Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
The little girl
Why do people hate the little girl. Wanting her to be spanked to tears? What is the matter with you people? If you hate the show: do not watch it and don't give us so much hate towards a girl of 10. She is doing great. I am getting sick and tired of all the wannabee directors and scriptwriters. This was a nice old fashioned episode of Star Wars with great action and visuals. Giving this show an "1 " tells us more about the reviewer than about a great team of talented people making this show.
Star Trek: Picard: Monsters (2022)
Great story and fine acting
It is always a feast to see Patrick Steward acting. He is the best. The strange story during the coma of Picard is just fine fantasy woven into Scifi. It is written by a woman. (I only review stuff I like and would not have any satisfaction onto handing out a "1" for a show a whole team of people work hard for)
Blade Runner: Black Lotus (2021)
Nice
I am of an age old enough to have seen the first movie in the cinema. I really liked the story, the animation and the total look and feel.
The show really connects to the Bladerunner Universe.. I wonder every time about reviewers who show hate and disgust about movies or shows that are made with obvious talent, craftmanship and attention. In this show it is really the case. Btw: I only review stuff that I like 😊 and stay away from boring stuff.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Larry Niven's Ringworld
I liked this episode very much. So why all the fuzz that this is not The Book of..? I was stunned to see the Mandalorian enter Larry Niven's Ringworld. Obvious not known by many of the contributors, I spotted only one. So where are all the real scifi fans? And who cares whether this episode fits in the Book of Boba Fett?
This episode is great science fiction, and the reverence to the Ringworld of Larry Niven, one of Science Fiction best writers, is simply heart warming. Mr. Favreau: a great job! And so did Mrs. Howard.
Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Adrienne Barbeau
Loved to see Adrienne here. She is still gorgeous! I can say that at being 75 :). I don like how the one- or two-ers still come up with their criticism! It may all not be on par with the original anime, but I do not care. The show has a fantastic design: I saw even a crt-monitor: a great idea! It is obvious a pastiche of the anime, but very well done. Al the acting is just fine and John Cho is great. Must force myself not to binge-watch. Every episode is worth looking twice.
Debris: Celestial Body (2021)
Hope to see a next season
But I am afraid that that is not going to be..the case. This show is full of real people in a fascinating story. It will follow Flash Forward, Caprica, Firefly...etc. Etc..Goodbye dear ones..
Edit:
Thank you all for the cancelation. Zombie series go on for ever. Another promising show ended.
Debris: Asalah (2021)
Never mind the beard people
Beard not OK? No, it is just like a real Taliban beard. Some American soldiers had it to blend in. Maybe, just maybe, a little to neat, I don't care. Google search for Taliban beard. This episode showed again the capable acting of the main characters. And: compare the fine action scene with the nonsense in Without Remorse..
Debris: I Am Icarus (2021)
Keep this going.
I liked the use off the word "pannenkoek", which is Dutch for some pancake; at about 29 minutes. 😊. But the best is really that we see actors that actually look like and act like normal people. No Brat Pits here.. Especially the new girl (Jessica McLeod) is stunning in her appearance , chapeau! Keep this weird story going folks!
Debris: Do You Know Icarus? (2021)
SCIFI at its best in an underrated series
This series is getting better and better. It is great SF. I don't care that there are some discrepancies, I can live with that. The narrative unfolds like a puzzle, and that is great fun. Looking forward to the next episode!
Debris: Spaceman (2021)
this is getting tedious
I like this series. Why are all te haters so hatefull? I kind of like the main protagonists ( yes I follow the hollywood descriptions). This is solid action and a spledid example of not telling the whole story direct. Love it. And Jonathan Tucker is doing a great job! We wil not see a sequel i fear., thanks to all the wannabee script writers, but who knows??? Greetings from afar,,
Debris: You Can Call Her Caroline (2021)
I am a supporter
This episode had a lot of tension. And no I am not a bot. Giving this series a "!" Is an insult to the effort and talent of all the people involved.
Debris: You Are Not Alone (2021)
Great modern Scifi
Why are the haters hitting on this show? It is not for those who don't like mysteries and strange things. I like the chemistry developing between the main characters. The story eh narrative is fascinating and unpredictable. There is modern diversity and inclusiveness, we don't see that often.
I am looking forward to see the next episode.
Debris: Pilot (2021)
a different Stalker
The premise reminded me of Tarkovki's Stalker (1979), one of the best Sci-Fi films ever made and the book Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers. The 1918 movie Annihilation is somewhat about the same theme. But this show is a bit "harder" on the science fiction. Not everything is directly revealed about the spaceship and its origins and that is just great storytelling.
I liked the slow development of this episode. The narrative is intriguing and a challenge to one's own imagination. The acting is just fine, but hopefully we see some more character development. I am curious where this is going. I just hope that this show is staying here for some time. Give it a break people.
The Mandalorian: Chapter 13: The Jedi (2020)
Monumental
What can I say? Stunning episode that pushed al the right buttons. A man with a cowboy hat you wouldn't notice passing you by on the street; one of a couple of architects of a sci-fi series to be remembered for years to come. Keep it coming friends.
And Dawson IS the character she plays...!
