It's All About Love (2003)
Positively Awful
This is easily one of the 5 worst movies I've ever seen - EVER. This is such a godawful movie that finding where to begin to complain seems almost insurmountable. There is nothing right with this movie, there is nothing good about it (other than fantastic cinematography). Alright, onto the lame movie...
Why is the biggest celebrity in the world an ice skater? Yeah, like THAT would ever happen! Claire Danes' character, the biggest celebrity ice skater of all time, is so important that she needs 3 clones of herself made because the world simply can't get enough of her. Speaking of Claire Danes, I lost any respect for her after seeing this movie. She just lapped up the ridiculous amounts of attention, acting like she thought she was the most elegant creature who ever lived. Her accent was also ridiculous. A nauseating performance.
Sean Penn acted like an imbecile in this movie. Again, my respect for him diminished after watching this. He made no sense whatsoever, and he contributed absolutely nothing. His role was completely idiotic.
Then there were floating Ugandan people hovering around. Sound ludicrous? You bet, there was absolutely no explanation for this whatsoever. Also, dead people inexplicably lined the streets, getting no reaction from anyone, they were simply stepped over. Everyone was too preoccupied with Claire Danes' majestic beauty to care.
Joaquin Phoenix was tolerable. But the absolute pointlessness of this movie rendered his performance worthless.
All the other peripheral characters in this movie are also pathetic twerps. Ridiculously pretentious, pointless fools wander in and out of the movie, demonstrating what a enormous waste of time, money and a giant cast this movie actually is.
But the above comments are merely waves in this sea of retarded movie-making. "It's All About Love" is incredibly pretentious, agonizingly pointless, embarrassing, annoying, and ultimately depressing as it goes from bad to worse and leaves the viewer just feeling stupid.
Plot? Forget about it! Other viewers have said how complex the story is. Sorry, but they're wrong. It's not. Whether or not this movie is an elaborate tale of love's importance is irrelevant. It is a jumbled disaster masquerading as "arty" and "futuristic." The movie is so full of holes that it hardly qualifies as a story at all.
I honestly have to wonder what anyone saw in this movie. No less than 10 production companies were listed in the credits. Obviously no one gave enough of a damn (or even understood enough) to want to actually make this movie themselves. Obviously it was solely through namedropping cast members that anyone signed on at all. And for what? An abysmal waste of energy. It's NO WONDER this movie was never released.
