Decent story, but there's a lot of unnecessary screen time
8 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
You read the description. We have two members of gay rugby team that hook up. Problem is both of them have couples, on of them also being a member of the team. Now there are two things that this movie plays poorly. One is we never get tow understand why is it so hard for them to end their current relationships. We never get to see much about Warren's, but Henry's makes no sense. His bf spend a lot of time traveling, whenever they are together they are just watching tv. Maybe they wanted to emphasize on how boring their life was? But still, it doesn't really explain why are they still together. The second point if the movie length. I don't have any issue with a long movie, but if its long for a reason. Here, we have am awful lot of time showing events/side stories that don't add anything to the main plot. And final but worst, the characters are too unidimensional (we never see what they do for a living, the depth of each other relationships, or even get too deep on why are the main couple even together). Srsly, we get it, they are very attracted to each other and they have a lot of sex...isn't that how most relationships start anyway? They have the same issue as their corresponding BFs, we never truly understand what makes their relationship special other than sex Still, its not a bad movie, both the main actors are eye candy, and a lot of people will familiarize with many aspects of what the film is abour.

Great zombie flick
5 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I don't get the low score on this. I assume it must come from the manga/anime fans whining about some liberties taken in the movie? Honestly, I watched this without even knowing it was based on an anime, and it was great! The history is funny, characters might be a itch cliché but still likeable. Also, coming from a culture like Japanese, where work overload is a serious issue (people actually die for excessive work) this movie has a meaningful message How many of us are living a zombie-like life, going to a work we hate, spending most of our time coming-going to said job, and not actually doing what we would like? This like a new take on "what would you do if tomorrow didn't matter, and all you have is today" I lobe anime, but honestly the fandom can be so toxic sometimes. If you watch this movie as it is, an adaptation of a story you won't be disappointed If you are a fan of the original work, well, there's the anime version on Netflix too, go watch that.

Sex and the city - gay version
1 August 2022
Like many others said, comparing this to S&TC is quite accurate. I was never a fan of that series but I have seen few episodes soyeah, they are quite similar. There are points I liked and points that didn't What I liked: the show does go on some of the common issues gay dating brins along nowadays (date apps, d**k pics) to some more serious issues, like notusing condoms on quick hookups, not being able to "do the deed" because the other guy's member is waay too big (yes, this can be an issue, believe or not), or hooking up way too fast. As a gay man, I have gone or know someone who has had this problems, so kudos on nailing that aspect of the gay single life Dint' like: The cliches: Funny how in 2022 protraying gay with 90's cliches is still a thing. And pretty much every charaters is a walking cliche somehow. Or not? Maybe real people are like that? That leads me to the other point. I've been in NY about 5 times now, always as a tourist (I don't live in the US), but does the life as a new yorker like they try to show it? (not only here, but movies, other series like Friends, S&TC and much more). All new yorkers are hot, wealthy, wear designer clothes, go to exclusive clubs AND all of this on week days?

There was a time I whished I could live in NY because of the idea of that amazing life. But after being tere that many times, I'm starting to think it's the Hollywood idea of NY life.

Not Pixar's best, but a really solid one
14 July 2022
Ok, so I watched this movie a bit too late. I was a bit ceptical when it first came out, and the premise wasn't convincing enough for me to watch. That was until I saw 2022's Pixar "Turning Red" and honestly I felt it was awful.

Not because of the most mentioned "flaw" (a story that resembles a lot the story of a girl's first period) but because its characters, its animaion, everything was...loud and annoying. Maybe the audience for the movie was meant to be younger, I dunno, but when did Pixar lost is way? After Toy Story 3? (TS4 was not bad, but I liked the ending of 3rd much better) I keep seeing their new movies, like Luca (which lack sotry whatsoever) and then I decided to watch this one And I got to say, it still has some of pixar's charm (shiny characters, amazing colorful scenarios, and a great soundtrack) but this one had something different. This story was mostly about family. There's even no villian (well, maybe looking the flashbacks), but the story is escentially how sometimes we feel the need to accomplish what's excpected from us, even if the stakes are sky high. And how, "not talking" and just trying to fill that role can hurt a relation The symbolisms of the house breaking and the magic being lost is basically showing how something that seems to be perfect might be broken inside, and how love and understanding can fill those holes Again, I don't think "this" movie waas the breaking point of Pixar, in fact I think they're just an average studio nowadays, and you will have hit and misses. For me, this one was a hit.

