Unconformity (2022)
Great Niche Film - Had a Lifetime Network Vibe
Few films are centered around geology and PhD dissertations. For individuals who appreciate rocks, the struggles of graduate work, mixed with a little romance & desert landscapes - this movie is a must watch. For many others, the pace & storyline won't be enough to keep them from changing the channel.
For a small budget film, the camera work and editing is excellent. While the script is average, the acting is very nicely done.
When comparing this movie to others in its class, I give it a 7. Overall, I think a 6 for '2022/2021 Dramas' is generous.
Black Bird (2022)
Emmy for Paul Walter Hauser or GTFO
In response to above Reddit Post under r/blackbirdappletv:
Oh man - SO glad your thread popped up when searching "Emmy Paul Walter Hauser". His performance is incredible in Black Bird. But it's S1 Episode 6 with the map in the wood shop that sent me online with this search. Holy Cow! I haven't seen a moment that's as terrifying, raw & REAL in ages...maybe ever. This is some sicko, psycho, revolting stuff. If he doesn't get the Emmy for this performance, it will be because he was too good. The performance & range of emotions his character evokes from viewers may make it hard for some (voters) to separate PWH from this sick character.
