Reviews
Collateral (2018)
Made by a movie-producer wannabe
That is surely the only explanation for the 2.39 to 1 aspect ratio. I couldn't watch it. Having almost a third of of my 16:9 screen occupied by black bars did something to my eyes. If I wanted the experience of peering though a letter box, I'd got out and look for one.
Rated 1 out of 10 only because I couldn't find a way to rate 0.
Oh, my review is too short? OK, I'll add details about how long I watched it for. Basically I waited until the end of the credits, because I have previously encountered a production that inexplicably adopted a more sensible aspect ratio (though not 16:9) at that point. Disappointed to discover that wasn't the case, and unable to endure it further, I turned it off.
Lucifer: Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam (2021)
Not what I signed up for
If I wanted to watch a musical, I'd search for a musical to watch. Not that that's likely - I hate musicals.
Normally when a show steps outside its usual format, I suspect money is the motive, especially when the episode is clearly self-indulgent. But I cannot imagine that this episode was cheap. So what was the point?
There may have been some tenuous link into the episode's cliff-hanger, but that was about it.
Perpetual Grace, LTD (2019)
Gratuitous use of the F word
OK, I get it, given the intended medium, you can get away with using the F word.
But, for Pete's sake, it doesn't need to be in every other sentence. Yes, people use this word, but not all the time. Beyond a certain point it becomes intrusive, just as it would be if any other irrelevant word were frequently included in the dialog.
Looper (2012)
Not internally consistent
This movie doesn't obey it's own rules, but seems to make them up and change them as it goes along to suit whatever plot element is being shown. Don't expect any logic to the time travel because there isn't any. Don't think about the movie after watching it, because if you do you'll simply notice more and more glaring holes in it.
