The Bear: Fishes (2023)
Talent-Stacked Cast
This is easily one of the best episodes on TV. The cast's performance was stellar, and it made me feel like I was watching a family with the company of a family of actors I really enjoy.
Not to diminish anyone's performance, but Jamie Lee Curtis deserves an award.
I don't think I have seen a generational trauma captured in such a sophisticated and nuanced manner. While the episode is very heavy, it provides insight into C's family dynamic and how it's nearly impossible for he and Natalie to relax and trust people.
The dysfunction was palpable and, as usual, Jon Bernthal provided great insight into the shame that accompanies addiction.
The Bear sketch presentation broke my heart to pieces.
Boxing Day (2021)
Lovely holiday fun
This was a fun movie. The soundtrack was good. Some of my favorite actors all in one!
The reviews are weird and seem unfair here. D-list actors. Like, what!?
American Tragedy (2019)
Aggressively Biased and Myopic
This documentary is shockingly unrealistic and shallow. The U.S. school shooting murderers are overwhelmingly young, white males.
Mindfulness as a preventative resolution for the children but not the educators offered in small segments of the nation does not address one of the most glaring issues - gun control. I am sorry. I believe strongly in mental health care and awareness, however, this is not a comprehensive response to a complex issue that involves weapons brandished illegally by children as a the life divider. I wish others had been interviewed as well.
This is healing propaganda.