Ok-ish zombie movie for the pile
13 July 2022
Can't really say something good or bad for this movie. It's not in the pile of crap Netflix releases by hordes, but it doesn't have anything that makes it above average. Characters are stereotypes, but this was obiously intentional for the tone. Speaking of which, this is supposed to take place in the spanish civil war in late 30s, but of course it has to have diverse an inclsive characters, like the strong sexy female, a muslim? Fighting in the spanish army, a badass nun wit a rifle. Yeh, its not supposed to be funny or parody, but yet it is Having said that, if you like zombie films anshave nothing else to watch, you wont regret spending 2 hours with this.

Different take on a zombie-pocalypse
11 June 2022
Ok, so this is a weird movie. It's not entire comedy (it does has its funny moments, but it's no a 'ha-ha' comedy). It's not a drama but it does focus a lot on the grieveing of the MC, while he's dealing with his resurrected girlfriends. Also, zombies here are not mindless eating beasts. They way it's protrayed, it's kinda the dead just wake up from being dead (without remembering they died), and become more aggresive the more they stay alive. It's kind of implied that the whole mess started when Beth died, and it ended as soon as she's...back to dead. The movie doesn't explore much on the 'how' everything happened, and it kinda ends abruptly with the charcaters seemingly not very traumatized from everything that happened In short, movie is about a guy who just lost his gf, but she comes back from the dead, slowly becoming what you would expect from a zombie. All of this seem to happen to give the protagonist a chance of processing her death and saying goodbye. Worth a watch.

It delivers on its premise
8 May 2022
Honestly, it's the first animated Netflix series that I was able to binge after Bojack Horseman, and also one of the very few that left me waiting for the second part (yes, apparently the 10 episodes available are the first part of the 20 episodes that will be s1) It's good. Not toilet humor everywhere like Big Mouth (just the right amount). The jokes and puns are usually clever and well used. Most of the jokes are what you can expect from a show that jokes/parodies on conspiry theories like reptilian people, flst eartheners, illuminatti, moon landng, etc The characters, though mostly stereotypes, are properly used (none of them gets too much attention anyway) and the MC will probably show a flaw you will feel identified with (either hers or one left by her disfunctional parents).

Read the premise, if you think you csn enjoy it, the show will be exactly what you would expect from it.

Good amount of nostalgia factor brought into 2020's
4 May 2022
Honestly, after the disaster of the ultra feminist version that came a few years ago, I thought ghostbusters lost it's chance for a comeback as a franchise, sequels, w/e. But this movie makes up so much for the last "reboot" (if you even can call it that way). I not a super fan of ghostbusters, but I did watched the movies/animated series back in the 80's, just like TMNT aand so many others.

And not even being a super fan, I got goosebumps wen we were shown all the old tools of the guys one y one (the trap, the car, the plasma gun). Somehow the ambientation makes it feela bit in the 80's (or maybe is the presence of Mike from Stranger Things?), but I was genuinely exited withe first chase/catch. The kids make such a great team (and diverse, which maybe it's something the feminist version could have thought instead of making every male character bad) Paul Rudd as ususal shows he can adapt to any role while keeping his charisma, and all the nods to the 80's movie and the final fight (don't wanna spoil anything here but I even dropped a few tears of emotion) really makes you whish a franchise with these cast comes and soon!

Nice mixture of genres
19 April 2022
What would happen if we take superman origin story and turn kid Clark Kent into some kind of evil anti-christ like kid? Well, the result would be this movie. It's not gonna be much different from horror standard nowadays (some cheap jump scares here and there, lights that go on and off conveniently showing something creepy, bit of gore here and tere) but the hero-like origin of the villain makes it worth a watch. The did and exceptional casting with the kid. Really can get your nerves just watching him stare at something.

