Kimi (2022)

5* is generous

Warning: Spoilers
The story starts out intriguing, we definitely get to understand who Angela (the main character) is, her background, her job, her struggles since the pandemic and her ongoing fight with agoraphobia. She discovers disturbing audios during her work as essentially someone who listens to an Alexa device - which, spoiler alert, leads absolute NOWHERE!?

My issue starts about half way through the movie, too many open ended scenes with no conclusions, LITERALLY NONE, too many unanswered parts in the plot, WHO IS THE WOMAN, WHY WAS SHE KILLED, WHO IS THE MAN BEING BLACKMAILED FOR MONEY? All for an incredibly quick and underwhelming end to the film where she becomes stuck in her apartment with 3 men who literally come out of nowhere, to, again, a very underwhelming "fight scene" in which she is able to take down 3 men with a nail gun, and then all of a sudden we go to a shot of her empty house whilst the closing scene shows her happily outside the house with her boyfriend.

Good acting secures this a 5* at best.

It's....ok

I was really looking forward to this, and whilst it's an okay thriller, it's got alot to live up to and fails to hit the mark.

The storyline is clever, acting is good, however it feels after watching it that the actual premise of the story is quite weak, and was infact carried by the actors of the first one, in particular Miss Sandra Bullock.

I will admit that it was good to see another scenario outcome of the outbreak, and the city of Barcelona was a good decision, the last 5 minutes of the film kinda made me want another sequal, but all in all an extremely mediocre film that's ridden on the coat tails of its predecessor.

Mediocre and boring, watch in the background if not atall...

Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds are both good actors who have been recently hit with the curse of becoming "overused actors". Both have hit high notes in numerous films, and both have hit low notes in what appear to be quickly put together, run of the mill films. Avoided this film for about a year or so, expecting it to be watchable but not something I was dieing to watch. This evening I gave it a go but actually turned it off with half an hour to go after failing to pay attention any longer. All the will in the world to be a great action flick, yet it has a boring story, boring action scenes and unfortunately for the both of them.. very boring lead actors. Personaly, give this movie a miss and without FOMO.

3* not because the acting is bad, but because it's overly predictable and been done thousands of times

If you're bored and want a predictable movie to watch, give 90minutes of your time for this film. Decent acting, decent gore scenes... Just incredibly predictable, and seen it done better in the past...

This film was absolutely great, thriller, suspence, confusion... If you love a film with twists and turns that keeps you on the edge of the seat, this film is for you!

Meh

Don't believe the 7,8,9* reviews. This is a predictable, below average children's film, great if that's what your looking for but I was definately let down after seeing all the high scores.

Absolutely terrible acting, effects and storyline. Literally one of the most pointless films I've ever seen in my life!

Plot holes, plot holes, plot holes. Boring film that build ups to a minor level and then stays on that same level for the duration. Honestly if you're looking for a thriller, horror, mystery, suspence, look elsewhere!

Boring, unoriginal, lack of story

Warning: Spoilers
The first 3/4 of the film were a very cliche, slow build up to the "finale" which was very anti-climactic with all four characters being killed in the last 5minutes with little if any force (I'm talking one punch and down kinda thing...) I like the story behind it, and this had all the potential of being a great thriller/slasher, however sadly left me feeling like I wish I'd chosen another film to watch.
