Warrior Nun: Revelation 2:10 (2020)
Did they run out of budget?
One of the worst cliffhangers iv ever witnessed. It felt like they ran out of money to continue filming, or perhaps coronavirus prevented anymore filming. Whatever the reason - that felt to me as a terrible cliffhanger, ending the series mid scene.
I hope it did come down to a production issue, and not the intended ending of season 1. It's odd to see such a high rating for the episode.
If you're looking at this rating wondering on whether to watch the show - do watch it, its a good show and hopefully by the time you read this season 2 will have released, however just be prepared to be left hanging at the end of this episode.
Warrior Nun (2020)
Its an okay show if you don't take it seriously
Its an okay show with low quality writing, something that seems common among The majority Netflix releases these days, seems to be aimed at the same demographic of Adventures of Sabrina, Riverdale etc.
I mean, why is there a scene of a nun doing target practice on a wooden sign with another nun behind it practicing with a stick? I bet they have a lot of friendly fire incidents
Legends of Tomorrow: Mr. Parker's Cul-De-Sac (2020)
funniest episode yet
Honestly - this episode had little action and yet was one of the best this season (yet) hopefully it keeps going in this direction.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Destroying entire character arcs
The production value is obvious, the episode looks amazing and sounds amazing but sadly this is completed negated by the sheer destruction of the writing. It's like they're seeing how quckily they can end the story line and destroy as many character arcs as possible. Jamie becoming good over 8 seasons? nah mate, Jon Snow being azor ahai and nemesis of the Night King? nah mate, The White Walkers being the big bad, and the throne merely being a distraction? Nah mate.
The list goes on, they have ruined the plot in favor of plot twists and shock factor. It feels as if they've changed the desired ending because fans might of "predicted it" and instead replaced it with an unsatisfying ending so that its surprising to please the more casual audience. This isn't the game of thrones we love, they're trying to create plot twists like the red wedding, purple wedding, ned starks death etc while completely going against character backgrounds with no ground to stand on.
It's a shame they've chosen to go for hollywood esque scenes of Dragon strafe runs etc instead of providing a fullfilling, satisfying ending to the 7 season long story arcs we fell in love with.
The Orville: Identity, Part II (2019)
This is the season 2 we've been looking for and more
With plenty of filler episodes at the beginning of season 2 it was obvious people were starting to suspect it wasn't going to live up to the standard season 1 set. But this two parter surely smashed that standard, this was amazing and the first big world building developed the orville has had, I was worried the second part would ruin the momentum part 1 had set in motion but damn did they finish it well. The plot was well paced and had a good finish to it with a justified ending in my opinion with multiple doors opening to different plots and a lot of new unanswered questions that'll hopefully be picked up on later in the season.
Its obvious now why some of the early episodes were so slow, most likely to save budget for the vast amount of CGI in episodes like these, and I definitely think its an amazing trade off (although I wish they'd spread the Moclan storylines out more..)
The Orville: Home (2019)
This is the orville we've come to expect
The first two episodes were quite the bore, and this episode is a definite breath of fresh air with its story telling. We got to see some crucial world building that this series needs with a episode not based around the now infamous maklins. Hopefully the series contains on this high and doesn't fall back to episode 1 and 2s bland story telling.
The Orville: Primal Urges (2019)
Oh boy
The first episode felt too safe and failed to create any real sci fi plot seen in season 1, wheres the episodes like finding a portal to the 2D dimension, or finding a civilization living on an abandoned space ship? I love having the occasional episode surronding ship life, but both episodes have played this safe route and it worries me that Orville season 2 is going to continue to be these low risk ship drama episodes instead of the exciting storylines we've come to expect.
The Orville: Ja'loja (2018)
Very safe episode
Very safe episode, not something to expect from a first episode of the season.. didn't really hype up any sort of plot points or show any sort of jump from season 1? The sci fi elements of season 1 were incredible and hopefully we'll see more of those self contained episodes in this season, but this episode just wasn't it. It felt like a filler episode meant for the middle of the season and that would of been fine, I wouldn't be surprised if Fox moved this episode to episode 1 like what they did with firefly...
Legends of Tomorrow: Legends of To-Meow-Meow (2018)
What even
Were the writers on meth while writing this? I don't care this episode was amazing and i hope legends of tomorrow continues to take this direction.
