A TEARJERKING, GUT WRENCHING JOLT OF WINNING INDIANISM.
2 January 2024
How does one review a film of this magnitude? I am totally pliant, moved, wiping my tears that would not stop towards the end. This film peaks again and again and again. The editing, the flow, the unfolding of the plot, the telling of the story, the relatability of the story despite me being among the more privileged of folk, the compelling build up, the characters, the background score, the themes, the motivation, the inspiration, the guidance, the river, the fall, everything about this film is so illuminating, you can't help but feel completely revived. At 150 minutes, this film is enough to completely changed your mood, cause a major upswing and absolute belter its point home. I loved it.

I am destroyed.
30 September 2023
This film destroyed me with its emotions and uncertainties. Oh my God what a ride. I feel as though I am there with the protagonist. It is quite different from other films that depict people getting stuck in a dire situation. Yes, there is some use of artistic license here but hey besides that the imagination and the vortex of the film is steady, well pronounced, gripping. It just ended and I had to come here and review it. I have tears in my eyes. The whole film is a great highlight of someone going through the worst days of their lives ans wanting so bad to make things different. A reminder that our worst moments and situations are not comparable to these films. Thank you Netflix.

A QUIRKY ART FILM SOMETIMES BUGGING.
23 December 2022
Oh well, I saw this last night. First I thought it was a porno and for the first 30 minutes I did not have any idea what was going on. The camera work is great and you get to really see a lot of Romania. The acting is decent and the dialogues are so so. Overall this is a quirky eccentric random film that most people will not want to watch.

The 2nd part was completely pointless - like a collect of intellectual memes and notes from here or there.

The good thing about this film was how easy paced it was and how raw the Romanian culture is.

Still - I would not recommend this to anyone who was not as curious as i am.

Guilty pleasure!
2 December 2022
Dubai looks fantastic and this my friend is a vicarious treasure. You are hooked into the life of multiple egos with a lot of riches. Yes what gnaws and tugs at the core of heart are fairly mundane misgivings. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and of course it gave me more than what I was expecting. The IMDb rating is too unjust. This was way too much fun with such a mismatched ensemble. I totally look forward to a season2. I finished the first season in less than 24 hours. Wish to congratulate the makers for such outstanding sets, drama, locations, wardrobes and I felt all characters added glam. Yes I know it's reality tv but hey why not?!

Does society need this? Viewer discretion.
17 October 2022
I saw 2 episodes and found that it was quite violent. Yes the engagement level is there but what about the disturbing visuals and story? This is not at all good for society I'm sorry to say. By showcasing such events unfolding, we are allowing others to see what can happen and what can be considered as somehow acceptable behaviour. Also if you're thinking, I'm being a SJW, let me just say even from a selfish point of view, I feel I don't want to let such disturbing visuals and narrative enter my mindset frame. Please be a little selfish of what you allow into your life, into your mind, into your bedroom. Life will give you a lot of good then.

Too disturbing. Why do this to yourself?
18 September 2022
I have never seen something so disturbing. I saw it in one go because I wanted to find what happened. Sorry but this is very very disturbing. First time I've watched something of this painful magnitude. I've seen a lot of Netflix documentaries and have liked them but I've never seen something so disturbing. I mean, you feel for the characters who it's being done to. I'm 38, a father and sometimes documentaries need to not take it that far but I just came here so I can warn others to not do the same mistake. Trust me, your life will go just fine if you don't watch this. This is a 3 part series.

Take A Bow!
11 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We saw this today and my goodness this is an outstanding celebration of Indian history. It is a story with a lot of good acting, great drama, tight script, good dialogue. You are engaged throughout and not one scene feels overdone. Yes, this is a perfect blend of all good ingredients of a cult classic. I've seen Gump 4-5 times and yet this one is every bit as nutritious. Don't listen to naysayers who want to only hate everything so they are remembered for their fragile attention spans. Amir is delightful and glorious. No one in the world could do what he did with this role. As a sikh, im very proud too.

CHARMING AND MAKES YOU COLD

What a great film and I am happy such films are still made. It is patient, thought provoking and remarkable in depth. Shows grit, great generous casting and overall a delight to watch.

Jumbled Up. Uncomfy experience.
16 February 2022
The editor should be given an award cause he saved the film especially in the first half. The second half as you a little glued to the screen. The climax is ok. Coming to the acting - Sidhant is the star and he plays a negative'ish role well. Deepika is sub par because her casting is questionable. The chemistry felt wooden from the onset to the outro. The remaining two actors were mostly on the edges and edited as extras.

Overall - though i feel the film is decent, it really has no meaning or depth that it tried so hard to portray. I felt the director is the culprit. Even industry powerhouse actors like rajat kapoor and deepika could not save this sinking ship.

Problem - story, execution, directing Plot could have been handled better.

If they had made this into a comical blunder film full of depravity without apology it would have been better.

Refreshing Reality Show.
20 December 2021
It is amazing how cool the Korean Culture. People may not even shake hands let alone give a hug or handshake. More than anything, this show is letting me know just how many layers humans can have and it is fun to watch. I like the pacing of the show - it does not try too hard to get your attention span and grows gradually. I like most people on the show and the culture is quite rich, sets are good without the usual drama we associate with islands and single people. I have seen just the first 2 episodes and I am patiently awaiting more.

