Eternals (2021)
Bland Storyline
The storyline was terrible. Too much happening in a 2.5 hour movie. The characters didn't make much of an impression either. Action sequences were still alright, but got bored after the first hour. Don't really see how they would fit in with the rest if the marvel crew.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Reminiscent Elements
The idea of having more than 1 villain in a movie has been refuted in the past, (Spiderman - 3), calling it loaded. But this movie brought it home with the original cast back at it once again. The trio was definitely something all of us were anticipating. I particularly loved how they subtly introduced Daredevil in it as well, hinting to a marvel's defenders inclusion in the near future. The mix of comedy, action and emotion was brilliantly portrayed, reflecting both terrible and selfless decisions that a teenager takes for the fate of the world. Loved it through and through.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Ridiculously Good Action!
Shang Chi is a completely action-packed movie, from start to end. Sure, the story was predictable with a meek narrative, but those gaps were filled with 2 hours of crazy action. The action sequences and cinematography in itself were quite impressive, considering a good portion of the movie showed sequences without any super powers. Its a good watch!
11.22.63 (2016)
Story captured pretty well in this mini-series
The plot of this show had a perfect build up through the span of the 8 episodes. Felt a little slow paced in some areas hence the 8 rating overall. But the theme popped out beautifully; you can't change the past, so create a better future..
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two (2021)
Catwoman seemed to own batman...
So, the second part wasn't as thrilling as the first one, didn't have many plot twists or unpredictable scenes either. The sequences were still really good. Not sure why Catwoman's fighting abilities were portrayed as superior to the bat's. Still, decent take for a sequel...
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Went for Margot Robbie!
This is definitely a time killer for those lazy weekends. Storyline is pretty bland and jokes are crass, which don't exactly get a laugh out, but it's action-packed. You now what it is if John Cena has the most sane character. I went to see this movie for Harley Quinn, and Margot Robbie does not disappoint. She's an absolute dolly doll!! Love her acting...
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Boring despite Emily Blunt's Charm...
As the movie progressed, I was waiting for a scintillating moment, but there was none of that. Couldn't get a single laugh through the whole movie. Emily Blunt was quite charming, but couldn't overshadow the dull plot. Was expecting it to be something like Jumanji, but failed to be anywhere near it.
Hannibal (2013)
Thrilling but slow paced
Initially the show was extremely intense and suspenseful. But after a season and a half the show really lost its thrill in, what you could see, irrelevant episodes. Interesting take on a serial killer, but wish it could have kept its intensity till the end.
Black Widow (2021)
Too fast paced, but great action sequences...
For 2 hours, it felt like they were rushing through the back story a little too fast. There wasn't much room for character development. Regardless of that, the action sequences were extremely intense, thrilling to watch.
Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021)
Hilarious!
The sequel was as good as the first one in terms of entertainment, if not better. Comedy movies now a does aren't as funny, but this is sure to get a laugh out of you. Though the plot is weak, Salma Hayek, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson are a hysterically killer trio.
Formula 1: Drive to Survive (2019)
A high intensity sports documentary..
This F1 documentary is extremely intense. Each episode is gripping and draws attention to the intricacies of Formula 1 racing. Everything from losing weight 2 hours before the Singapore Grand Prix, to the perilous collisions, never knew F1 could be this heated. Definitely sparked my interest in F1!
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Pretty good for an alien invasion story
Not gonna lie, the only reason I decided to watch this was because of Yvonne Strahovski. She was brilliant as usual. But overall the movie was actually pretty good with the action scenes, except for some failed attempts at humor. Definitely a watch for the weekend.
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021)
Not action paced, yet still an interesting take!
Every DC movie or series being produced around the Batman realm has a similar take to how the Batman portrays justice when compared to other superheroes. You'll definitely feel every bit of Batman: The Dark Knight in this movie, yet it has interesting twists of its own. Loved the suspense built up right till the end, and the voice cast was marvelous. Can't wait for part-2 next month.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Beautifully Written script
This movie takes you on a roller coaster of emotions.
Never is there a dull moment in any scene. The mixture of romcom and drama is perfect. The script itself is marvellous, and the characters are portrayed perfectly.
Its a great watch.