I think they discovered a new genre..te wtf did I just watch
26 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm just gonna cut to the chae here, because the only part of the plot that has any sense is en the description. Now let's go to the point were they reach this community and weird stuff start to happen First, these people use all kind of stuff to drug themselves during their rituals, so I guess that gives this some sense as of why they do all this stuff?. Second, there'sno horror at all, wtf moments and gore (exhbibt A, after a meal an old couple make a ritual in which they jump from a clif...cuz they are old...Exhibit B, one of the members just dissapears afte a nice lady tell him to come with him...after he peed in some sacred tree couple of hours ago. Luckily the movie is not that long, 30 mins to the end, the protagonist wins a contest to be... a queen...(?) and find his boffriend having sex with one of the town girls in front of other naked women (his bf is having the trip of his life at this point because of all the drugs they gave him...and he gladly took..). End scene, we see all the town gathering the remains of the group (some of them seem to be only heads on top of dolls), being burned in a small house, everyone celebrating the sacrifice (to who???) and the protagonist, now queen, finally smiling whle looking at the burning house If you think I skipped dialog, it was during the first 40 mins of the movie. The rest just happens, nobodysaying why the do what they do, and the MC just watching as she's tripping as everything around her just happens. Credits rolls Srsly, you just can't put this in any category, no thriller, horror, gore, porn (although we have at least 10 mins of explicit sex) Indie maybe? Thought it would be an insult to other indie movies.

Nice feecets and action. Decent plot. Anything you can excpect from Reynolds
20 March 2022
Ok, so the movie itself can be summed up by the trailer. We got this kind who is kind of an a-hole since his dad died. Then out of nowhere he meets his future self, who is a badass pilot sent back in time to accomplish a mission. No spoilers will be given. The story is alright, the time travel theories/consecuences are kinda poorly explained but it's still entertaining.

The only thing that I find midly annoying is that, as any other Ran Reynolds mvoie, they are driven by his hrisma, sense of humor nd how good he know to make puns. Don't get me wrong, I like him, he's a good actor, but I think Hollywood is wasting his acting skill by just letting him play himself. Which is good at some poits, but lately all of his movies are like that, so they feel a little like clones.

A different approach on the zombie genre
14 March 2022
Ok, so first off, the series is not bad at all. I know it's based on a miniseries, and the premise is good. Basically, we have this crappy reality show and their typically stereotypical characters. Then suddenly a zombie apocalypse breaks (its never explained where and how, but it doesn't really matter). The effects are decent, there's a lot of gore. The characters are bland but gien how little they last (most of them) we don't really need all of them to be developed. The message of the series has been told before (who's worst, the undead outside or the alive inside fighting over power). Honestly, if you are a zombie fan, you will like it. Don'y excpect anything too original, that's all.

Did I saw the same shows as these 10/10 ratings?
4 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly I wanted to like this, since I saw so many good reviews, and the first two episodes are a bit slow but you thibk "we are getting there". Now that I ended the series, I have a lot to say: Yes, there's way to much monologue from pretty much every single character about their problems. Characters we don't even get to learn their name even. The protagonist comes witha bakground story that has little to nothing to do with the plot itself Next, the plot. So, basically an old priest goes to Israel and get lost in the desert, and find himself in a cave in the middle of a sandstorm. Now, in the cave he finds a creature that attacks him, drinks his blood, but after hearing his dying word, the things gives him some blood and the priest magically becomes young. So, what would anyone in that situation think? "The thing that attacked me, scuked my blood, has fangs and wings of a vampire...must be an angel! Praise the lord"....yeah, I don't think so He returns to his island with the "angel" isnide a cage because, oh right, he can't take sunlight. But that's ok, the "angel" must have his reasons. He tells a few people the truth and their reaction is the same "let the angel suck my blood and kill me so I resurrect like Jesus".....I know the islanders are suposed to be super religious, but really? Nobody at any point thought that effing creepy looking monster could be a demon?

By the final episode everyone is turned into a vampire except a few, who die trying to stop the vampires from leaving the island. While the vampires are "saving" people by dragging them out of their houses and killing them like in a zombie movie, again thinking this is god's will Apparently they were aware that the finale was 10 mins away because suddenly they realize that, they MIGHT have been wrong and what they did wasn't so sacred after all, so they go to the beach and sing while watching the sunrise and dying. The end Honestly, whatever message this series tried to transmit was completely lost. All tat you will left behind is te unresolved drama that haunted pretty much everyone on the island. Oh and of course, a final pointless monologue about life from one of the dying main characters Just watch it if you really need some bore, need to sleep or don't have anything else to watch at all.

