Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995)
Any Version Of This Film Is Bad
In this sequel it has been years since Jamie and Michael disappeared. At the same time "Michael Myers Survivor" Tommy Doyle(From Halloween 1) has moved into the boarding house across the street from Michael's original home. He knows that this "Halloween" Michael will return and he is waiting.
Now living in the old Myers House is Michael's uncle (Why didn't he Now Daniel Farrands picked up the threads that were left behind from "Halloween 5" which included "The Man in Black". In this we learn who he is. What is shocking was that years later the writer/director of "Halloween 5" (Dominique Othenin-Girard) said that was something they added when they were shooting the film.
Now much of the production and production problems have been told over the years. One problem was the production budget was cut while they were shooting forcing script changes. When the film was subject to the test audience the response wasn't good and the film was sent back into production.
When we finally got to see the "Producers Cut" it is slightly better but not much. The Original Theatrical ending was one big What the Heck moment! I was saw it at the theaters and was mad and I thought that would be the last "Halloween" movie. It grossed less than $16,000,000.
3 years later however the producers were wise and ignored "Halloween 4-6" when Jamie Lee Curtis returned to play Laurie Strode. It was a wise move. "Halloween 4" was great. "Halloween 5" and "Halloween VI" were not only creative failures but box office failures as well!
"Halloween H20" when that was released took in more money at the box office then the combined gross of "Halloween IV- VI".
Young Sheldon (2017)
The Mother was Funny
This show has had lots of hype before the premiere. It has been advertised all Summer and it was bound to disappoint people AND IT DID.
In this "Big Bang" spin off we get Sheldon as a young prodigy. He skipped several grades and now in high school at the age of 9!
He is now in the same grade as his older brother. His brother is also on the football team and his dad is the coach. SO conflicts will arise from that I am sure but I doubt that will be funny.
Sheldon also has a twin sister who is street smart beyond her years. Sheldon has book smarts his sister has street smarts. The dad in this show seems lost on how to parent any of kids and finally shows Sheldon some of his "emotional" self.
The shows creatures should however re-think the show. "Young Sheldon" is not a kid you want to see every week. You want to see him get his butt kicked because he is a little jerk. The narration makes this into a "Rip-off" of "The Wonder Years" and I really did not like that show.
The saving grace in this entire show is Zoe Perry. She is funny and the show should be built around her. It could be a show about a mom dealing with 3 different children with an alcoholic husband.
From what I have seen in the first episode doesn't make me want to see another.
Mega Fans will love this show however there is not enough of them to make this show a hit!
Vibes (1988)
So Boring & Not Funny
In this comedy, the underhanded Harry Buscafusco (Peter Falk) tricks two naive psychics, Sylvia Pickel (Cyndi Lauper) and Nick Deezy (Jeff Goldblum), into helping him locate a hidden treasure in Ecuador.
This film is terrible. This was a film that was meant to launch Cyndi Laupner's film career. It didn't. The film was written by Deborah Blum Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel. However they seem not to know if it wanted to be a rip-off "Ghostbusters" or "Romancing the Stone".
A week after the film opened to bad box office and bad reviews Cyndi said "Hey I didn't write it or direct it". SHe she did however contribute the song "A Hole in My Heart That Goes All the Way To China". That song was also a disaster. It was to be included or her upcoming record album but she had it remove to further remove herself from the film.
Peter Falk also has a part in this but its not a big enough part to save this piece of crap!
30 years you will be hard pressed to see a DVD release or see anybody involved with the film willing to talk about it.
Battle of the Sexes (2017)
When Billie Beat Bobby was much better and 30 minutes shorter
The only thing that this film has that the television didn't is a bigger budget and not hiding Billie's sexuality. The screenplay is mediocre and doesn't really capture the 1970's. The television film also has much better actors and better screenplay.
Both films deal with the sexism the was women had to endure more in the 1970's. However this film does show that women were getting 1/2 the money men were getting playing the same sport.
Emma Stone is fine in the role of Billie. Steve Carell has makes a caricature out of Bobby Riggs and not really show his "human side". Yes Bobby was a real life cartoon but for a film that runs 30 minutes longer than its television counterpart it could of done a better job.
If you are looking for a good film to watch KEEP LOOKING
The Spirit of Christmas (1998)
Boring
This was a great idea for a DVD but it need to have a better flow then what was presented here. This constantly shifts from black and white footage to color. This is the type of DVD you would put on for background but the DVD was poorly produced that you are better off throwing away the DVD.
Keep in mind this is not the puppet movie. This DVD is a collection of Christmas displays from all over the United States. Some of the footage is over 50 years old.
If you want a DVD about Christmas displays then buy Christmas Lights on DVD. Its is more colorful and better made.
