An Improvement, But Still Isn't Good
31 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At first, I had a big expectation for this movie upon watching the second trailer since the previous and first installment in the BCU, Gundala was pretty disappointing in a lot of aspects and it seems they only learned a little for making this film.

Okay, sure this time they put in more action scenes, more & better VFX. But UNFORTUNATELY the fights scenes are REALLY painful to watch, especially the fight between Alana and Roh Setan's henchmen.

Every punch they throw in this film looks slow, choreographed, and almost has no impact. A lot of the bad guy's henchmen brought guns, but either they never used a firearms before or they just forgot to load any bullets to it since probably there are only 5% of shots in this film actually hits the target, such a garbage directing.

Now the VFX, I would say most VFX in this films were just an "okay", not bad but not good either, just in between. The VFX only looks good for Roh Setan when he turns to his smoke form.

For the casting... I feel like Bumilangit only wants to recruit big actors & actress to their films not for their skills in acting or even actions scenes, but solely for their big names in the media thinking people would watch their films because they have all these big names lineup.

Shin Ultraman (2022)

A Love Letter for The Fans But Still Need More Improvements
14 October 2022
After waiting for more than 5 months waiting for an international release, finally here it is, Shin Ultraman, and a review of it.

Shin Ultraman starts with a really great introduction to its universe, the problem they're facing, human characters, and our hero Ultraman himself.

The introduction is short but the director succeed at showing the audience everything in less than 2 minutes, even for the people who have never see Ultra-Q or the original Ultraman series can understand it very well.

The film pacing feels great up until the end of the first phase. All of a sudden the plot became very rushed and it feels like some elements from the original series are cramped into the script only to please the fans who have seen it.

CGI was an OK, still need a lot of work in some scenes, especially with the motion of the characters, but the rest are just acceptable.

I believe it will be a much better film is the duration is at least 20 minutes longer.

Conclusion: For the fans of old era's Tokusatsu, especially Ultra series will undoubtedly love this film with all of its references, but for those who's not a fan will probably struggle to reach the end of the film~

A New Experience of Watching One Piece
24 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
One Piece is always known as an action anime that focus on story, world building, and of course, intense fight sequence. But this time I appreciate Toei for trying something new in the franchise, a "musical film". When a lot of people are complaining for too many songs were featured in this film, I don't mind them at all. Remember that singing is the way Uta can activate her power and also her main element as a character. Not to mention, Ado's songs are really catchy and memorable especially with theaters' speakers.

The plot sure was nothing special, and also Uta's motivation as a villain wasn't really well written.

I don't get the hates this series received
13 July 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Just like other people, I also thought that this going to be another terrible Disney+ shows and I had a little expectation to this show especially after the slow introduction we got in the first 2 episodes, but I changed my mind after the 3rd episode afterwards.

The writing, the connection between characters, they're all became really good. I also love the "cringy" stuff they put to represent the Gen Z teenagers, I mean they're all still a bunch of teenagers and no different from what we see in our life. The way they features a lot of Pakistani's cultures really made this the most unique MCU content so far, personally.

But one thing I probably want to complain is the way this show represent the Muslim's culture. As a Muslim myself, some stuff feel hit and miss. For example, the way Nakia wears her scarf, one scene where they're doing prayers in the mosque and not wearing the proper praying clothes for women, and.... this is probably for a comedic value but the scene where Kamala and Nakia taking the wudhu really made me say "what are they even doing here?", and also the wedding scene is just not it. I don't know if the director or writer really have no idea or these are Muslim's culture in the US.

Overall, this show could've been much better in every aspects besides what I've mentioned above. And.... did they just introduced the X-Men to the MCU now?! Can't wait to see more of Kamala in The Marvels especially after the post credit scene. Yay.

Still (not really) worth to watch
7 July 2022
I'm starting to feel the MCU really lost it in writing a decent plot for their theatrically released products after Endgame. I would say Marvel knew they has a lot of loyal fans so they wouldn't bother to write a decent plot for their films anymore because they knew people would still watch their films no matter how bad they are going to be.

Visually, the film was really great alongside with the scoring. While the characters and the story line felt very rushed since the first phase of the film, should've been extend the duration to avoid those problems. Unnecessary jokes also ruined some good moments for me throughout the film.

Marvel's CGI quality has been getting worse and worse since Black Widow released (excluding Eternals), and Thor: Love and Thunder has the worst CGI quality so far, on par with No Way Home.

A disgrace to the franchise
20 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The first Pacific Rim film that came out in 2013 was revolutionary. Giant robots against giant monsters? We've never seen that before in the Western's cinema. It feels realistic, you can feel how heavy the Jaegers moves and this movie make them like they're weight 500 Kg. In the first film, we saw that even adult pilots are struggling fighting against the kaijus and somehow in this film, bunch of teenagers think can defeat them.

Also, the director really tryhard to make the final battle looks cool by unnecessarily making the Jaegers destroying some more buildings, adding more destructions and perhaps casualties.

Not For Everyone
11 March 2022
Fastest 3 hours of my life and this movie ended like 3 times and it still keep going. Totally enjoyable and doesn't feel too long at all like critics said. The characterization of Batman as the world's greatest detective is totally spot on. This is an absolute definitive Batman film. Dark, gritty, focusing more on his detective skills as he is the world's greatest detective.

Pure Fun & Action-Packed!
31 March 2021
This film is surprisingly good for me,visual effects looks good even though there are still some parts where the effects looks kinda cartoony.

For the storyline....ehhh WE DON'T need a storyline in a movie where a giant atomic lizard fighting againts a giant monkey from prehistoric island.

The only thing that bother me is the DURATION is way too SHORT that makes the movie way too rushed.

DISSAPOINTED
11 August 2020
I'm a big Tokusatsu fans since i was a little kid, watching Ultraman,Kamen Rider or Super Sentai, but Kamen Rider always have a special place in my heart. The first time I saw the trailer of this movie I was REALLY REALLY hyped to see it especially when the movie was announced to be released in my country too. But I guess my expectation for this movie is way too high,I thought this movie would be the "Avengers Endgame" of Kamen Rider franchise, here are the reasons why I don't like it as a movie to end the Heisei era of Kamen Rider:

-Really really bad looking CGI. Oh man,you wouldn't believe how bad the CGI in this movie were compared to the previous Kamen Rider series and movie,I don't even know why Toei's CGI went really downgrade in this movie. Another Kuuga supposed to look strong and scary but they make it looks like a PS2 video game character, the CGI for Zi-O's & Geiz's Time Mazine are also bad. -Rushed plot and forced storyline. I never know the reason why Tokusatsu movie duration is only around 1 hour and never actually reached 2 hours or even more. They could make a better plot and better storyline if only the duration is much longer. -The Kamen Rider feels soulless, they don't speak, they don't act like the character they supposed to be in the series. More like a robot with Kamen Rider suits

Nonetheless, this is still a good movie for Tokusatsu fans looking for a crossover kamen rider movie, just don't put too much expectation on it.

A brand new genre for the Indonesian film industries.
1 September 2019
A fantastic opening for a brand new superhero cinematic universe for Indonesia. The CGI looks really good even though some of them still looks fake. I also love the horror elements that the director put into this movie. Don't leave your seat because there is one unexpected post credit scene.
