Rescued by Ruby (2022)
Perfect for a low-key, feel-good, dog-vibe evening 💛
This movie popped up on my radar because I enjoy animal movies, but I also love Scott Wolf. This was a great film for a relaxed evening on the couch, wanting some feel-good vibes. The ending is a touch emotional but in a sweet way. Quality-wise in terms of editing, sure there is room for improvement but I don't watch a film like this for its editing qualities. And they weren't bad by any means, so 🤗 I really enjoyed the fact there there were no real antagonists/villains present. The characters were likable but not boring and Ruby was beautiful & a real personality 🙂 I would definitely recommend this movie to someone who is into these kind of movies or who just wants to watch something mellow and sweet.
The Good Doctor: I Love You (2020)
Tearjerker & unexpected turns...
I really enjoyed this 2-part conclusion to this season. I understand that some characters may be more likable/popular than others but I do think this final had a fair & relatively suitable storyline for everyone.
I am gutted that one of my favs won't be in the show anymore but his departure is extremely well written. Park was phenomenal, I like him anyway but he really blew me away. And Shaun with his "patient" also really drew me in. Same with the nurses, I like all of them and wish we could have seen more of them as they added a little bit of comic relief. I also think the setup with the earthquake was well-chosen because its not too distracting but allows for a fitting backstory.
I tend to cry/tear up at most episodes for this show, but never have I cried so much. Truly enjoyed this finale although it is very bitter-sweet.
November 13: Attack on Paris (2018)
Highly recommendable
I have literally just finished watching half an hour ago and I'm still experiencing emotional turmoil. I was 26 and in Germany when these attacks happened and it was unbelievable. This documentary is a hauntingly beautiful tribute to those events. It's educational, meets the right tone, respectful, interesting... The interviews are truly excellent! So very well done, I would recommend it to anyone!
The Irregulars (2021)
Unexpectedly entertaining!
I didn't go into this with particularly high expectations, just looking for some casual, easy entertainment and I have a soft spot for British TV shows. This really took me by surprise because some of the reviews were pretty mediocre so I was a little apprehensive but the idea of some magic in Victorian London with a new-ish, somewhat unknown cast spoke to me so I wanted to give it a whirl. If you are aware that this isn't based on Doyle's Sherlock work I think the mix of all the elements that make up this series works rather well. Yes I agree that the music is sometimes a little off-putting but I can forgive that. The cast is great, the stories are fun and the flair/atmosphere is fab. Yes, sometimes they take shortcuts and problems get solved a little too easily but this is why I look at this series as easy and enjoyable entertainment with likeable characters. I'm looking forward to the next season
Criminal Minds: #6 (2013)
Blake-Centered
I found the storyline interesting enough. There are much more fascinating and deviant ones but this was solid and (for lack of a better word) enjoyable. One of my favourite moments is Reid's comment about the fine print, that always makes me laugh.
But what's actually making me write this review is that it was quite is that it was quite Blake-centered and I really liked that. I know there are quite a few people who are not overly fond of her but I never had an issue with her character though I can see why some see her as a little cold or disconnected. But I think this episode helps to warm up to her and see another side of her and I'm really glad the show took time for that. I actually teared up at the end, I really dig Blake and her husband, what a wonderful couple they are 😊 Anyway, overall, solid, good episode. One of the better ones of this season, I think.
Criminal Minds: Riding the Lightning (2006)
One of my all-time favourites!
I haven't seen this episode in eons, but it only took one rewatch to remind me, why I always thought this was one of CM's best.
The topic of capital punishment, caring for a child and the sacrifice, the choice Gideon made in the end... These are all interesting ethical questions questions but put in a beautiful empirical gritty storyline. The acting of all involved parties was incredible and the music choices were great for this episode.
Just brilliant, the whole thing, a joy to watch (but not without tissues!)