This is a baffling series about 11 people who passed away in Delhi in 2018. The plot thickens when the reason behind their demise is stated. However, the show is not worth watching as it is mostly interviews by experts and police officers. I don't recommend this to you. I am giving it 6 stars but because of the sensitive subject matter and the inability to relate or appreciate the show, I cant say I recommend it. It has three epsiodes but you dont want to watch this trust me.

FANTASTIC ACTING BY PACINO.
13 September 2021
This is Al Pacino's most memorable performance because his character is very cynical, most untrusting, extremely in-your face and overall Scent of a Woman is such a fun ride because he is there in almost every scene. The finesse with which the story explodes and presents itself is something that will make you yearn for more such films. The dialogues, oh my word, they are written so well. I saw this for the second time last night and I had to write a review. My favourite scene is one where Pacino decides to take his "help" to New York and the 20 or so minutes of fun and unpredictability that follow. Pacino is a very disturbed alcoholic in this film but beyond that there is a competitive grudge he surrounds himself with. He is a marvellous character and one that is so much fun to watch. I think he was more "himself" in this role than any other he has done. A 10/10 is obligatory.

Tear Fest.
2 August 2021
Oh my word, this film had me bawling. I'm a father so as someone who understands that bit, it really hit home. Kriti is actually a good actress. But the film has a gravitating storyline and a great execution. I can't believe the ups, downs, lows, highs and you know? After several years it seems A R Rahman has risen from his own ashes and delivered a good soundtrack. His voice on one song is unbelievable. Loved this film.

So Disappointed.
16 June 2021
The plot thickened a bit too much in this. Multiple things happening but what was lacking was the openness of the first two films. The openness which allowed viewers like me to concentrate. Apart from the first 20 minutes, this film just drags on and on. The central characters getting stuck in these mini-scares and the story writing is quite poor. They've caused some damage to the Conjuring series of films where the first was a classic, the second a tolerable follow up but the third has no head or legs to give it a good go. Im quite disappointed.

Please Note - my wife liked it, she is fairly critical of horror films.

This is not as bad as Nun but Im going to deduct 1 star for ruining a perfectly good franchise.

Scares - hardly 2 scenes Beauty - missing Ghost - unscary, unflattering, mildewed Overall - 3/10.

Great Thrill.
8 April 2021
Excellent plot that's moved along by the crisp acting and eyes that don't give away anything. Builds slowly and moves and picks up pace soon. Good direction, good story and good execution. Would recommend.

Warning -> brutal at times.

Decent one night thriller.
8 April 2021
-> average plot but good execution.

-> film is watchable, suspense is ok -> the sets make the film and the suspenseful air is nice for a night indoors -> scary? Not -> worth watching? If you're still reading yes.

It's like she never left.
8 April 2021
I speak of Pooja Bhatt in my review title. Some people are saying the show is pointless. I wonder who these people who are watching tv series to find a point. Why must anything have a point and a trajectory? Anyway back to the show. I liked the plot, the business dynamics, the sets, the conflicting hard to believe life styles. However - I found the little girl a little irritating and her pseudo rumination annoying. That said Bhatt is great in every scene. There is a lot of artistic license borrowed and the flow is fast. A lot of sex scenes and luckily for me they didn't move me at all. This is a good show. I know 3 out of 5 people in my family like it a lot. Whatever they're doing it works. It's bold.

Gobsmacking, Gutsy, American Film.
26 March 2021
There is a scene in the film where they don't take many takes. It is short in one single take and that is the base of the entire film. It is shocking, shattering, surprising - it also has this nice objective way of looking at life which i found rather surprising. There are so many expectations of the protagonist but it is upto her to decide the path she wants to tread. In that feat, I found this very realistic and very forward.

Instant Classic.
26 March 2021
There are some films that were made ten years back that have proved to be timeless because of their sense of production and screenplay. Though this is a new film I can already imagine it ageing very well. The story unfolds in an innocuous way with characters you might feel very very sorry for. And then - you forget that sorrow and their joy becomes yours. Outstanding sets, loved watching with subtitles. I must take me to Sweden. GREAT ACTING.

WHAT A FANTASTIC FILM.
19 January 2021
How do I even begin to write this review? Just wanted to chime in and say this off beat film is about a bar in Las Vegas closing down. The whole film focusses on patrons to the bars - alcoholics, middle aged people, unhappy people, people complaining about their lives, what could have been - all well behaved despite their fragile undercurrent. Loved, loved it.

Feel Shortchanged.
22 December 2020
The 90 Minute run time and title of the film attracted me. The first half is good, the second is slow, contemplative, confused. Overall, I feel a little cheated of my time. Leaving 5 stars. Actors are good but the story should have had a more plausible middle and end part. Character development is kinda half baked.

TRIBUTE TO INDIAN CLASSICAL
10 September 2020
If nothing else I hope this show despite its contemporary format manages to awaken the dormant passion for Indian Classical Music. The casting is par excellent. You can't watch the first 5 minutes of this show without getting hooked. If you have not seen the show, I dare you to see the first five minutes and then switch it off. N. Shah is fantastic, the newcomers and Atul Kulkarni are brilliant. There were moments in the show that are so passionate that they bought to tears to my eyes. This is a great joyride. Very realistic, in-depth character portrayal with great energy.

AVERAGE TO GOOD
2 September 2020
A film that makes light of itself. Not bad at all. We enjoyed this as much as you can enjoy an average film. Resilient film with very little over-acting. Most of it was believable.
