1883 (2021)
Wow! What a great display of art!
This is a story about adventure, self-discovery, nature, love, family, freedom. About the cruelty man is capable of but also heroism and self-sacrifice. But I think most of all about acceptance - acceptance of life, life's experiences without judgement or shame. Just raw!
I loved how the father - daughter relation was depicted and developed throughout the episodes.
I loved the poetry of looking at all the experiences with hearts wide open. Life, love, death - let it all in and face it with bravery.
I can't wait to watch the sequels - 1923 and Yellowstone. I started them in the chronological order as I wanted to watch the characters grow.
The Night Of (2016)
Wow! What a story!
This is a great example of how stories should be told!
It shows how murder (or any crime for that matter) affects all involved and how many collateral victims come with it.
Also slowly and gradually shows the loneliness of some characters, which becomes more obvious and loud.
It was a great display of the impact of having some people believe in you or believe in the right thing and pay the price for it, or have little to no recognition for it.
It shows how lives can get turned around by silly or unwise decisions and how survival in hostile environments can change lives.
It is the best crime series I have seen so far!
Also the most realistic.
12 Strong (2018)
Impressive courage and strategy
It is impressive the courage and bravery of the 12!
It was good script, good image and good depiction of events.
Felt engaged through out of the whole film.
Stillwater (2021)
One of the best dramas I have seen in the past years
Enjoyed the lack of unnecessary dialogue, the simple and realistic behavior of the father (Matt Damon), the unapologetic great role of the acress (Camille Cotin). The pace was just right. The ending good. Great acting, good script.
The Fall (2013)
Not so impressed with the series
I have to say I was rather disappointed when watching the movie series, as seeing the user reviews and the rating my expectations were really high.
Instead I have found an average screen play: the pace was too slow and sometimes took too long until it built tension, while other times it built tension and nothing happened. Also, developing some of the characters took too much from the focus of the plot and did not improve or benefit the overall story.
I also thought the way the main character behaved was not realistic, was too caring and mothery.
I did like Gillian Andersons's acting and some parts of the series. I also liked that it was a short series and I finished it quickly.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
Not a good movie!
I had expected a really thrilling experience, given Joaquin acting skills. But this movie just killed all the joy with the prolonged scenes and the really painful unfolding of the plot.
I could not feel any of the character's pain or suffering or struggles. It was just me preparing to really get captured by the scene and then... nothing. Couldn't wait to see the cast and the end of this.
A Tale of Love and Darkness (2015)
Brilliantly directed!
Artistic melange of real and imaginary, of past and present, of innocent and imoral. Loved it!
Arctic (2018)
Excellent acting
Disappointed Mads did not get to win or be nominated for this role.
