Sisi (2021)
No chemistry
I was excited to see this new production but I was disappointed. The characters have no chemistry and the script is boring. Halfway through the first episode i realized this was a waste of my time and i quit.
Maid (2021)
Absolutely breathtaking
Phenomenal series, stellar performances, superb writing, fantastic cinematography. Heartbreaking and hopeful. Beautiful, raw and insightful.
It made me aware of the circumstances we are born into and how hard it can be to break the cycle, to start doing things differently than what you know, what you were taught, what you believe about yourself and the world.
I feel so grateful to have watched this show.
What i also loved was that it showed just enough of the violence to get the idea but it didn't go into scary thriller mode. It's a drama and it's painful at times, but i appreciated that it didn't focus too much on the violence.
Also, i just want to send love to everybody who has experienced or is experiencing domestic violence. You're awesome. You're beautiful. You deserve love and peace and safety. Big hug. <3.
Firefly Lane (2021)
Missing soul, or good writing, or good acting
What makes a show a good show, I wonder, after seeing two and a half episodes. I was excited to see this because of the two leads, but somehow this show is not coming together. I don't love the characters, I miss chemistry between them, and depth overall, even though the themes are pretty good. On the surface it looks like it has all the ingredients for a great show but it's not capturing me. I find myself reluctant to continue. Such a pity.
Travelers (2016)
An okay series that could have been so much better
I don't really mind the plot holes, i like the backdrop of the Traveler program but what a missed chance to zoom in on the amazing characters. I would have really liked a more personal story. Instead it's focused on the backstory and failed to engage us in the inner worlds of the character. Too bad, cause that's where life happens. It got better through the seasons, just enough to keep me watching. The acting is great, that helped.
The Goop Lab (2020)
Wonderful show for the open minded
This is a wonderful show, exploring new things, off the beaten path (read conventional western medicine, sponsored by big pharma). Yes there is a world beyond what we are being conditioned to believe to be true.
So yes, this is not for the closed minded. Like it if you like it, and don't if you don't. Personally I think it's wonderful that these things are getting a bigger platform, so YAY for Netflix for creating this show.
Good Sam (2019)
No Good Sam
I like most Netflix originals but this one surprised me with the terrible acting and the boring script. The storyline is quite alright and the message is great but somehow the actors didn't convince me at all.
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Unexpectedly deeply moved
I cried during the whole film. What a beautiful and honest story about friendship, love and the simple but deep pain of living, wanting to belong, looking for connection and fulfillment. This film sure struck an unexpected chord with me.
