Lady Bird (2017)
Good acting but a really boring story
The plot is boring, there is no conflict or anything of that sort. It just flows and you slowly lose interest in it. The characters are chaotic. There's no conclusion at the end, it just ended abruptly.
The acting is good, but since the story is so... Off, it just didn't pull you in, and it doesn't make you sympathise with them. This is like the movie 'Eighth Grade'. Relaxing, yes, but pointless.
Not really recommended.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms (2018)
Predictable, and anticlimatic
It was beautiful, the world, the costumes, the characters. But the acting is a little bit off, some of the characters unnecessary. It was also a very predictable storyline, with exaggerated characters and anticlimatic ending. Not a bad movie overall, but not as good as I'd hoped.
Liar Game (2014)
The worst adaptation I have ever seen
This was based on a Japanese masterpiece of a manga. I went into this drama with high hopes but it completely obliterated my hope. Too many unnecessary talking and changes that it felt very slow and dull. Even the parts that are supposed to be thrilling are so dull. The main character's acting is so bad and fidgety. What a disappointment. Don't watch it, it's such a rip off
The Emoji Movie (2017)
A little rushed, but awesome nonetheless
I was expecting a bad movie from the low ratings, but hey, I rate what I see. So my expectations for this movie was low. But it turned out to be better than expected, and certainly better than the reviews. I don't know why people don't like it. The jokes are awesome and subtle, and if you really pay attention, this movie will make you laugh out loud.
The plot is awesome and really refreshing. The movie setting (the Wallpaper, how the apps works for the characters, etc) is very unpredictable and cool. The characters themselves are very funny (especially Hi-5). The only flaw this movie have for me is that the flow is a little rushed. It's just been, what, 20 mins into the movie and the conflict is already unfolding. But that's okay, since the little details are worth it.
I highly recommend this movie despite the low ratings of other people. ✋
Jaws (1975)
Pretty good, but not his best
The acting were superb. You can clearly see the terror on the 3 main actors' acting throughout the film, especially the ending. Even though the shark looked a little fake, it WAS released in 1975 so that was already awesome.
I went into this movie expecting something thrilling, something that will leave me scared to go into water. I was left with a sense of disappointment. There wasn't enough suspense, and in some scenes, the music killed the vibe. The ending was... not what I expected for a horror film and it left me with an unpleasant feeling. The death scenes were not clearly shown/depicted. And I get that this film wasn't trying to be gory, but not being able to see the deaths and the bodies kinda made me feel frustrated.
I know that the making of this film required more money and time than expected and that it took a heavy toll on everybody, especially Steven. But that's no excuse for the poor execution of the ending. There were some unnecessary scenes that could be cut to save budget and they could have used that time to increase the suspense and thriller feel.
But overall it's an awesome classic movie that I think everyone should watch at least once in their life.
Mimic (1997)
A good movie, bad setting
So the movie plot is pretty good. It's about an epidemic from cockroaches which was contained by the release of a new genetic bug, Judas, which should have only 6 months left to live once released. But they survived for 3 years and even developed lungs. They started mimicking the humans.
Okay now that's good and all, but most of the exciting bits happened in an abandoned subway tunnel, where (obviously) is dark. So even though it was well played, well carried out etc, the fact that it was half dark made it hard to see anything. You can see glimpses of the action, but that's it.
If you're a horror fan and you have night vision eyes, this is the perfect movie for you.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
What the heck?!
The rating was good so I expected a nice horror experience, and I was left with a ton of unanswered questions. SPOILERS: The acting was good, and I like how they can choose how they die (although without their knowledge). But the special effects were bad, the blood looked to fake, the zombies acting were weird, and the story made no sense at all.
The haunting question is: why? Can't the government choose 5 people randomly and get it over with? Why do they have to suffer? And if they really wanted the ritual to succeed, they should have made a guarantee that the person is dead before moving on. And if they really wanted to save the world, why didn't they kill themselves when they were teens? Why choose others who didn't give a damn when you could have killed yourself and save your beloved world? They should have gone with the ballerina, or the ball thing. The zombies ruined the whole movie. And even though this is a horror comedy, I didn't see any funny bits at all.
The intro was weird, and the outro was weird. I suggest that you don't watch this movie. Once again, this is a horrible plot for a movie, and you'll be wasting your time watching this, as I had. Seriously, don't watch it.
