Bloodline (2015)
Don't waste your time.
This series is not nearly as deep or important as it tries to be. It could have been better as a mini-series, maybe 7 or so episodes, instead of dragging it all out to such a week ending. So many scenes and conversations should have been edited out. It felt as if the writers were making it up as they went along. It wasn't so much of a story as it was an unraveling of various incidents with no point.
I kept watching, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. I hoped for a revelation of an ending, but there was none.
Great acting and good directing were not enough to carry this series. It needed a concise story with an ending.
Resident Alien (2021)
Great Potential When Focused On Harry and His Humor
Alan Tudyk is extremely talented and the only reason this show is worth watching. His acting overshadows and entertains far better than any of the characters and their subplots. On the one hand, it is a great comedy when focused on Tudyk's character. On the other, a lame, melodramatic series when focused on side characters and their issues. Somewhere in the middle is a science fiction show that isn't sure if it wants to be a comedy or serious melodrama. If you can sit through the small town characters, Resident Alien is worth watching. Harry is hilarious. The sheriff also has some great humorous moments.
The Terminal List (2022)
Lesser version of the Punisher
The details involving the Navy Seals is interesting and the series is good, but not great. Fairly predictable, the storyline borrows from a number of other popular thrillers, especially Netflix's The Punisher, but not quite the quality.
Impulse (2018)
What they said...
I agree with most of the reviews that I've read. Too much focus on teen melodrama and not enough on the sci-fi parts. Main character is difficult to like. I agree with many in that Townes is about the only real likable character.
Just another personal note: I hated the songs on this show. It wouldn't be so bad if they were played in the background or just for a few seconds, but the songs go on while they show a character doing next to nothing.
Having said all this, I did enjoy the show enough to keep watching, mainly because I kept hoping the main character would start making some good choices and become more likable.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Better version but still not a great movie.
I liked this much better than the 2017 release but two things that bothered me with the other version still bothered me with this one. So many similarities in the storyline to the Avengers movies. Even more annoying is that about 90% of the scenes are shown in slow motion and I'm not just referring to the Flash's scenes.
Every time a scene slips into slow motion it jolts me out of the film fantasy. Makes me want to roll my eyes. And what was the point of the film screen ratio and the muted colors? I don't think either of those two choices helped any.