Randomly came across this gem on Netflix
14 August 2021
Gotta say, the trailers don't even remotely show how good this movie is. I'm a big horror fan, and it's been a while since a movie kept me on the edge like this one.

At first you would think it will be a Blair witch project wanna be because of the first person camera, but trust me, you stop noticing that 20 mins in the movie. It gets really creepy at parts, and it has so many plot twists you end up wanting a sequel.

The protagonists kids had a lot of chemistry and are really well played into their roles (I think the kid knew his rapping was going to be cringey but still stood up to it) Won't spoil anything about the end, but I will say it will keep you entertained until the last minute.

Should've been called "Generic zombie flick: Korean version"
17 April 2021
Seriously, waiting so many years for the sequel for the amazing Train to Busan for this? It has absolutely nothing that made the previous movie a sucess. Feels like a really long episode of Walking Dead or any generic zombie movie out there. The only connection to the original is that, technically, we are talking about the same outbreak. No character connections, plot is generic, actions scenes are not bad but nothing new to the genre. I even had to stop 30 mins in when MC is saved by a truck Terminator way. I thought "come with me if you want to live", then the driver chick rolls the window and literally says that (I want to believe it was ironically). Not a bad zombie movie, just not the Train to Busan 2 we all wanted I guess.

Surprisilingly good! If you liked Zombieland you will dig it
17 April 2021
Honestly I watched this on Netflix with the lowest excpectations. Unknown actor names, a dumb movie name and the premise sounded like a another cheap apocalypse movie we see so much. The characters are kinda cliche sure, but the movie is amazing. From how it shows bits of how the apocalypse started, to the amazing journey of the MC (and of course, his dog. Man! Best dog mate since "I'm legend"). It has Zomieland vibes all over it, from the MC personality, to the companions he meets on the trip. The main arc of the love-inspired trip ends kind of like you would excpect it, but the visuals of the monsters are incredibly well done (this movie didn't had a low budget in cgi, thats for sure). I'm totally hoping for a sequel, but seeing how many years it took Zombieland to get one this might never happen, but hey, we can always hope.

A nice change to the slasher genre by fusing it with groundhog day
27 June 2020
At first, watching the title, the posters you probably think "ugh, another slasher movie with a masked killer". This movie turns out to be a completely and original story. The protagonist is killed and for some reason has to relive the day of her death over and over. The developments in each of the iteration make the plot advance and has a little touch of "Mean Girls" during it. Not gonna spoil anything, but this movie delivers exactly what it wants to deliver. Doesn't take too seriously which makes it more engaging for the viewer. A nice revival touch to a genre that got old in the 90's. Totally worth watching

Maybe there was something I missed....
24 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, so I'll get to the point. This movie has a walking hand going to his "owner" during basically the whole movie. The only reason I ave it a two it's bceause the animation is well made, but the plot? WTH was that plot? Summarized, a kid who wanted to be a pianist and an astronaut has a car accident with his parent, which them both die. Then we fast forward to his audlthoof, ina non-loving family (or we assume, everything is shown fast forward with no further explanation). So, he's a failure in life, he is a pizza delivery guy who is always late. By now you must be wondering "ok, so this is Peter Parker", well, almost, except he never gets bitten by a spider. He falls in love with a woman by having an exchange via intercom (he failed to deliver her pizza ontime) so, the movie becomes this guy trying to find this girl and eventually working in her....father's? wood shop. There a litttle romance here and there, then he confesses the girl he followed her since the day of the delivery, and took the job to be close to her. He goes away (obviusly) and then, in a sequence that is bordering the ridiculos, he cuts his hand Soooo, you would think that the journey of the hand would have a trascendental meaning to find him....no, in the last 10 minutes, the hand help the girl find the main character (apparently she forgave him?) only to find he jumped to...a working station in a building...and he's not even there....roll the credits (srsly that's hhow the final scene goes) I was left scratching my head after what I saw and I find this movie has almost an 8?....Nuh-huh, I support amateur movies or movies that try to go away from the cliche, but this movie. Didn't wanted to be cliche, and ended up being a bunch of nonsense....and cliche...

