Kingdom (2019)
One of my all time favorite shows
It really is an amazing show. Great characters, great story and cinematography. The pacing is good which keeps you focused on the show at all times and there is a lot of action sequences that really keep you on your toes. The acting is phenomenal. You can tell the creators really thought long and hard about what story they wanted to tell with this show before making it, which you can't say with alot of zombie movies or shows these days. Or any genre for that matter.
It's incredibly well made in all aspects and really tells two stories at the same time. So even if you aren't into zombies you could still enjoy the show for the other story it tells simultaneously.
It combines drama, action, horror and humor in a seamless way that makes for a great watch through the whole show. I hope for another season soon!
Layers of Fear (2016)
Really misses the mark
I bought this hoping it would be anything like Visage or Infliction but oh how disappointed I was. The scares are only visual and don't inflict any true horror to the player. The puzzles are way to easy, story is cliché and weak, and the game is just filled with filler rooms that fill no function. The audio is good and provides tension, and there are a few jumpscares that get you good but eventually even those feel stale. Those who say this is the scariest game ever cannot have played any horror games, or at least very few. I've played plenty and this is like a kid version of the horror games i was hoping it would be like. Wasted money IMO.
The Dark and the Wicked (2020)
Left me feeling a bit creeped out
I was sort of skeptical about this going in but ended up quite liking it. Maybe I'm biased because this is my type of horror. It has the slow paced, suspenseful and eerie horror. Not the horror with an over explained storyline and full of jump scares. If that is the kind of horror you like then this one might come off as boring or slow. But if you don't care that much about having every single detail in the movie explained to you and just want to feel creeped out for an hour and a half (and maybe even a while after, if you're about to go to bed after watching it) then you'll probably like this.
Freaks (2018)
Why have I never heard of this movie before??
Honestly I didn't expect much from this movie, but i was pleasantly surprised. One of the better movies I've seen this year. As someone previously said, the idea isn't super original but the storytelling was phenomenal. I had no idea what it was about going into it so the movie really surprised me and left me wanting a sequel, which is rare. It starts off a bit slow (not a complaint, it worked well for the movie to keep you guessing) and then just keeps feeding you a cool, well acted out plot. Do yourself a favor and watch it!
The Walking Dead (2010)
TWD is that childhood friend you don't want to give up on but who keeps letting you down
So after 8 seasons of wandering around, finding a place to stay, run in to bad guys, have to escape and then be back on the road again talking about feelings and having one personal breakdown after another I am kind of over it.
This is that series that I have watched from the start, each season hoping that "maybe this time something will actually happen that brings the story forward!". But no. I keep getting dissapointed each time seeing the characters who I, instead of actually connecting to and caring about after this many seasons just seem to hate more and more for every year, walk around doing stupid, non-relatable things. Not even a single death has meant anything to me. You are just kind of happy that someone died so at least something interesting happened.
I really did love this show in the beginning. It had so much potential. But recently it's just straight up boring.
I did have some hope in the beginning of the whole Eugene story. I felt like they were finally doing something to the progression of the show. It would have been a perfect way for them to start the whole "cure-ordeal" and build the show around this. But! Instead they had to wander around for another 5 (or something) seasons, talking about their feelings and then fight Negan for what has felt like a decade. It's getting kind of old by now.
Like I said, I really did love this show and the uniqueness of it and it will, for some reason I don't even understand, always have a special place in my heart. So for that reason I am going to give the creators some tips on how to gracefully and honorably end this series;
1. Have the people find out that babies born after the breakout aren't infected (since they weren't there for the airborn spreading of the virus) and that they are therefore born with some sort of resistance.
2. Have the gang realize that they can pherhaps create a cure.
3. Have them go on a mission to find someone who can help them create a cure or antidote and show us 15 years in the future where things are finally better.
4. Don't have this take 10 seasons. 2 tops is completely fine.
5. The end.