Star Trek: Discovery: Forget Me Not (2020)
How fitting for your dark times
This episode is may be somewhat "cheesy", but is very fitting to what is happening in your country right now. You all could use some more togetherness, some more respect for different views on life, race and opinions. From across the ocean ( the Netherlands here) things are not looking pretty. I hope you all come to your senses and keep your country great, like it always was and always will be. I am sure that that will happen!
And: I don't care who wins..
Sorry for my mediocre English...
Helstrom (2020)
I liked it, but a nun with lipstick??
Decent show, good to bingewatch etc. Overal nice and a decent mix of actors with different background. But a nun ( I think it is a nun? I am not shure) with visible makeup? Haha
Stella Blómkvist (2017)
How a small Country can make entertaining TV
She does everything wrong: as a young lady smoking in public places, drinking (rather expensive in Iceland) whisky, getting herself in every impossible situation you can think of. The openings scene is not for children or for very prudent people. But if you are neither you will love Stella Blomkvist. Watch it, you get your moneys worth. I hope there will be a second season!
Star Wars Rebels: Family Reunion - and Farewell (2018)
Loved this Episode
I totally forgot, while watching, that this is an animated (movie/ film/ episode whatever). I had to hold back tears / emotion at the end. Beautiful. stunning; georg... and danmi.. have described it much better than I can. But yes- this is what the saga is all about. Action!, Emotion, Heroism, and a solid entertaining story. Thank you Cast & Crew! Keep up the good work. Who needs the big screen? Or maybe an animated movie for it?
Star Trek: Discovery: What's Past Is Prologue (2018)
Loved it
Fellow reviewer purplepiwis is right: this ST-D is growing and growing! It is now, it is here, and it is what I like in modern day Space opera. And mind you: I am in my proud seventies, and have been an aficionado from the start here in the Netherlands. I got Netflix for a period of time just for this and I am not disappointed. I hope the second season will come though. But I would like most of all a real new series after all the old stuff, so even after VOY.
Star Trek: Discovery: Into the Forest I Go (2017)
This is it
I watched this episode with awe. Great CGI, great acting and a wonderful crafted script/story. And a nice cliffhanger as an extra. I am a bit sad about the negative reviews-I hope it does not mean that this show is going to be canceled like so many other great SF shows. Not many people like this kind of hard SciFy. I also like the Orville, but that is a whole different story...
Star Trek: Discovery: Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad (2017)
Enjoyable episode
I was not planning to come here again, but the haters make me do it. This was just another fine episode, it is getting better all the time. I do not understand why the haters go in such long analyses to explain what they do not like about the show. Again: if you don't like it, stay away and let us enjoy it all. Great actors here! Special Kudos to one of its revelations: Anthony Rapp. He is awesome!
Star Trek: Discovery: Lethe (2017)
Nice going STD!
This episode really touched me. I just sit and enjoy the story and watched it again. Nice twists and turns and good acting. Al characters are spot on and play their part very well. The CGI helps, fine artists came up with a stunning design. There was also real emotion here. Particularly the moment when Michael was asked to join the crew gave me the shivers. (sorry for my bad and "corny" English, but that is what I felt and I am a sentimental person). By the way, I also like to read the great negative reviews. I read that I am a bot, nice. I read that the not so obeying attitude of the captain is unbelievable. Ha, it was for Captain Kirk standard practice! I am not a wannabe writer who in his head is rewriting the hole saga and not satisfied with the result we see here and now. I am just an older guy from the Netherlands (never say Holland) who has seen it all at the right time. I hope that there is going to be a next season. If not there will never be new Star Trek episodes, just more Zombie, Ghost, Horror and Disaster stuff. Second By The Way: The Orville is also very nice and enjoyable. Only the "jokes"; is the word corny OK again?
Star Trek: Discovery: The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry (2017)
Along came this episode
I liked this episode just as the previous one. Nice acting, the IHMO solid production, the incredible CGI, the weird Klingons that actually speak Klingon, the nice idea of the organic spores. Sci-Fi with all the wonderful nonsense. I hope that all the negativity around STD does not harm the continuity of the series. I am not going to see this episode five times to give a line by line of my liking or not liking. I plop down in my easy chair and turn on Channel 2, I mean Netflix and enjoy the show. Better than all this zombie stuff around. If you do not like STD then stay away from it, no problem. I just hope that Silvia Tilly is going to be a bit less silly..
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
It is now, 2017
So everybody is hating this new installment of Star Trek. I rather liked it. So there are women commanding, so there are many not so white people around. So what? It is very likely that the world will be filled with more colored people than you can imagine in a couple of hundred years. ( Not important but I am rather white). I liked the new 2017 design of the show, the wonderful CGI, the hard changes in the narrative, the weirdness of the Klingons. Of course there are unlikely moments like when the two women are philosophizing about life between the ruins of their ship. Ha, doesn't that always happen in every TV series? Just relax, sit in your chair, have a beer and enjoy the show. Give some credit to the makers of this show (My English is only so-so; thank you for spellcheckers) I rate this show an 8, I wait and hope it will be 9 or more. I am 71, so I have seen it all from the beginning, have all the boxes, even visited once a ST convention in Dusseldorf. Only drawback: I had to buy myself in to Netflix, no problem at 200 MB Ftth.
