Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
This movie represents the kind of studio programming that Hollywood made in the 80s, 90s and even the 00s
Bring back movies like Crimson Tide, Gladiator. Forrest Gump, The Right Stuff, E. T. and The Untouchables!
Moreover, there is a need for Hollywood to have stars like Tom Cruise and the writers, producers, directors and Hollywood Executives to make such movies.
Fresh Off the Boat: Commencement (2020)
ABC's GROUNDBREAKING FAMILY SITCOM HAS COME TO AN END!
Commencement was everything I wanted from the series finale of Fresh off the Boat. Heart-warming and it bowed out with the understated grace that represented most of its run.
It was more nuanced in its look at the past, not glorifying or rhapsodizing over the simpler times but finding honest stories and sharp critiques of a time period that feels like far more than a few decades ago.
Fresh Off the Boat is a watershed moment for representation and inclusive storytelling. This sparked a movement that still manages to strive ahead, as we see more Asian American faces and other representations of marginalized voices on TV and film.
Joining the ranks of other great family sitcoms in the like of The Cosby Show, The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, Family Ties, Roseanne and yes...Modern Family which also end this year! Fresh off the Boat is the best family sitcom after Modern Family to air this decade because its stories are genuine and heartfelt, something which other family sitcoms have either managed to do but have hit rock bottom (e.g. Black-ish) OR they are shows which are derivative of PAST network sitcoms (e.g. The Goldbergs, Speechless). But most of all, it was groundbreaking in terms of representation and that is what sets it apart, apart from being just a really funny sitcom!
Toy Story 4 (2019)
A Pleasant Surprise.
I am still torn as to whether I wanted this movie or not. I still think that Toy Story 3 was probably a narrative end that had no means of continuing the story. But lo and behold, we have another one. Toy Story 4 suffers because of some choices made at the end of Toy Story 3. Allow me to explain, Andy's toys should never have been donated in the first place to Bonnie because she never wanted them! And so now we have a situation where Woody is sidelined and not played with and his badge is stripped off and given to Jessie. What the hell man!! Really, I mean way to overdo the whole women power thing. I just thought that it was quite literally jumping the shark. Also, Gabby Gabby was promoting socialism. I can't believe it. I mean, I have to give credit to Pixar for introducing such a complex topic in an animated movie but then again, it was more like promoting it. to kids! I just can't take my mind off of that scene. However, the reason this movie is a pleasant surprise is because the new additions to the story especially bunny and ducky are absolutely amazing. Their interactions and humor infused dialogues bring such fresh air that I can almost overlook the egregiously bad things that happen in this movie. Another welcome change is Bo peep's character. I thought she was brilliant in the way her character arc titled towards becoming a lost toy. Her leadership skills though, need work and then the ending, which oh my god, is again questionable. So let's not go there. But overall, the movie is ok and worth watching AT LEAST ONCE.
The Good Doctor: Mount Rushmore (2017)
ABC's The Good Doctor just went one step further into medical complications that I have never seen Grey's Anatomy gone before.
This show has managed to touch me in ways that few shows do in their second episode leave alone the first season
SPOILERS AHEAD
I loved the way they narrated the scene where Shaun and the parents of the girl were taking her to the hospital and at the same time in the past Shaun was carrying his brother to a Hospital. It was just so perfectly edited and written. It was the high point of the episode and I absolutely loved it.
END OF SPOILERS
I think this episode was an excellent build-up from the premiere and now I am absolutely certain that this show is going to reach great heights in terms of dramatic tension. The first episode was about to make me cry and this one went one step further.
The Gifted: eXposed (2017)
A Good start for a series that will likely slay the competition against NETFLIX
The premiere episode was far from perfect. It lost me a little bit during some moments in the episode. But, the good parts made up for it
********************SPOLIERS**************************************** ***
Like when Reed and Caitlin are in a conversation when the kids are sleeping. I just found that unnecessary and poorly written. The sentinel chasing was not exactly an adrenaline rush until the final moment which PAID OFF! and set the tone for the show. The most compelling aspect I found was Lauren's boyfriend and the whole high- school bullying aspect. It definitely added layers and made the show more relatable.

Should you watch it ? I guess you can to see if you find it compelling Should you continue for those who have watched the premiere? I think you should, to see where the show goes after that cliffhanger and how it develops because it has a lot of potential, trust me.
The Good Doctor (2017)
and the question everyone dares ask
Is the Show any good?
Yes it is
Is it great
Almost...and that does not mean you wait for it to be great and then tune in. Start watching now because it difinitely packs a lot of punch. The show 'is' going to be great. There's no question about that.
It has all of the ingrdients for a great show. It definitely raises the bar and it definitely.......duh----livers.
Gotham: A Dark Knight: Pax Penguina (2017)
The only show I am ready to invest my time and energy into
A good premiere. I really really like the humour and the writing that this show has. It has definitely improved since the earlier seasons. While other shows usually see a dip in quality after being 4 seasons in. Gotham shows no signs of fatigue. Its only GROWING STRONGER!
Ill give this episode a 90% approval rating.
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
I have to put it in my BEST SHOWS OF THE DECADE ALONG WITH - THE Americans, GAME OF THRONES, THE LEFTOVERS & JUSTIFIED
Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale is a beautiful surprise. The scene that sold me to this show was in the first episode - 'Offred'. I do not want to spoil that but when you watch it, you will agree with me that it is clearly a masterfully directed piece of art. (SHOUT OUT TO REED MORANO) This show IS GREAT! Honestly, I am not overrating the show but it truly is a must-see show that I hope will continue to climb up to its greatness. People who gave it a negative review clearly felt it HIT TOO CLOSE TO REALITY! Well they will have to deal with it.
Watch all 10 episodes and you will not regret even a single second of it. It deservedly won 8 Primetime Emmy Awards and I hope the critics also think the same about the show!!!
Feud (2017)
Every single aspect is just magnificent; from the acting and the directing to the brilliant writing
**SPOILERS*** One of my favorite scenes in the show is when Joan realizes that she and Bette could have been friends and how they always fantasized about it. It is so heartbreaking which only goes on to show how PERFECT the acting is on the show. UNBELIEVABLE! ******************************************* I recommend this show to anyone who just loves and adores period dramas or stories about Hollywood or even just great acting. If you get through the first episode trust me you will want to watch the ENTIRE THING IN ONE SITTING! It's just that DAMN GOOD and ADDICTIVE! and hey it's already been nominated for 15 deserving EMMY nominations. So see what I am talking about - even the television academy has recognized the sheer brilliance of this show. Don't hesitate go and watch the show!
