An error has ocurred. Please try againI avoid listing any erotic dramas that have no thriller/crime element to them. The 90s/early 2000s were filled with such films, along with the long running episodic erotica that were made for late night cable TV.
There was the sword and sandal "Peplum" cycle; the James Bond spy thriller cycle; the Speghetti Western cycle; the Emmanuelle "sexploitation" cycle, the Salò "nazisploitation" cycle, the Dawn of Dead zombie cycle; the Mad Max post apocalypse cycle; the Conan sword and sorcery cycle, the Rambo action-in-the-jungle cycle, etc. But comedies have always been a pillar of Italian cinema, and once censorship laws eased, there was a flood of sex comedies filling Italian and European cinemas for most of the 1970s/early 80s.
The Category III film rating, a Hong Kong equivalent to a hard R/NC17 rating in the US, was introduced in 1988.
Finding out if a certain film is truly rated III, instead of II -which was split in 1995 into IIa, and IIb- is challenging, as there are conflicting sources on the Internet; for example: 'Taxi Hunter' is listed in several sources as rated III, while in fact it's rated IIb.
One reason for this is that film companies in HK used the III rating as an advertisement tool to lure potential costumers looking for some edgy content, so they faked the Category III logo on the packaging of some films that had a lower rating. And in a few cases, a film was given a IIb rating theatrically, but the uncut version on home video was given a III.
I didn't include any films which are classified as Adult on IMDb -meaning they contain hardcore shots/scenes- of which there are three or four dozens, mainly from the late 1990s/early 2000s, although it's debatable if a few from the early to mid 90s do truly contain any materials that would be classified as adult.
I tried to avoid cluttering the list with movies that are so obscure, very little information is found about them.
This list contains Category III films produced in Hong Kong and Taiwan only.
This list covers most films produced from the late 60s to the late 80s, excluding hardcore pornography, and contains films from Germany, Austria, and Swiss-German cinema.

Appurushîdo (1988)
A new restoration, a new appreciation.
Just finished watching the new restoration of Appleseed, which is sourced from the original camera negative for the first time ever -all previous versions were sourced from inferior video tape elements- and I have to say I'm impressed.
The backgrounds are true pieces of anime art, and they pop like never before. The quirky character designs, the robots, and especially all the vehicles look gorgeous!
Aside from the anticlimactic ending, my second viewing experience, especially with the comparatively low key original Japanese dub, has elevated the original Appleseed for me as one of the best OVA to come out of 1980s Japan.
Don't Go in the Woods (1981)
Atrocious
Truly, one of the worst experiences I've ever had watching a "film".
It was so painful, I had to stop midway through and force my self to come back later and finish it. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. It was extremely boring, extremely badly dubbed(the whole thing), horrendously scored(if you can call a bunch of noises that make no sense whatsoever, made by a three year old child a score).
Acting is non existent, plot is non existent, dialogue is non existent, logic is non existent. It, really, makes something like Satan's Blade(1984) look like Apocalypse Now.
2 out of 10.