Best line "sounds like the annual crossover, yeah thats going to have to be a hard pass"
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
Its good but there are some annoying touches
The show is great, and honestly kept me invested throughout, I found the development of the plot went at a good pace, the characters were all interesting and none of them seemed annoying. But the season felt small and honestly felt rushed like they had been forced to push the episodes down. There were some self contained stories that I felt did really well, but because of the small amount of episodes I feel like those episodes could of been better used to spread the story out further.
Also my big problem is with the high priest, and minor spoiler, but why is the high priest the head master, the lawyer, and the what I thought was the equivilant of the pope for their coven? It feels like they didnt want to write in more characters so just gave him every leadership role imaginable, there should of been seperate characters for the headmaster, a seperate character for the lawyer and kept him as a mysterious High Priest, perhaps the high priest could of acted in Satans place at the Court instead of being the lawyer himself.
PS Please godforbid let there not be a riverdale crossover
Doctor Who: The Woman Who Fell to Earth (2018)
Seems a bit forced
Her acting seemed a bit forced and didn't seem like her own character, a lot of the lines were just forced comedy "what's this? A tongue clever boy biology" well done you smashed comedic writing there. Definitely seems like doctor who has decreased in quality, doesn't help that I keep thinking I'm watching The Chase..
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
plot twist after plot twists
The primary writer obviously loves their plot twists, thinking that this is infact what makes a good movie, but no it makes it hard to follow and frankly makes a terrible plot worse. Not only have they destroyed the lore of star wars, with Rey the mary sue suddenly being a more capable jedi with no training than Anakin in episode 3 or Luke in episode 6, but they've also destroyed lore surrounding the rebels, with little to no rebels left in the galaxy, everything that happened in episode 6 is diminished. Then there is the idea that a ship that enters split stream can destroy several star destroyers and the main flag ship. Not to mention the horrible ship captain that flew that ship, who instead of just telling her plan to poe she proceeded to hide it, with obvious attempts of forced feminism with the idea that "men aren't always right" vibe, when really she should of just told him the plan (Which it self was flawed). Then theres the fact that they completely ruined luke as a character, and even the actor himself has expressed how he doesn't like the direction they took and is extremely disappointed.
Star Trek: Discovery: The War Without, the War Within (2018)
A great run up to the final
One thing this episode does strongly is demonstrate a team, working together to achieve a common goal. But with the edition of a certain character from another Universe attempting to gain as much power as they can from their situation. I look forward to seeing how this all finishes in the final episode, and how the effects will move on into season 2.
Hopefully once this Klingon war ends we will be shown a more star trek formula in the next season enticing those fans who hate the linear story line, of course I have to say personally out of all the Star trek series' this one definitely had the best first season, and unless the ending falls to a horrible cliffhanger, which I'm worried it might, the season will continue to remain in that slot for me.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
A great start to a star trek series, with some minor criticisms (read for reason of 10 stars)
May I first say the tv show itself got off to a relatively slow start, the two part beginning was an amazing entry but after that the show was slow and honestly didn't feel like star trek with consistent episodes based around the war with the Klingon, however the show hit a new high with its mid season final and even before then had some quality interesting episodes such as "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad". The later mid season with introduction to another plot which I won't reveal made the show vastly more interesting however, even though the plot itself is something that has been visited by nearly every other star trek series. Never the less Star trek discovery managed to keep it interesting, and although some episodes were obviously filler it was a awesome story line and I can't wait to see the conclusion within the last two episodes.
However the show does suffer some bad points, for starts some of it just doesn't feel like star trek, but rather a drama show on a space ship, being introduced to new aliens and technologies throughout the series is what made the show so fun, new threats and new mysteries, which the show does partially with its mid season plotline and other one off episodes, but in other places fails poorly with the same old Klingon war story line. But overall the show is amazing and no star trek show has ever started out perfectly, the first few seasons of Voyager, or Star trek next generation are perfect examples of this.
Why the 10 stars with such a mixed review? its evident in the review section that this show has been completely bombed by angry fans, everyone's entitled to opinions, but 1/10 reviews? When I think "this show is bad" I'd normally give it a review of around 4, 5 maybe, but 1? its evident that this is just to get the score down after angry fans just hate how the old star trek formula isn't in use for a lot of this show, now if you look at the dates of these reviews, what do you see? reviews that have been placed before barely any episodes have even come out, meaning they cant even begin to review a series they have barely seen, I wouldn't be surprised if these reviews were coordinated via a Star Trek fan forum somewhere asking users to review bomb the show. For this fact I have upped what I would say is around a 8.5/10 show to a 10/10 to try and help counter this flow of troll reviews.
