Sound of Freedom (2023)
This movie is unforgettable
I was unsure about seeing this movie because I don't do well with movies that are extremely violent or dark. I am more the rom-com type. But after seeing an interview with Tim Ballard, who is the central character in this movie, I was compelled to go. I will never forget those children. To see this movie really brought into focus for me the tragedy that is being played out daily all over the world.
The acting is excellent and the movie is as well produced as many higher budget movies. I am so thankful it has been brought out of the vault. Please take the time to go see it! It is an excellent movie and I hope has the power to actually cause some real changes.
The Offer (2022)
Fun dramatization for Godfather fans
Okay, this is not a documentary. Those people who hate it because it only shows one possibly exaggerated viewpoint are missing the point. The Godfather is an unforgettable film that can never be remade. Those of us who keep watching it over again just want more. And this series gives us an enjoyable trip behind the scenes. Some of the actors are great, a few not so much. But overall, I love it. This is sort of like watching The Crown. It's not history so much as just a dramatic interpretation of real events.
Life Itself (2018)
Not a romantic comedy.
There is quite a bit to like in this movie, but there are a couple of things that really bothered me. The acting is really good. I loved watching these couples fall in love and their relationships grow. I loved the flashback and narrator devices that were used to tell the stories.
I was very fond of both the male characters in the first part of the movie. But then both of the men make extremely devastating selfish choices to abandon their children. Even if I sympathized with their reasons, I could not forgive their actions. The women in these two couple really shine. They are the real heroes.
I can't really recommend this for anyone who is sensitive or depressed. It is not an uplifting movie. This is not a romantic comedy - more like a romantic tragedy with an ending that tries to gloss it all over.
