a huge impact on the case and the late investigation! That is why I like it so much. Not just a timeline of another murder case, but the determination of a single woman to crack this cold case.

People can be mad at this documentary because of "false advertisement" all they want to, but if you wanna watch the story of a determined woman's search for a suspect in a 25-year-old cold case, do it!

I could say so much more about this documentary but I do not want to spoil anymore for people who are about to discover the world of Michelle McNamara and EAR/ONS.

What happened?
25 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay but why did the show change so much? The music, the lazy writing... This show is becoming more and more like Riverdale. And what is up with the Scooby-Doo meets the Wizard of Oz? I don't know if I can finish the season

What happened?

I liked season 1 and 2 and they had so much potential to be different from other teen shows. Now with season 3... It has turned into Riverdale. Weird music numbers, cheer and just lazy writing. It is so sad to see a show like this dig its own grave

A Perfect Adaptation
24 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a long time fan of John Green and his books, this was an amazing announcement - a mini-series based on the book "Looking for Alaska"

As one who has read the book multiple times, I must say that this series is the one adaptation I have seen that stayed true to the original story. This will for a long time - or maybe forever - be my favorite adaptation from book to movie/series. The casting, the details, the location! From the moment Miles arrived at Culver Creek I was crying happy tears. Everything was as I imagined... I must admit that I was a bit nervous about the adaptation when first announced, especially because I could not imagine Alaska and Miles as living people. From the first lines spoken I fell in love with the characters all over again, just like i did when reading the book for the first time.

Everything was perfect. And reliving the death of Alaska was painful and was even more painfully perfect.

This was an emotional rollercoaster, but one that was worth the ride. I can 100% recommend watching it!

Classic wester/60s vibe + Tarantino = amazing
31 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A movie build on the concept of an actor who's career is slowly dying in the business... A simple plot following the actor and his stuntdoubble. For someone who loves western and 50s/60s movies this movie is a blast! And if you are willing to wait for it, the classic Tarantino violence, which we all love, will come, just be patient! Not in the "Django Unchained" end scenes style, but in a much more compressed style, which I personally loved (not just because Tarantino is in my top 5 favorite directors)

An interesting side to the story
23 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the Ted Bundy tape documentary before the movie, and i can see some pros and cons by doing it. I think it is up to the individual to decide, who they want to watch the story unfold. When watching the tapes first, all the holes are filled in, in the movie, but if you watch the movie first, some details might seem confusing

For people who think that Zac is not fitting in the role, I must disagree. When you watch the documentary, Ted Bundy was a charming and handsome man. He was this type of guy, and he charmed his way to most of his victims.

Overall i think both the Ted Bundy tapes and this movie are a great representation and view on the Ted Bundy Crimes.
