Om Shanti Om (2007)
All because of SRK
If this movie does become a hit it can only be because of 2 prime reasons..1 because of SRK..or because of the immense hype n rivalry over the Diwali release...i went for d 1st day 1st show..n den saw Saawariya after tat..n i seriously could not decide which was worse.. Nevertheless, SRK is still the king khan..he can step into any shoes.he can do justice to any character..both the versions of OM in this movie..well in short..amazing acting by SRK..He still rules..Arjun Rampal..a good job..well portrayed role..a bad boy producer...succumbing to money..Shreyas Talpade is growing after every of his movie... n last but not the least Deepika Padukone is looking as pretty as possible..her dresses her hairstyle...though she mite be lacking a bit on the acting side...well lets c what happens to her.. The Story line was predictable of Sorts..i have seen an English movie..based on a similar line..but i cant really recollect at the moment. the 70's was extremely well portrayed..a thumbs up to Karan Johar n Manish Malhotra...Farah Khan..a decent enough debut..good job..lovely sets...decent movie altogether..but everyone was expecting more..
Saawariya (2007)
Immense Style
Sanjay Leela Bansali is no doubt one the most profound directors we have in bollywood today..but did he actually deliver with his movie this time, is a question that is going to need a lot of thought... His style is out of this world..the bridges...the buildings..the dark alleys..the water..everything was just perfect and could not be better..his presentation is in a class of its own.. Ranbir Kapoor..well the show must go on..n so will he..a good role..a good character..n he played it well..n he can dance too...great debut..he couldn't have hoped for more.. Sonam kapoor looks pretty..who could imagine that this young lady weighed at 90 kgs at a point of time...her character wasn't that strong..it really didn't need much..this the best she could have done..but at the end of the movie there is still something missing about her..don't really know what.. Salman Khan has one really short guest appearance in this movie.. Rani Mukherjee..one of the finest actresses in the country..n even with a screen time of negligible amount..she showed us why she is so great...good music..but too many songs...i feel that way... i guess this movie wont be that big a hit..because its simply not a movie for the masses..more of a movie a critic would like.. Zhora Saigal...she is really charming..as always...
Heyy Babyy (2007)
hey babyyyyyyyyy??
Just in case you were wondering, this is rhetorical question.
Before I entered the auditorium, I knew what I was about to watch. I knew what exactly I was in for.
This summer, bollywood, hasn't really given us much, apart from a nice experience here and there. But Hey Babyy gave us a lot. Laughter all around, except in bits. The sad outlook on the near loss of an infant's life. Boys doing their usual stupid stuff and blaming girls over and over and over again.
But something that this movie proved was that, Sajid Khan can surely make people laugh off-screen as well. The brother sister duo is simply amazing. The title track was HOT, no matter what anybody has to say about it.
But one thing I did not understand was that, what the hell was SRK doing in the movie, and was he even looking his best (or even close to it, for that matter). I spoke this die-hard SRK fan friend of mine and she was like, what has he done to his hair. Even then, SRK will always be SRK.
Akshay Kumar is his usual charming funny guy. If he was funny so were Ritesh Deshmuk and Fardeen Khan. The three buddies. More like an entourage. Doing what they are good at. But the moment of realization soon comes for them, and they surely do learn their lesson. Boman Irani is a funny guy. But I believe he was trying too hard here. Vidya Balan is the usual pretty self that she is. Her role wasn't that intense, but she did whatever she could.
On a broader scale, this movie should be watched, certainly by guys like, who are out clubbing for THE certain same reason at times. Statutory Warning: I'm so sure this movie busted your stress
.
Zodiac (2007)
...To be remembered...
Many people knew what the Zodiac killer was all about but none of us know who he is/was and never will.
Without a doubt, a majority of people who have watched this film will think that this is the best Hollywood has offered this year...'YET'...The reason as to why I'm saying that this movie will be remembered is because David Fincher managed to keep the sense of mystery alive throughout the movie. The same way he did it in THE GAME and PANIC ROOM. Very few directors manage to end up doing exactly that.
This film is by far Mark Ruffalo's finest work I have seen. Movies like 13 going on 30 and Just Like Heaven weren't even close. Gyllenhall has done a good job as usual. It was totally expected from him. However, Robert Downey Jr. was the ultimate package. He has always been underrated and I hope that this movie proves him other wise. He certainly stole every scene he was in this movie.
This movie is not about the killings. It is about the pursuit of the killer. The killings were no doubt appalling in real life but the manner in which the killer(s) were never caught is as intriguing.
The greatest accomplishment of this movie was that it did not leave any loopholes and there were not much questions asked at the end of the movie. Everybody now knows what had happened. Nonetheless, this movie is will certainly inspire you to read Graysmith's book, if you have not already. This movie will certainly inspire you to follow up on the entire zodiac killer legend.
