Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Transformational Movie - Fans, Fantasy lovers will Enjoy
Transformers Unite! For Transformers fans this is a MUST SEE movie. It fills the story line of the Transformers past, the feud, and more.
For the rest of us, its a great kids and a good adult movie that will work much better on the big screen than the little one. Story line is B+ because of the history and a lot of really good one-liners. Acting is B - kind of limited roles, but Megan Fox adds a lot of depth - Nice job and thanx for looking so good! Special effects - A+ the computer graphics are really amazing, and Great new Transformers on both sides. Cinematography and camera work is wonderful, although the spinning camera shots are a bit over done.
There is a 'shard' of a chance for a third one.
A solid 8/10. Definitely a must see on the big screen to appreciate the amazing amount of detail in every Transformer.
Wild Hogs (2007)
Middle aged Witty Humor at it's Finest
I went to see this movie not expecting a whole lot. Boy what a pleasant surprise!
The basic plot of a bunch of friends having mid-life crisis and taking action is the frame work. But, boy oh boy, did they dress it up!
The first few minutes introduces us to the characters in a short but effective manor. The next 2/3 of the script is written in the same manor as 'Six Sense'. Every line has multiple meanings and they worked hard to make it work both ways. We were in stitches!
They round it off in typical Hollywood style - unbelievable ending - but they make it work and the message is loud and clear.
The humor reaches those aged early teens on up (definately aimed at middle aged America). Younger viewers won't understand it all, but there is enough slap stick to keep them entertained.
Great Family Film!
The Break-Up (2006)
The Breakup of a good idea
The basic premise of this film could have been vehicle for a thousand gags and one liners. However, this film tries to take itself a little too seriously for being touted as a comedy. There is some funny shtick buried in this film, but it is spread way too thin to be called a comedy. It does have a chance to redeem itself in the romantic category right up to the end, but literally turns its back on what the audience is expecting - No happy ending. As a result it turns a great premise into a dark comedy and reflects a sad slice of life. Instead of a dark successful comedy like 'War of the Roses', we end up with a film that falls flat. My guess is that the director tried to please everyone with this film instead of following his vision of what the film should be. The resulting film will end up doing poorly even as a DVD rental.
Red Eye (2005)
Surprisingly a good, quick moving story
Ho-hum. Another airline tragedy movie. You couldn't be more wrong. What I thought would turn out to be a formula driven,, worn out plot was surprisingly fresh. Several twists and turns kept you riveted in your seat. I couldn't even take a break for more popcorn!
Without giving the story plot completely away, Our heroine is the only one who can set up a murder. A terrorist has followed her for months to learn her every move. To learn what matters most to her and how she can be manipulated to deliver the target right into the terrorist's hands.
Writing was fresh - 8. Acting - 8. Sets - 5, Adequate but nothing special. Special effects - 8, with one scene in particular. Story line/Plot - 9, although slightly formula driven but only enough to give you a clue as to what might happen.
Overall a plausible movie plot, with fresh twists and turns... A bit short at under 1 1/2hours, but a great date flick.
Enjoy in the theater or wait for it to come to TV. At only 1 1/2 hours its a prime time TV movie just waiting to cool off in the theaters.
