The trouble with the BBC being PC...
16 January 2020
...is that they don't put their money where their mouth is and have a lead character played by a racial minority person. Inserting people of color in some of their recent productions is just too obviously done because they have to stick a minority in there somewhere or they will feel the trendy white guilt. It is an insult to anyone with a logical and realistic brain cell in their head why they do this. And although I am sure the minority actors are very happy to have the roles and the money and the exposure, you would think they would feel somewhat put out because they are being used to be tokens of political correctness not because of their talents.

A HOLIDAY CAROL
29 December 2019
I'm surprised the producers of this show allowed the word "Christmas" to be used in the title. Wasn't that a little anti-PC? Can't wait for their adaption of Gone With the Wind, with Rhett Butler's character as a metrosexual fop and Scarlet O'Hara a slave. Oh, well, at least it gave them a chance to show a woman's bare bottom, which, by the way, seems to be one of the very things the Me Too movement would find appalling, wouldn't they? I can just picture a bunch of white male producers, directors and cameramen leering and drooling over a black woman's rear end, enticing the actress with the role and a paycheck.

TWO STARS FOR COMEDIC VALUE
2 December 2019
To be honest I have only watched several partial episodes of this schlock because my friend called my attention to it ridiculousness. The unfocused eyes and holding a cup with two hands to drink is the extent of the actor's portrayal of someone who in real life would never be a doctor, much less a surgeon. Now I see in previews they have introduced sex into the storyline. I saw a little of that, and it seemed almost like the woman was a sex worker or abuser, I couldn't tell which. Honestly, who would be attracted to this doctor character? Come on! Like other reviewers, I am astounded at all the five star ratings. It is a horrible show.

I TRIED TO LIKE, BUT TOO SLOW.
20 November 2019
I diligently watched the first six episodes. I liked the cast, the storyline, the look of it. But it just got so slow moving and boring by the sixth episode that I just couldn't make myself keep watching it. I had high hopes of finding a show I could get interested in, but unfortunately this one isn't it.

GETTING THREADWORN
17 October 2019
I have watched every episode of Grey's. I don't believe I have ever reviewed it. It has been an excellent series, as can be noted by its longevity. However, this year, I suddenly was bored by the same old characters and everybody having problems. Of course, there is the obligatory surprise pregnancy - again. Also, "Meredith Grey," (Ellen Pompeo) is 50 years old and it is getting kind of absurd to have her acting like a 20-something, which is what she does. If the writers would work on that one thing - making Meredith a mature adult - it would help me keep my interest in this series. I have nothing against the May-December romance she has going with the young doctor, it's just her mannerisms and sometimes clothing that are over the top. I don't know if I am going to last the entire season unless something gets shaken up and freshened up in some way.

Enjoyable hosts
12 September 2019
The people in the two episodes I watched are nice, everyday people, not sniping spouses trying to get what THEY want, so I like that part. I am a little puzzled why with such huge budgets ($600,000) or so, they don't just look for other existing homes, rather than renovating properties. I have no idea what Minneapolis real estate goes for, but in looking at the neighborhoods they are in, it would seem that amount of money could surely purchase a nice home without all the work of renovation.

Tomlin character ruined it for me.

Loved the first three seasons, but after that Lily Tomlin's "Frankie" became such a bizarre and annoying person I did not enjoy it anymore. Way too over the top to the point of mental illness.

Probably good if you like this genre
1 April 2019
I have to admit right off that I only watched a few episodes before I quit this series. Seemed rather disjointed and initially complicated by too many characters who basically look alike. But what really turned me off was the wife character/actress. Couldn't stand her and she seemed too lightweight to be in such a dramatic series. This sounds shallow, but her hair was way too long for a political-type wife and working mom, and she didn't seem intelligent enough to be a lawyer or someone who is a partner of a rather high-ranking politician.

It was probably a 7...until the end.

A friend wanted me to watch this show, so I did. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. But I feel used and exploited as an audience member, because the person who won - whoever T-Pain is - is not now, nor ever was a "singing star." The whole show turned out to be a cruel joke on the people spending time watching it.

EXCELLENT, AND WISHED IT WOULDN'T END
5 February 2019
It took me two attempts to watch this. When I finally finished watching the first episode all the way through, I was intrigued enough to go for the second. After that, I couldn't wait to see everything. Wonderful the way the story developed, the characters came to life, and the settings. I highly recommend this, and as another reviewer wrote, I believe both men and women will enjoy this, so you and your spouse can share the enjoyment together.