Lucifer (2016)
Died Off Somewhere
The show was fun to watch initially, watching the devil engage in debauchery. Also the romantic angle was quite enticing. But there never seemed to be any character development. The storyline just started to wrap around in itself and became quite boring. Plus, the latests episodes are an eyesore, absolute overkill.
You might want to stop after the first 3 seasons if you care for the story, but you might stick around to see how the romance evolves.
Friends: The Reunion (2021)
Not bad at all!
I was under the initial impression that it'll just feel like a talk show with James Corden hosting, but it merged scenes from past and present quite well. I loved the cameos in between, specially Maggie Wheeler's "Oh My God!' entrance. It could have done without a couple acts, like the India/Ghana back and forth, which was slightly annoying. But overall its a good reunion take.
Ozark (2017)
Crafty Plot Line
The story is neat, not gonna lie. I didn't expect Jason Bateman to play a role like this, but he did and he did it perfectly. It was almost like he was playing his real self. Julia Garner played her role as a woman trying to keep her family alive through this extremely well. The build-up to the dramatic scenes was quite intense, edge-of-the-seat-gripping intense! Can't wait for the final season!
Army of the Dead (2021)
Honour Among Zombies Theme
You would definitely want to watch this movie if you're even remotely into zombies or if you haven't had enough of the walking dead. It's a decent take on what a zombie apocalypse will feel like. Some characters in the movie do feel extra. But watch the show for the sequences rather than character development. I like how Snyder introduces a sort of "Honour among Zombies" theme. Don't expect much from this movie, but its definitely a one-time watch.
Covert Affairs (2010)
Mediocre storyline, great characters
It's not exactly what a typical spy show should feel like. It's too unrealistic, and since it isn't a comedy, the drama definitely lacks intent. The characters in the show are great. But for some reason, it doesn't scream entertainment. It doesn't grow on you as the show progresses, but you could pick it up and watch an episode from time to time.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
Best Attempt at a Horror Series!
Scripting a perfect horror series is impossible, but this show is as close to perfect as it gets. The character development in the first couple episodes is executed brilliantly. The plotline is impeccable with jump scares at the most unexpected moments, unlike most horror shows where the dramatic music leads you to the scares. The first season was phenomenal and the second season is able to hold its own. Loved the show!
Community (2009)
Hilarious through and through
This show is hilarious. The characters are fun to watch. Everything from Danny Pudi and Donald Golver's uncanny friendship, Joel McHale taking the lead to Alison Brie being Alison Brie, is entertaining. I was slightly disappointed when Chevy Chase had a fall out with the rest of the cast, he was fantastic for the time that he was on the show. Ken Jeong plays the perfect role to keep the comedy rolling. If you're looking for a light-hearted sitcom, where the scenes actually make you laugh out, then go for this show.
Better Call Saul (2015)
Remarkable Spinoff
Quite unordinary for a spinoff to do so well. The show is created quite similar to breaking bad and the plot progression is just as incredible. The development of the protagonist is the most gripping element of the show. The creators have managed to create a setting that fits right onto the past and future of the breaking bad timeline. The only reason I've rated it 9 is because at times certain episodes may feel like the show is being dragged on, but subsequent episodes quickly turn the tables. I'd say, go for it.
The Office (2005)
Brilliantly Crafted Sitcom
This is definitely one of my top shows of all time. The sarcasm -filled plotline and the dramatic development of so many characters on the show makes it binge-worthy. The romantic angles along with the heated duel created between certain characters evolves beautifully as the show progresses. The simple yet hilarious story of a mediocre paper company hits 10s across the board. It is a must watch!
2 Broke Girls (2011)
Disappointing!
Two broke girls is, at best, a half-hearted approach on comedy. I enjoyed the first season of the show, despite the racist jokes. All the characters seemed to have quick and witty replies, which was fun to watch. But the show went completely down hill from there onwards. The characters were extremely hard to relate to and the jokes became more bland as the show progressed. Some of the characters became really annoying after a point of time, specially Sophie. I think somewhere towards the end of the second season, the show kind of lost its intent and just continued with the same baseless jokes and crass humor..
The Boys (2019)
Fantastic Plot and Script
A great take on anti-heroes. I'd say this is probably the first take at a script like this. With multiple shocking moments to keep you gripped and a whole lot of drama, this show definitely deserves to be up with the greats.
