Huo Yuan Jia (2006)
Another great martial arts epic. Simple enough said.
Fearless is predictable as anyother martial arts epic I have ever seen. Yet what makes it still a very interesting and entertaining movie. The fact that the martial arts are so well pulled off I can watch the entire cliché plot lines and still very much enjoy it. The movie was very simple. Man overrides flaws to become hero, through knowledge of not power but simple modesty. Hero leaves for a certain amount of years and live in the mountain with a village that has no idea of what he was or who he is. Hero know he must return and does so with the most apologetic of tones. Hero then goes on to fight rightously only to be tricked and cheated. Then hero dies. Very cliché. But for the most part you are not there for the story line. People come to see great martial arts. And right now there is none better than Jet Li. Even though one can watch the movie and use the lessons taught, such as modesty and restraint, and apply it your own life, mostly you want to see Jet Li fight Nathan Jones and other fighters. I enjoyed very much the use of Chinese through out the entire movie. I cannot stand dubbed films. I do not mind reading, but I understand some people cannot not concentrate on reading and Jet Li punching someone in the face at the same time. Which, sadly, stops some people from watching the film.
Crossover (2006)
Ouch!
This movie was a Crossover that is for sure. I broke my ankle on purpose just to try and get through the painful story line and horrible streetball action. If you want to see streetball just rent the And1 Mix Tape tours, even though they are a jumble of random moves, they are still better action then Crossover. This acting was not good either. The character development and personalities are cliché. And why now is Wayne Brady trying to get this tough guy persona. Ever since the Chappelle show appearance he is now all of a sudden more sinister. All in all this was not a good movie, I guess you can tell from my vote 1 out of ten, and that is 1 is just because there is nothing lower.