After 8 episodes angst gets old
8 December 2018
This is a story about a group of excruciatingly thin women and overly-emotional metrosexual men, who don't seem to have any worries over money, creating problems for themselves to add drama to their lives for no good reason. Spends a lot of time on one particular woman with cancer who they became emotionally invested in the moment they met her, which shows how needy they are to have something useful in their lives, I guess. Cute blond woman doesn't want their attention, but still gets it by refusing to do what they want her to do, so she has a group of almost strangers begging her to get cancer treatment while she teases them with her illness. That is really sick. I gave it a chance. Taking it off my DVR record list because of extreme sappiness and dark, depressing story line that never goes away.

TURNING INTO LEFT WING DRIVEL
28 October 2018
I enjoyed all the episodes until "Cavitation," when it turned into a "Police Are Bad" story. Tuned it off as soon as kneeling for the National Anthem was promoted. Too bad, thought it would not be so melodramatic. Removed from my DVR line up.

After 1st season, barely holding on
22 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Kind of binge-watched season 1, and I am hoping some things change going into season 2. On one hand, I enjoyed following the ongoing stories of the triplets and their parents, on the other, the characters that are likeable have diminished to about 3. The only characters that are not self-centered jerks are triplet Randall, his wife and triplet Kevin. Kate, the 3rd triplet is a completely self-centered drama queen who makes everything about herself, including a funeral she attends, making a small scene and ending up having the actual grieving person comforting HER. She is condescending, nasty and sarcastic to pretty much everyone she comes across and elicits no sympathy from me. And we never really see her eating the enormous amount of food it takes to keep up her weight, which has to be minimum 300 lbs. Her boyfriend is also on the condescending side to people. Jack, the triplets' father is supposed to come across as this blindly in love man who is forever romancing his petulant and never-satisfied wife, while in actuality is a drunken hot head who jumps to conclusions and does really stupid things. Plus, the actor is too short for the role, with his wife being taller than him. The triplets' mother is never happy and can't accept that being a band singer isn't realistic when you have three children. I'm hoping the next season improves on those few characters, because the rest of the cast and storyline are pretty good.

Containment (2016)

Boring and predictable
1 August 2018
Watched Ep. 1; stereotypical characters: long-haired, sexy women, men who want them; follows the formula of having several characters who won't do what is asked of them, but somehow get away with it; PC situations like a woman in charge and a multi-ethnic relationship with an unwed pregnant woman with a "mean" mother and nice boyfriend who knocked her up. All boring at this point for me. Also, one character in particular is annoying, the young neglectful mother who spends time on the phone while not keeping track of her own child, much less 12-14 others she is in charge of on a school field trip, while making goo-goo eyes at a hot looking cop.

I always watch
22 April 2018
I have been watching every episode for two years now, and I generally like the show. Obviously, it is not realistic as far as the inter-relationships of the firefighters; I seriously doubt there is that much drama at a firehouse. The one thing that bothers me is that whenever there are an other authority figures, such as the FBI, or a higher ranking chief or administrator, they all turn hostile towards them. Any outsider or new firefighter or EMT are treated like crap and ostracized, to the point of physical violence. I really hate it when they do that. I mean, smart-mouthing the FBI? Really? I know it is the writers that choose to have that aspect, so I guess it is just part of their agenda, whatever that may be.

One of the Worst
22 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched Season 1, Episode 1, "Little Girl Lost." I have watched quite a few true crime shows for years. This was one of the worst in my memory of all of them. Seemed to be just a vehicle for the "investigators" to be on a TV show. After TWO HOURS, there was no conclusion reached, and all they had was circumstantial evidence against someone they actually named on national TV. I would think that person would have a legitimate lawsuit against them for slander. Amazing. The end scene, which others have mentioned about the crying investigator, was terrible, with them obviously trying to get the mother to cry or become emotional while they told her the most brutal details of her young daughter's death. Since they couldn't get her to cry, one of them did. Just awful. Please do not watch this show and give them reason to continue with it. It is an embarrassment to the other genuine investigative shows and the Investigation Discovery Channel.

Enjoyable, but also fake
3 March 2018
I enjoyed the movie as something for light entertainment. I would call it "gentle drama." It was a visually appealing film, and I did enjoy that more than the actual script. One thing that is a pet peeve of mine and very, very common in the UK setting movies and television mini-series, is everything is perfect: the clothes, the hair, the immaculate homes, the neatness. Never a hair out of place, or a home-made hairdo or makeup. Supposed to believe that this young woman is not rich, yet her hair, makeup and clothing are perfect. That annoys me so much in UK films. American films are much more able to portray the messiness and imperfection of real life when it comes to clothes, hair and surroundings.
