Zorro (2024)
An excellent reinvention of Zorro
The serialized storyline makes for an engaging and suspenseful narrative. The characters are well developed and very likeable. The tone of the show is well balanced between light-hearted and serious, even though this show is darker than the classic Disney Zorro show. In terms of production design and visual effects, the show looks incredible. The action scenes are varied and brilliant. The casting and performances are excellent. While the show is originally in Spanish, the English dub is also great. This show is an incredible reboot of the Zorro franchise and just a great show in general. This show is a perfect template for how to successfully reimagine a franchise while also being faithful to it's roots.
Aladdin (1994)
A forgotten diamond in the rough
This show both feels in continuity with the films( set between "Return of Jafar and King of Theives"), while also being accessible to general audiences. The stories are creative and the characters get fleshed out in new ways, while also having fun action and laughs. The animation is very good for the time and the cast are brilliant, especially, Dan Castellaneta, who manages to fill the shoes of Robin William's.
However, the show often gets cheesy, doesn't have much emotional depth and gets too silly at times.
This show deserves way more attention, especially since despite it's popularity, it's not available on Disney Plus.
A very good show for all age's.
Stargirl (2020)
A great show that ended way too soon.
For the first 2 Seasons, Stargirl is excellent, due to character development, adaptation of the source material, action scenes and performances. While there are some issues with the writing and occasional lack of action, these seasons manage to be great overall.
However, in my opinion, Season 3 took a huge drop in quality. There were serious issues with the pacing, lack of action, plot elements and character decisions. While Season 3 has it's moments, such as the action, character moments and concepts, Season 3 is pretty bad and it's shame that it had to be the shows final season.
Stargirl (Only Seasons 1 and 2) are highly recommended.
A Christmas Story (1983)
A Christmas Film unlike any other
A well paced plot, memorable characters, great comedy and a warm tone that perfectly captures the heart of the holidays. It is innocent, but also darkly realistic when it needs to be, so it never becomes cheesy. However the black comedy never goes far enough to become mean spirited. It manages to strike the perfect balance. Anyone of any age can enjoy this master piece that stands apart from other classics like Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th street etc
