Midsomer Murders: Death and Dreams (2003)
Terrible and Implausible
I enjoy mysteries and have been enjoying Midsomer Murders. This episode was awful. None of it makes sense and the resolution was farcical. It was both boring and disappointing.
If this was the storyline they decided to go with, the murderer should've been revealed much earlier so there would be plausible explanations
The actual ending when Joyce shows up, what's she gonna do?
When I see things like this, I question the minds of the writers. So many people signed off on this, I cannot believe that this made it to production. This is enough to turn someone off to the whole series. In short, I and my spouse loathe this episode. I would have given it no stars if that was possible.
San Andreas (2015)
Love a big budget disaster flick
It's a big budget, Hollywood, special effects laden catastrophe. I love it, our hero is just that, a hero rescue pilot. He's sensitive but strong. Marriage problems, check. Wife's new rich beau, check. Daughter who wants her parents together, check. Tragic past, check. And of course, earthquake scientists, check. The special effects were believable, and it was exciting. What more does anyone want from this kind of thing?
Siempre Bruja (2019)
The dubbed version ruins it, just watch in Spanish with subtitles
I needed to watch something while I was down with a bad cold. I love a show with a black girl lead anyway, so I checked it out. It's a supernatural teen drama, but with an interesting connection to the past, as our heroine, Carmen, is a witch from 1649. She's a slave and in love with the son of the master. I cannot roll my eyes hard enough at this nonsense. I stuck with it and it's a fun show, it reminds me of BuffyTVS what with all the magic and friendship. I hope the second season has better writing around her slave past because right now, it's infuriating. The thing that kept me going was taking the advice to turn off the overdubbing and watch in Spanish with subtitles; OMG it's so much better. And Carmen has amazing hair,js.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Not good as an adaptation or as a stand alone film
It wasn't the worst movie in the world and I didn't want to return the DVD or sell it on ebay right after I'd seen it but it wasn't good. I blame the director, he hasn't got the chops for this. Much too much of this film was left out, even if you haven't read the books. There was NO character development and what was filmed turned out to be a jumble of a plot. It was not at all coherent. Nothing made sense and I don't feel that it moved the story along well. I'm just glad it's over and I hope the next director at least is aware of this story. I wonder if it wasn't a bad idea to change directors for every film, too many divergent visions. Not good at all.