Not bad, but the plot twist was kind of an overkill
20 October 2019
So, yeah, pretty much every review mentions the plot twist by the end and yes, it kinda blows up the whole setup. The movie is not bad, the acting is decent (the kid specially) the scares are pretty cliche (things appearing on mirrors or in very-often light crackles) and by the hour and ten you kinda have a good setup, but I think they missed the mark on how to end the story. Not gonna spoil anything, it's not as terrible to kill the whole rating of the movie, but they definitely could have gone in another direction. Not a bad choice if you wanna kill some time

Too much unnecessary political plot and few actions scenes for a 2 hours vampire movie
9 August 2019
Honestly, if you are trying to find another "Train to Busan", you won't find it here. The plot revolving a rebellion for the throne takes way too long to develop and ends up completely unnecessary in the development of the movie. The effects of the vampires (dunno why people are trying to say these are zombies, because they have all the characteristics of vampires) are decent at best, but the action scenes are way too few and short for a 2 hour film. I had to drag myself during the duration of it since 2/3 of the movies I was completely bored from the rebellion arc that ends up being useless. Just watch if you have 2 hours to spare, but be warned that most of the screen time will be chit chat

Gotta be the worst in the franchise...
3 August 2019
Well, except for the Nun and La llorona if you count them....After and hour and 10 mins of build up (yes, at 2/3 of the movie) the action starts. Action may be a very generous term here....the formula of lights out, silenced music and a cheap jump scare used over and over. The characters are incredibly bland (well, the daughter is not that terrible, but the other two girls are simply moronic, specially the one that just goes in and pretty much does what nobody with a working brain cell would do). They really should stop trying to milk out this franchise anymore. And if they do, please bring back the Warrens in the movies. Having them for 10 mins in the whole movie is just cheap

Disappointing to say the least
17 April 2019
Ok, let's start from the obvious: the way it's presented. We get to see...segments? of the story separated by titles. You would think this was for episode 1 were the cats is introduced but no, they keep doing it till the end. And sometimes the jump show situation that require a minimum explanation on how did they got there. There isn't any. The characters are plain, dull (honestly, most of the cast would have been the first to die i an actual apocalypse) and cliche overall (mashup of zombie movie characters, Dawn of the dead comes to mind, but much dumber. You can't really like any of them because of their decisions (I only kinda liked the Korean girl because she was bad ass in her own way, but inexplicably we get moments in which she is speaking to everyone in korean, and everyone seems to understand her sometimes?) Zombies are nothing new, again, copy paste from any zombie movie. The plot overall is also cliche. And I won't even mention the ending of last episode because that was just the worst. Not waiting for season 2, even if they dream of making it

May have it flaws, but it does deliver in horror
19 March 2019
Wow, just wow. I haven't been so creeped out in a while. While there is no clear explanation and the ending is unresolving, the whole movie does know how to give you the chills. And it doesn't rely heavily on jump scares, some of the horror just comes from low light, creepy music along with a scene where someone is mentally tormented by the entity living in the house. It may not be perfect, but as a horror fan, this was the first time in a while I was actually scared to keep watching without turning the light and lowering the volume to prevent further scares

A two hour build up with an very poor ending
24 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, so I'm not gonna jump in the "it's a ripoff from "A quiet place", even though the setup is VERY similar and, even if this is based on a much older book, the timing to release a movie like this doesn't feel like a coincidence. Anyway.... I think the most unsatisfying things of this movie are: A) We never get to see the "creatures", I know it's part of the mystery and stuff, but at least we could have a quick glance by the end of the movie of something....al we see is leaves rising from the ground (and some drawing from one of the characters who actually saw them) B) Most of the characters are cliche and don't really matter except from the protagonist couple. We are presented with like 10 people from who the whole importance is that one of them is also pregnant (boy, I wonder who are the two children with Sandra Bullock back to "5 years later" when the film starts C) The ending. So they reach this blind people school, ok cool, blind people are immune to the creatures, so they are gonna stick there forever? is that the happy ending? will they have enough supplies for all the people forever in this house in the middle of nowhere? This feels like a really loose end, kinda like the author didn't know how to conclude the story If you have to choose, watch "A quiet place", similar premise, but much better achieved, better monster (yes, we get to see them) and the acting overall is much better

Honestly, this movie was entertaining and had good action scenes and acting (the interaction between Brock/Venom is quite fun). Sure, is not a Marvel movie per se, but honestly we have had sooo many of those , this one felt a lot more refreshing Tom Hardy, as hot as usual, make a great anti-hero who wants to do better
