Fleabag (2016)
Helps me through tough times! Thank You!
Looking at some of the negative reviews there's a constant "Not funny." Message in every one. It isn't just a comedy. This is a love story, a comedy, a drama and a representation of someone who has gone through so much in her life and still is coping with it. Stop looking for laughs in it and appreciate that "I'm ok." Feeling that we all have sometimes, appreciate the journey she's taking from being absolutely traumatised, and to a degree dependant on everyone else, to finally finding a place in her life where she's finally that little bit more ok.
Personally I can relate to her character, I've lost people I love, who hasn't? I've fallen in and out of love, who hasn't? Watching her journey makes me finally feel at a point of just being ok, no more drama, no more sadness. She isn't trying to be funny, she's trying to tell a story of this really unhappy person and the people around her. It's not a comedy, it's a poem about coming to a point where you can love yourself and respect yourself.
That said there are some genuinely funny moments that are so very British, which is why I believe some find this hard to like as they don't quite get it in the same way. Yes it's very sexual, but that's the point, she doesn't need to be, she herself does it for the control. She isn't being sexual she's being sad.
If you remember one this from what I have said, please remember... This is a love story.
Florence + the Machine: The Odyssey (2016)
Absolutely amazing.
An amazing format for the metaphorical ideas and links in their songs. The story was broken into bits, but somehow still made total sense.
Best thing I've ever seen.
