The Father (2020)
Moving and original
The Father; the film ends and the cinema auditorium is silent, a very sombre atmosphere. That's because it's an extremely emotional film, I didn't cry in the cinema but I did when I was alone in my car. Anthony Hopkins is incredible, as is Olivia Colman and the supporting cast including Olivia Williams and Mark Gatiss.
It's a disorientating film, hard to know when one scene ends and another starts. Often there is repetition of the same dialogue, altered through slight changes in setting and major changes in character as seen through the eyes and mind of the father. I'd say it's one of the most original films I've seen, in terms of its structure, both in the way the story is told and how the audience along with the father is unsure of who's who. It very much reminded me of Michael Haneke's, Amour, in places, especially the inner city grandiose setting of the flat. Florian Zeller is the director, who also wrote the screenplay from the play the film is based on, which Zeller also wrote.
Grand Theft Auto III (2001)
The best game ever
A game of epic change, so fun.
The driving is fantastic, I'll happily do taxi missions for an hour.
Wuthering Heights (2011)
A beautifully shot film, ruined by animal cruelty
A snared rabbit, dogs hung by their collars. There's no excuse for this to be depicted on film. A good film, which turned into a travesty due to the cast and crew's lack of respect for animal welfare.
