Barry: 710N (2022) Season 3, Episode 6

3 concerns I have with Season3 so far:

Let me be clear, I love this show, but I have 3 issues with how this season is going.

1. Where is Barry? We love Hank and Sally from their interactions with Barry. Seeing their own side stories is much less entertaining, especially for Sally. I hope her "female in the industry" storyline actually ends up tying in with the main storyline because right now it's not.

2. I am growing increasingly concerned with how Barry the character is being written this season. Ever since the Barry the "abuser" narrative started, Barry's character has become dumb. Because of this his character is growing more and more unlikeable. It's as if this woke narrative has taken over the entire series, telling the audience you're not allowed to root for him anymore since he's a killer when the show did the opposite thing before.

3. TOO MANY PEOPLE. It feels as if a new character is introduced each episode or an old one is brought back all of a sudden that we barely remember. This shifts the focus from the people we actually like like Winkler and Hader taking away from what we love about this show: great characters.

I will continue watching but hope these problems are resolved.

Yellowstone (2018– )

Way overrated.

This does not compare to the top shows on TV now like succession, and is certainly not a western masterpiece. The characters are downright stupid. "Beth" (Kelly Reilly) is unbearable, and gives a performance that is so annoying it ruins the entire show. Why does he hate Jamie so much? It is not an interesting narrative. Kevin Costner is listless and boring. The only saving grace is Luke Grimes who plays a somewhat compelling character, but after 2 seasons I gave up. So much is left unexplained and the episodes often follow bad storylines. I don't get why everyone loves this show. It's just ok.

Yellowstone: Sins of the Father (2019) Season 2, Episode 10

What was the point of the Beck brothers?

The Beck brothers barely developed as characters in this show, and turned out to be weak and stupid enemies that were easy to take down. John Dutton had to received zero actual consequences from fighting them and barely collaborated with Jenkins and the Indigenous guy. Overall, this show is way overhyped.

Yellowjackets (2021– )

I watched them all in a row and it was great

Yellowjackets is an awesome show. One of the major complaints that people have is that it moves to slowly. I watched one a day after the season aired and didn't notice anything until I read reviews. If you're reading my review now, it means you have the opportunity to binge it. Definitely do it. Performances are great, writing is clever and engaging. There is no forced political correctness, all the characters feel genuine and even the ones you think you'll hate turn out to be likeable!

Dexter: New Blood: Sins of the Father (2022) Season 1, Episode 10

It was never going to measure up to original

It was predictable from the start, and that's okay. But it's the journey that matters. As much as Showtime may believe this was a stand alone series, Dexter is a franchise that started over a decade ago. Fans find comfort in the familiarity of Dexter, Deb, and the old cast because we grew up with them. They were in our lives for years. This is why despite how good of a performance Jack Alcott, Julia Jones, and Clancy Brown could give, fans would never be satisfied with New Blood's inevitable ending. I have a lot of complaints with New Blood, but it ultimately boils down to this for me. The journey Showtime could bring us on in 10 episodes will never trump a period of our lives defined by Dexter, Deb, Rita, Masuka and the gang. I accept that. But it doesn't make it any easier to see this period of our lives drastically altered by characters we were only introduced to 10 weeks ago.

This is a MUCH worse version of Dexter. This was even admitted on a podcast by director Marco Siega who directed both shows. Stop watching this trash and watch Dexter season 1-4 instead. Good day.

Dexter: New Blood (2021–2022)

So far it's on Season 1-4 level

It's great so far. Intriguing characters as well as storylines that bring back the old Dexter we didn't see in the latter half of the show. The one reason it's not a 10/10 is Deb. She's so unnecessary and annoying. I never thought her character was that complex before. She relies completely depends on Dexter the entire series, so it makes no sense to have her be giving advice to Dex. Harry worked better as the dark passenger.

The last great late night host has retired. Someone who always chased creativity and originality in his comedy over making the easy political joke like Colbert or wasting time playing games with celebrities like Fallon. Conan will be missed!

Master of None (2015–2021)

*Season 3 Review*

Heading into Season 3 of Master of None, Aziz Ansari warned audiences to not only prepare for a shift in narrative, but also genre. As a viewer, I liked the first 2 seasons so much that I kept an open mind. However, it quickly became clear after the first episode that everything that made Master of None stand out before was lost in the creative shift to Moments in Love. The clever and topical writing that examined modern life in a comedic way (which was the heart and soul of the show before) is now absent in season 3. Instead, Ansari shifted all of his creative focus to achieving a more close, and intimate style of shooting. Prolonged shots of Denise and Alicia either apart or together in visually striking settings take up the majority of each episode's time. While sometimes this directorial choice does pay off, for the most part these scenes feel dispensable. This is largely due to the fact that the audience does not know Alicia well enough to care about her and appreciate these moments. The same goes for Denise, who is now unmotivated and listless. Overall, Moments in Love is okay and still watchable, but saying this feels wrong when knowing the show could be so much more. The.

Dexter: The Big One (2010) Season 5, Episode 12

Solid finale to an underwhelming season

I did not feel like Jordan Chase was a worthy adversary for Dexter. Lumen was okay, but not as good as Julie Benz. There was some great acting in this season, however it lacked the same intrigue as 1,2,3,4.

Dexter: The Getaway (2009) Season 4, Episode 12

Not your average season finale

For the past 3 season finales, Dexter has ended up in a happy place. He's killed the main threat of the season, then goes home and kisses his wife Rita and spends happy time with the Family. As a viewer, you can be perfectly satisfied watching this same loop over and over at the end of each season. That's why making the choice to kill Rita is simultaneously heartbreaking and amazing. This shows true intelligence from the writers. They are willing to push the envelope even when they have a winning formula. Can't wait to watch season 5, and RIP Rita. Julie Benz was great and will be missed!

The Intouchables (2011)

One of the best films I've ever seen

As a film student I watch hundreds of films a year. This is by far one of the most memorable. I've now seen it around 5 times and after analyzing it each time I come to the conclusion that it's a nearly perfect film. The cinematography is fantastic right from the start, the writing is clever and engaging and the acting is superb. Everyone was casted perfectly and I could not picture anyone else to play the role (including Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston). This is a wonderful work of art I highly recommend you watch.
